150 The Tree of Sharingans

As the wisps of black energy reached the Sharingans stored in the 1st jar, instead of them decaying as it happened with the dead bodies, the wisps entered inside the Sharingan. The numerous eyes inside the jar started to glow brightly. Yami was shocked when he saw this happen. He didn't know what to do as he felt no change inside him happen. Normally whenever he devoured something, he could feel his body and his chakra pathways strengthen. Even if the body belonged to a non-shinobi and was a weak bandit, he would still feel his muscles become thicker and more compact at the same time.

Yami understood that this devouring law had some kind of connection to the Sharingan. 'I don't know if it is just Sharingan or other dojutsus like the Byakugan, Rinnegan, and the Ketsuryugan which belongs to the Chinoike clan.'

The eyes started floating out of the jar. Yami didn't know what to do. He cursed himself for not trying this on a single Sharingan first and now he doesn't know what the end result will be. Whether it will be good or bad. He tried to stop the devouring law. He had 2 more jars full of Sharingans. Now the Sharingans from the first jar were in front of him floating and the whole thing looked like a tree. The black energy was like branches and the eyes were like fruits, glowing fruits.

Yami tried to take the devouring energy back but it was as if he had no control over this. Instead, the black tree in front of him started spreading. The black wisps of devouring energy started moving toward the other jars. Yami wanted to stop that from happening by taking his hand away but even that didn't work as the wisps were still moving toward the other jars. Yami came to the conclusion that whatever was happening, he didn't have any idea how to stop it and could only pray that it better be a good thing rather than god knows which curse.

In the next 30 seconds, the tree had become three times bigger than it was before. All the Sharingans that he had stored were part of that tree now and were glowing. Yami even tried to cut one of the black branches with a chakra-covered kunai but the kunai went through it and did nothing as if the black energy and chakra were in a different reality altogether.

After a few minutes, Yami started to feel tired. Having the devouring law activated for so long really took a toll on him. He never thought that even this had a limit as to how much time can it be activated just like chakra. His chakra core did nothing to remediate that which Yami found really odd. All the glowing eyes suddenly turned grey in color and everything just stopped. The grey and black Sharingans good bland as if they would just collapse and turn into ash the very next second. The eyes started coming together and just when Yami thought the eyes would touch each other, they merged. All the eyes started merging into each other and as one merged into another, the merged one would become a little darker. Things kept unfolding in front of Yami and he had no other option than to watch.

In the end, only two eyes were left. Just when Yami thought all this was over the two eyes also started merging into each other and formed one single black ball. Yami could tell that it wasn't just black but it was endless. Even when he tried to concentrate and see what was in the black eye-sized ball he felt a chill run down his spine.

The black ball moved closer to him. Yami thought the ball would merge into his body like it did with each other and increase his strength or his Sharingan abilities. But nothing like that happened. Instead, the small spike-like things appeared on one side of the ball which was facing Yami and the spikes pierced Yami's left eye.

ARGHHH

Yami shouted. He had never felt such pain before. Having a couple of spikes stabbed into his eyes was not the kind or level of pain Yami was ready for. He wanted to move back but the ball came closer and entered Yami's left eye socket.

'It wanted to replace my left eye.' Yami realized. The black ball had destroyed his left eye and took its place. Yami cursed at the black ball as it was less painful to remove his eye by himself. As the eye rested in his left eye socket, the blood around his eyes started going back into his eyes. He then felt a different but painful sensation. Where he felt someone was carving something on the surface of his eye. He quickly unsheathed his sword and looked at the reflection of his left eye and he was right something was being etched on his eye. He recognized it instantly as it was the same symbol that was on his left wrist.

The Symbol of Devouring Law.

Yami didn't feel his Sharingans strengthened nor did he feel his body strengthened but he had a smile on his face. As soon as the symbol was etched on the eye, the function that the eye could perform was instantly shown in his memory.

"At first I could only devour bodies of people, now I can devour their souls as well. I don't know what are the uses of making my soul stronger but I will take anything I receive. After taking so much pain this is something I deserve." Yami muttered.

Yami then looked at the bodies from the first scroll. He wanted to touch and devour it but just as he showed the intention of devouring it, a vacuum appeared from his left eye and flesh started tearing off from the person's body and along with blood it disappeared inside the vacuum.

'This looks a lot like Kamui that Obito does.' Yami thought. He wanted to feel his soul strengthened but then another piece of info appeared in his mind. One that told him once a person dies, their soul is dissipated within the hour.

All the fatigue that Yami was feeling vanished after devouring the bodies. Like the devouring from his hands, not even ash was left of them.

Yami then looked at the scroll in front of him and sighed "I still have to learn scorch style..." he sat down and without him even realizing his left eye became normal and looked like his usual blue eyes.
