Chapter 62: Reactions

Kumogakure

"So those bastards in Konoha are trying to showcase their superiority in this contest. And they think that I'll let them humiliate Kumo?" The Third Raikage A asked his secretary while seething with rage.

The Raikage easily saw through what Hiruzen was planning, but he knew that he didn't have a choice if the Daimyo wanted for them to go, otherwise they would risk losing the village's funding.

"Yes Lord Raikage, but who should we send to compete?" asked his secretary.

"Call Blue B, Nemu, and Dabui to my office." the Third Raikage said, causing the secretary's eyes to widen before she quickly sent the message.

"Are you sure it's wise to send the three of them Lord Raikage?" his secretary asked as she showed worry in her eyes.

One was the person who was chosen as the partner to the Raikage and was also the current 8 tails Jinchuriki.

The next was a holder of the Swift Release kekkei genkai and was extremely proficient in it, with his speed being on a high level.

The last was a user of the Storm Release kekkei genkai and was viewed as a genius in Kumo.

"If they can't get past this, then they aren't worthy of being Kumo shinobi." The Third Raikage said with a grunt.

The three then entered the room, with all three being led by their sensei.

"What is it Lord Raikage?" spoke the man who led the three into the room.

While most wouldn't dare to speak to the Raikage in such a tone, Itoma was someone who had fought alongside him during many battles in the First Great Ninja War.

"I'll be sending your team to Konoha as the representatives for Kumogakure in the Chunin Exams. Your task is for you to at least make it to the final round, though I would prefer it if you all won." the Third Raikage told him.

Itoma simply nodded as he then turned around to leave, however, one of the students who had two-toned hair stayed back and spoke "Do you need me to go all out?"

The Raikage simply smiled as he said "Go all out B. Show them the second half of the A-B combination."

Blue B simply smiled and gave A a fist bump before he rejoined his teammates and went to train for the exams with Itoma.

"It seems new waves will be made in the Shinobi World soon." the Third Raikage said before he began their preparations for the Chunin Exams.

Iwagakure

Inside of the Tsuchikage's office, Onoki read the invitation with a wave of anger visible on his face.

"I knew those tree huggers wouldn't stay silent for too long." Onoki spoke as he sighed.

"What do you think we should do in response Lord Tsuchikage?" asked one of the elders in the room.

Onoki simply spared the man a glance before he said "Of course, we're gonna participate. They're hoping to either ruin our reputation by us not showing up, or ruin it by us losing. Either way, they expect for us to lose. That means we simply need to do the opposite."

He then waved his hand, causing an ANBU agent to come down in front of him, with Onoki saying "Go send a message to Kiyomi. Tell her that her team will be participating in the Chunin Exams inside of Konoha in about two weeks. Also, send a message to the other jonin that their teams will participate as well."

The agent then body flickered away, leaving Onoki in the office with the elders and his advisers.

"I refuse to allow those tree huggers to win, so I will ensure that we embarrass Konoha the same way they wish to do to us. I will make them pay for underestimating the Hidden Stone!" Onoki spoke with venom laced in his voice.

Sunagakure

Inside of the Kazekage's office, three individuals could be seen sitting around the Kazekage's desk.

The one sitting behind the desk was reading the information from a scroll sent to him from Konoha. He had dark blue hair and narrow yellow eyes, while he also wore the robes for the Kazekage.

One of the two that say in front of him was a woman who had dark gray hair tied up in a bun. The other was a man who had bandages wrapped around his head while his heavy-lidded eyes paid attention to the letter in the Kazekage's hand.

The Kazekage set down the letter before he looked up at the Honored Siblings and spoke "Konoha has invited us to participate in their Chunin Exams."

Both were taken aback by that, however, Ebizo quickly came to a realization as he said "It's a trap." to which the Kazekage nodded.

"They know we won't be able to decline since we would be risking further straining our relationship with the Daimyo. And if we do compete and lose, then we will lose mission requests as more people will start going to Konoha instead of us. Those bastards already have fertile land, do they want to bankrupt us too!!" Chiyo spoke while angry.

"It doesn't matter. There's nothing we can do now except send an elite squad to participate." Ebizo said.

The Third Kazekage then thought of something as he turned towards Chiyo with a smile and asked "I know exactly what team we'll send to participate. Your son's team hasn't taken the exam yet, right Chiyo?"

Both Ebizo and Chiyo smiled as they realized what he was implying, with all three laughing as they imagined the genin of Konoha being massacred by theirs.

"It seems the next generation is ready to shine." said the Third Kazekage.
