Chapter 73: 1st Challenge
The examiner stood in front of all of the competitors and began to speak in a monotonous voice.
"The first trial of the Chunin Exams is a test. In this test, there will be questions that have no right or wrong answer, with it instead being answered based on your own personal opinion. While these questions won't affect your score, they will be sent back to your Villages to assist them in figuring out where to place you."
The examiner then passed out the test to everyone in the room as he continued "The test will also consist of questions you would expect, such as those that test your theoretical knowledge and your critical thinking. It is to your best aid that you answer every single question. In total, there will be 20 questions, but you must get at least 14 correct to pass the test. I wish you all the best of luck."
The test consisted of questions that were of a much higher difficulty than the usual test that Tsunade had undertaken.
One of the questions was so detailed that it even stunned her.
It asked, "If your Village was to send you as a mediator in a negotiation for the growth of resources between them and a foreign enemy, how would you peacefully end the discussion, and if peaceful negotiation is impossible, how would you defeat the enemy ninja?"
However, Tsunade had knowledge of the 21st century on her hand, so she responded with her best judgment.
"I would first convey the peaceful option by implying the consequences of a war between our nations and the disasters it could bring. If that was unsuccessful, then I would use words that imply the threat of war and the amount of destruction we would unfold onto them. If all else failed, I would reverse summon myself to escape the situation."
While a few of the other questions were of similar difficulty, they were each answered by Tsunade in a timely manner.
After about 5 more minutes, Tsunade sat utterly done with her test, finally looking up to see almost everyone else in the room cheating in various ways.
She first looked at the examiner and noticed he didn't do anything to prevent cheating from the competitors.
'So it seems that just like in the original, the test allows us to cheat as long as it's not completely obvious.I don't have to worry about Orochimaru, but perhaps Jiraiya could use some help.'
She then peered at Jiraiya's paper and saw that it was mostly blank.
She subtly manipulated her chakra to go into his body, after which he fell into a genjutsu.
Jiraiya was about to attempt to break out of it, though once he noticed the chakra belonged to Tsunade, he calmed down and looked at his paper to see the answers appearing on it for him.
He simply copied the answers down so that he could complete the test.
'So it seems she can manipulate her chakra on such a level that it would be hard for even someone like me to notice. Truly worthy of being the granddaughter of the First Hokage.' The examiner thought to himself.
He was someone who had been assigned by the Hokage to mediate over the exams and prevent anything from happening during the first round.
The fact that Tsunade's chakra control was barely noticeable to him, showcases that she is extremely skilled and that her strength may be high.
After another 10 minutes, and seeing that almost everyone was done with their tests, he helped up his hand and spoke
"Time's up."
He then proceeded to take everyone's test papers and grade them in a quick fashion. While he didn't need answer's to the hypothetical questions, he did grade all those that had simple answers.
Through this test, he eliminated half the teams that competed, with it basically making it so that only the most elite of the teams remained.
After making sure that those that failed had left, he then spoke again
"Now, it's time for us to begin the 2nd part of the exam."
