28 - 28 - Insights at the Academy

Just before Izuna left the library and went home, he noticed a scroll on elemental nature training and discovered a second way to train his earth nature.

"It was to mold clay into various shapes, harden it, and so on using only chakra."

Izuna thought, 'It makes sense. Most Earth Style jutsus are basically just moving a part of the ground above the surface. So, clay molding will be very helpful. When it gets too easy, I can simply add more clay or use mud or dirt so it will be harder.' Then Izuna left the library and went home, where he ate some food then went off to start training.

The next morning, after his physical training and leaving his shadow clones behind to train and study, he found himself to be the last student to enter his classroom.

As he went and sat in the back of the class so he could observe everyone, he noticed that both Minato and Fugaku were sitting in the front row.

Hiroto, the teacher, then walked in at 8 am on the dot and started class.

The first hour was a lecture about the history of the village and the pride that one should have in being a Konoha shinobi, which Izuna chalked up to be another brainwashing session.

He quickly noticed that the two Naras were half asleep, the Akimichis were sneaking a snack, the Inuzukas were playing with their dogs, two girls were gossiping, while a couple, like Minato and Fugaku, were paying close attention.

The lecture went on for an hour while Izuna paid some attention.

After the brainwashing session, the teacher started to explain about chakra and then molding chakra with hand signs. The kids from clans were distracted. They had likely already been taught hand signs before they joined the academy.

Then they went to lunch, and after they had another lecture on history where Satoshi Senju and Hinoka Hyuga were both answering most of the questions asked.

The week went by in a similar manner.

The teacher taught all 12 basic hand signs and stressed the importance of learning the hand signs properly.

Then he taught everyone the Leaf Concentration Exercise, where most of the clan kids, once again, didn't pay much attention.

In week 2, Hiroto held a class on Shurikenjutsu, then he and another Chunin, whom he asked for help, held a little competition to see where everyone stood.

Most clan kids did well, with Izuna and Fugaku, who at some point in the last year had unlocked his Sharingan, tied for first place as expected as an Uchiha.

With Hinoka Hyuga and Satoshi Senju coming in second, with several more Hyugas coming after them, then there was the lone Osamu Shimura, then a surprise to the class but not to Izuna came from the civilian, Minato Namikaze, who before this had no practice with shurikens.

Izuna noticed the serious attitude of Osamu Shimura and thought, 'I guess Danzo has already got him in a root-like training program.'

One day, Izuna was sitting in class when one of his shadow clones dispelled, and he learned that he had finally made significant progress in chakra control and could now easily do tree climbing.

He thought to himself, 'Next, I need to start practicing water walking.'

He then began to think about his new progress from what would be a couple of weeks for everyone else but would be much more to him due to his save points.

The most surprising thing was that due to his increasing progress in chakra control, he was now able to pop the water balloon.

He had now moved on to the rubber ball but was having trouble popping it. He felt like it would be a while before he had the control to pop it.

He also knew that his physical fitness had taken a huge leap since he got the gravity seal.

Izuna had also noticed his increasing knowledge in Fuinjutsu, with the help of his shadow clone that he sent daily to the library. He knew that soon he would ask his parents to buy him some supplies to start practicing on Fuinjutsu.

He had also seen improvements in his Genjutsu training with his parents helping him over the weekends.
