. . . . . .

When Sanada said those words, Jiraiya eventually made his mind interfere. The situation was going out of control, and they couldn't have a Kage-level ninja turn their back on them right now.

"Well, we don't need to be this tense, do we? Didn't Sensei also say that Sanada was innocent and that he is an inheritor of the will of fire?"

These words of Jiraiya somehow relieved the tension a bit, and Sanada sighed a relief.

At least he was not pushed into a situation where he needed to be a missing-nin, he thought. If the Hokage was able to believe him, then the trio geezer should not continue pursuing this matter.

Sanada turned to look at Jiraiya and was about to give him his gratitude, but Jiraiya just shook his head, telling him that it wasn't needed.

" In fact, today we call you here not because of this matter."

Jiraiya then explained the matter about the selection of Hokage to Sanada.

He also explained that even though he was injured pretty badly, Sarutobi Hiruzen was able to survive in his battle with Orochimaru and now was in the extensive care unit of Konoha for being in Comma.

" That's basically it. Even though the Third Hokage was able to survive this predicament, he was in no state to continue being the Hokage, and therefore, we need to choose another Hokage. And so..." Jiraiya shifted his gaze toward Danzo.

" As one of the heroes of Konoha in the previous battle, we wanted to ask you who would you nominate for this Hokage."

Jiraiya finished his sentence with a smile toward Sanada.

But this time, Sanada felt a shiver down his spine.

Wait a minute.. did he just dodge a bullet? If everything that Jiraiya said was true, then Sanada could somehow predict what was in the mind of the trio old geezers.

They saw the potential in Sanada, and they wanted to test Sanada's attitude towards them.

Currently, Danzo's prestige was not enough for him to be the Hokage, so if Sanada were to back down and submit to them just now, they might want to endorse Sanada as a puppet Hokage.

Damn... He had almost taken the role of Minato.

Luckily, he didn't submit just now and was ready to confront the trio who had the backhand in all that bad events in Konoha.

Now Sanada felt really grateful that he was not late, and the Third Hokage could still be saved at that time. If not, who knows what crazy trick Danzo would pull against him.

Sanada then replied with a perfunctory answer and recommended either Jiraiya or Tsunade as the Sannin and proceeded to leave the Hokage office.

Nevertheless, his eyes now have a gloomy expression on them.

He truly had the intention to publish all the things Danzo did before. If the geezers were to push beyond his limit, then Sanada wouldn't mind being a missing-nin and publishing all the black pot he had committed so far.

Still, since the other party didn't intend to push Sanada anymore, Sanada decided to stop. Such a big event like punishing the king of the black pot, Danzo Shimura, it shouldn't be done so nonchalantly right? At least it needed to have a great intro that would later translate into the retribution of the biggest criminal in Konoha.

At the end of the day, Sanada could only sigh inwardly.

The darkness of Naruto world was a lot more than what was shown in the anime, and he must really think twice before taking any action. Slowly the mind to leave Konoha and wander around began to circulate in Sanada's mind.

But it soon disappeared as it was not the right time yet. At the very least, he must ensure the safety of his disciples before he leaves Konoha.

- Meanwhile: Sunagakure -

A tragic battle has just ended.

This time, Konoha's losses were not small. On the other hand, Sunagakure's losses were too many to be counted.

A large number of Sunagakure Genin and Chūnin lost their lives during their raid in Konoha with a big percentage of them being dealt with by Sanada.

As for the few remaining elite Chūnin and the captain-level Jōnin they weren't many as a lot of them ended up getting captured and held hostage by Konoha.

If Sunagakure wanted to redeem the hostages, they would have to pay a lot of war reparations. Otherwise, there was nothing to talk about.

At the same time, even more shocking news were brewing in Sunagakure.

The Fourth Kazekage had been found but the only thing remaining was his dead body!

The higher-ups knew that it should be the works of Orochimaru but they still kept their mouths shut as they didn't want to shock the village anymore.

The news were released slowly, but it captured the attention of especially the Sunagakure Shinobi.

Most of their strong ninjas were captured, and their Kazekage had been killed. Suddenly, the whole Land of Wind was shaken.

They never thought the plan of taking over Konoha would backfire this much and hurt the essence of their Sunagakure Village.

As one of the few elites in the Hidden Sand Village, Baki was pushed to the front of the stage as he temporarily presided over the management of the village, with the assistance of consultant Chiyo and Ebizo.

Nonetheless, Baki's strength was still far from Kage-level, and if they couldn't find any quick replacement for their Kage, their status as the Sunagakura village and Hidden Village of the Land of Wind would definitely plummet.

Baki was still busy handling some paperwork in the Kazekage's office and thinking about how to make a truce with Konoha when someone knocked on the door.

A few familiar figures entered the office. Gaara and his two siblings entered, but different from usual, Gaara no longer held a huge amount of bloodlust in his aura.

After Sanada had finished talking with Gaara, Naruto came and the two talked as they shared their experiences.

They were two people with very similar kinds of backstories. There was some conflict at first and the two entered a fistfight, but it was more like a fistfight between friends, and the two quickly became friends as they began to share their dreams with each other.

"Sensei, I've heard it all. From now on, my goal is to become the Kazekage..."

Gaara's words were very sudden and it surprised Baki a lot. But when he saw the seriousness in Gaara's eyes he knew that Gaara truly meant it and as such he decided to take the bet.

The only weakness Gaara had was how uncontrollable he could be.

But if Gaara could control his bloodlust then there were no better candidates than Gaara.

Baki suddenly had a premonition. He didn't know why, but he felt like Gaara would be the one that would bring Sunagakure prosperity, and for that alone, he would do everything to train Gaara.

Baki didn't stay polite with Gaara. He instead told him the harsh truth and how he still needed to change a lot of things if he wished to become Kazekage. At the end of the day, Baki told Gaara that he could do it, and that he was waiting for the day when he would lead Sunagakure.
