36 Chapter 36: Teaching

Yao sat on a newly made clearing, with her looking at her two students who sat before her, both attempting to calm themselves of all thoughts.

A few days had passed since she first began instructing the two, with her teaching them about many of the conceptual aspects of performing magic before diving into the practical exercises.

And now, she was trying to have the two sense the Ambient Energy that was present in the atmosphere, with both boys struggling to get rid of their thoughts.

"Clear your minds of any and all intrusive thoughts. Don't think about your Clans, don't think about the wars, don't think about elusive ideas such as war or peace, just focus on nothing but the darkness that you imagine taking precedence over everything." Yao stated.

Hashirama struggled clearing his thoughts from the worry he had over his brothers and the pressure that his Clan placed upon him, yet hearing his teacher's words, he was able to gradually calm himself down.

Madara had an even harder time, as it was hard for him to clear his mind from his worries, especially when he thought about the deaths of his brothers and wish to protect his remaining brother.

"Focus not on those you were unable to save, but move past it as they would wish for you to do. Place your focus on clearing your mind, so that you can do what some in your Clan can not. See past all illusions and tricks." Yao said to Madara, making the boy calm himself down.

Both Hashirama and Madara suddenly seemed to find themselves in a blank space, with them not able to see nor detect anything from the outside world, yet instead of panicking, they simply waited on Yao's instructions.

"Begin to imagine drops of water, streaming into a large bucket, with that water representing a form of Universal Energy, while the bucket representing your bodies, with your goal being to turn the energy into your own Mana, allowing you to increase your innate reserves as well as gain an understanding towards which branch of magic is most useful to you." Yao explained as the boys did as they were told.

Just as they both imagined the first drop hitting the bucket, they saw the darkness that they had imagined suddenly burst into vibrant colors, with it knocking both boys out of their meditative states.

"What the hell was that!" Madara said as he rubbed his head, with him feeling as if his mind had just exploded with information.

"That, is what happens when someone gains access to Mana, with your mind now being capable of sensing and feeling the Ambient Energy of the Cosmos, granting you a new level of awareness in the wider Universe." Yao said with a smile.

Hashirama looked as if he was unable to understand anything that Yao had just said, with her simply sighing as she patted the boys head.

"It means that you have unlocked your mana." 

Hashirama then gained a goofy smile, with Yao only being able to shake her head at the boy's antics.

"Does that mean we can learn magic now?" Hashirama asked excitedly.

Over the past few days, he had seen Yao conjure items out of thin air or even do things like teleporting items or transforming the into new items. 

While he wasn't greedy for power, he was extremely estatic to learn something like magic, as even past everything, he was still a child.

Even Madara looked slightly excited at the prospect.

"Oh God No. You don't even have enough mana to form a small flicker of light, let alone actually perform a spell. Maybe after another few weeks of practice we can try." Yao said.

Madara grumbled under his breath while Hashirama drew circles near a tree, both looking depressed at the facts.

'Most of the Master's I've taught take nearly a week to detect even a bit of energy, yet these two were able to do it in less than an hour. Yeah, Fate can go screw itself, I'm definetly teaching these two. I wonder what that can accomplish.' Yao thought as she smiled at the two students, ready to teach them more about the intricacies of magic.

"Now, let us start of a fundamental aspect of magic: Geometry!!"
