9 Chapter 9: Black Snake Sage

Catherine stood in front of the being who could be considered a kaiju in her original world.

While the other snakes were large and imposing, the black serpent in front of her could easily be considered one of the largest and most intimidating creatures in the world.

"Now why would a human willingly ask to meet me when very few know of the existence of Ryuchi Cave, with even less daring to actively seek it out? Are you that confident in your strength to be able to escape, or are you that foolish to believe you can defeat me." the black serpent hissed menacingly.

"I can assure you that I meant no disrespect, Lord Black Snake Sage, it's simply that I wish to study inside Ryuchi Cave for a few years. Of course, I'm not asking you to allow me to stay for free, instead, I'm willing to make a deal with you." Catherine stated though the serpent seemed a bit confused as to what she was asking.

'What are you trying to say?" the serpent asked.

"I'm saying, I've come to bargain." Catherine said with a smile.

"Why would I bargain with a human? And what exactly would I gain in the bargain?" the snake asked, both angry and amused that a human would think it could bargain with him.

"I'm willing to give you a favor that I will owe Ryuchi Cave, one where I will aid you in anything you see fit as long as it doesn't result in the destruction of innocent lives." Catherine said while not losing her smile.

"You think that I, the Great Black Snake Sage, would need to ask for help from a mere human!! You cattle have grown more brazen over the years!! But no matter, I shall first put you in your place, after which I'll devour you and whatever country you come from for this disrespect!" The Black Snake Sage screamed as he swung his tail at her at an extremely fast speed.

However, instead of running or moving out of the way, she calmly put out one of her hands while moving the other in a certain pattern as she said "May the Shields of the Seraphim protect me!!"

A green shield appeared in front of her and blocked her from the impact of the tail, though it did crack a bit causing her to frown.

'Did it crack because my spell is too weak, or does it have something to do with Nature Energy.' she thought.

Meanwhile, the Black Sanke Sage seemed both shocked and confused as to how she could defend against his attack.

'How was she able to block my attack? I even infused a trace of Nature Energy to make the attack more powerful. And what was that energy she used to create that green shield, it was much different from Nature Energy.'

"Now do you believe that I could be of assistance to Ryuchi Cave one day?" Catherine asked the Black Snake Sage.

He fell into contemplation while considering his answer 'If she was able to use that energy to defend from my attacks, then she may be more powerful than I gave her credit for. I'm also growing older, so the favor may be of some use to White after I'm gone.' he thought.

"I agree with the deal, but you may stay as long as you like, however, should you attack any snake in Ryuchi Cave unprovoked, I will kill you." the Black Snake Sage said with a threat at the end.

"Thank you Great Black Sage, you are incredibly wise as you have just shown. I'll take my leave now." Catherine spoke with a smile.

The Black Snake Sage simply snorted before turning around to seemingly take a nap. Catherine simply went outside to the white snake and asked "So where's my room?"
