20 [Chapter 20] Training

"Will I be able to learn sage mode?!", asked Ryo with excitement.
"Hoho..... you already know about sage mode.... and to answer your question, yes you will be but there is something that is greater than sage mode, you know", spoke elder Hikaru.
"Something greater?!", spoke Ryo with a shocked look on his face.
"Yes.... It is something that I discovered a very long time ago, but was not able to achieve, as I did not meet the required conditions.
In fact no one has ever succeeded, learning sage mode is hard enough", spoke elder Hikaru.
Hearing this Ryo had a frown on his face.
"But I think you will be able to, since I have never seen someone who has such a high affinity for lightning, it is like you are a part of lightning itself", Hikaru spoke with a smile breaking on his face.
"Really?! How do I learn it?" asked Ryo.
"Patience child, you will first have to learn the sage mode, I will tell you more about it later, even I don't know how powerful it will be since no one has ever been able to achieve it", spoke Hikaru.
"So when can I start?" asked Ryo, calming himself down.
"You can start training now if you want, but it would be better if you prepare yourself for the harsh training, so let's start from tomorrow", said Okami.
"Ok, then I will come back tomorrow", spoke Ryo.
After a few awkward seconds,
"So.... how do I get back now?" asked Ryo.
"Don't worry, I will show you the secret route through which you can come to this place and vice versa, your village is not very far away", said Okami.
"Wouldn't just anyone be able to find this place?", asked Ryo.
" No, only the ones who have signed a contract with us can find this place, it is the same with the other sage regions, only sometimes, people stumble upon the route, but ours is the best hidden one so no one knows about it yet", Okami said with pride.
"Can't you just use reverse summoning?" asked Ryo.
" *Sigh*, you are asking so many questions. First of all, very few of us can use reverse summoning, it is an S class jutsu after all and the second reason is that it uses a lot of chakra.
Now let's go", said Okami, ready to leave.
"Umm.... before we leave, can you teach me the summoning jutsu please", said Ryo in a polite manner.
There was an awkward silence for a moment, when elder Hikaru spoke,
"I will give you a scroll for the jutsu."
Handing Ryo the scroll, Okami and Ryo left.

Under a waterfall,
"Now fully focus on feeling the energy around you, the waterfall is special, it will help you", spoke Okami with a strict tone.
Ryo did as instructed and after about a half hour, he was able to feel some energy, it was nature energy!
Okami noticing this, rushed beside Ryo.
After a few minutes,
'Just how... the nature energy he is absorbing is clearly not stable... there are no side effects....' thought Okami with a shocked expression.
After sometime,
"Why wasn't I able to switch to sage mode even after I absorbed nature energy?" asked Ryo.
"Well..... you are not properly controlling the flow of nature energy, that what makes it so hard.
It will take a lot of practice to perfect it.
There should also be a risk of you turning into a stone statue, as I told you before, but for some reason, your body is very compatible to nature energy.
Now all you need is to practice hard", said Okami.
After the practice was over, Ryo went home and Okami went to the elders place.

In the house beside the waterfall,
"Elder, this kid can absorb nature energy without any side effects! You did say that he was special but this is..." spoke Okami with a surprised expression.
Listening to this, elder Hikaru said,
"Okami, this boy is indeed out of the ordinary, I think natural energy must be very compatible with him, but what makes him special is not that but how hard he works.
You must have seen how he sat under the waterfall and persisted, even I could not sit under it for so long when I first started.
He has a goal and I choose to help him, I hope you will see it too", said elder Hikaru in a calm demeanor.
"Then I will take my leave", said Okami as he went into deep thought.

In the wolves' sacred land,

Extending his hand Ryo formed a sword out of thin air!
It was created full of lightning and gave a crackling sound!
"Remember, use it only when you don't have your sword or when it is broken, it is strong but the chakra control needed is very high", said Okami
Ryo nodded.
In a week, Ryo had improved a lot in absorbing nature energy but was far from learning sage mode.
Okami also started teaching Ryo techniques of their clan.
In the afternoon,
"I won't be able to come here for a week unfortunately, I have to go on a mission", said Ryo.
"No problem, summon me if you run into any trouble", said Okami with a smile.
"Haha, it's just a C rank mission, I don't think there will be any trouble", said Ryo laughing.

The next day,
Outside the Hokage's building,
"Hayate Sensei, Hakuto how are you doing?" asked Ryo, full of energy.
"Good, it seems like you are full of energy as always Ryo", said Hayate.
"Let's complete the mission fast", said Hakuto.
Over the span of a month, their relation had improved a lot, Ryo considered Hakuto his friend and so did Hakuto.
Hayate also taught both of them many things, even things other than jutsus, like communication, during the missions they went to.

"Nice to meet you team Hayate", said Minato with a smile.
'Why have we been called to the Hokage's office?!' thought Ryo and Hakuto with confusion.

Guys thanks for the support on the book, I never expected so many of you would like it. Unfortunately, the updates will be very irregular from now on till August as I have important University entrance exams coming up.
If I don't update for a while, don't think that I have quit writing the fan fic. I will definitely not stop, I even have the most epic fight scene in my head which I definitely want to write.
I will try to update once a week but please bear with it till August.
