8 Chapter 8 : Graduation Test

Soon Shikamaru and his team found themselves in training ground 10 where there Jonin sensei was motioning them to attack him.

'This here is no Kakashi, I am pretty sure that although he does want to see our teamwork that is not the entirety of the test. If I have to say anything then it will be a person's strength, after teamwork can be built later on, especially for a team which was specially assigned before their parents were famous for their teamwork. So more than teamwork, this should be more about personal strength.' Shikamaru thought to himself and got ready, this would be his chance to compare himself to a powerful Jonin.

 In fact, it can be said that Asuma represents the average range of a Jonin in this world. He is only a little better than normal Jonin and this will help him find, where he is on the power ladder.

"Come on, you only have 2 hours for this test. You are wasting your own time," Asuma teased as he took out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it up, Shikamaru was counting still now how many he smoked and this one was his third. At this rate, he must smoke 8 to 10 a day.

No wonder Kishimoto killed him early, that was his way of saying that smoking is injurious to health.

Seeing no one attack, Shikamaru just sighed, Ino was confused about what to do, she didn't have much in terms of attack power and maybe the only person who could attack, Choji, was a soft-hearted person and would need more training and experience, maybe then he changes his mindset and actually go on attack any time soon.

Taking the first step, Shikamaru came forward, making his two friends surprised and even Asuma was surprised considering almost every Nara is unmotivated my core. Seeing Shikamaru taking action on his own makes him amuse.

Shikamaru had a plan to handle Asuma but he also wanted to include his team, but now he was torn between doing it alone or with them. Deciding what he wanted to do, it took him some time.

'Fine let's try the solo approach first, if that doesn't work then teamwork it is,' he thought and walked towards Asuma. This is also to establish himself as the leader in the absence of Asuma. After all, if he needs to improve his team then he has to be in the position of an authoritative figure, someone who is maybe slightly better than them.

"Are you coming alone," Asuma asked with indifference on his face like it didn't matter whether Shikamaru was alone or with his team, it didn't matter to him.

But in reality, it does matter, it matters because out of every team, if there is one team which can really beast their Jonin sensei then it the the Ino-Shika-Cho.

Choji and its strength are not a problem, and to some point, even Shikmaru is not that problematic as long as Asuma stays away from his shadow. But Ino and her mind Jutsu. That is a problem that he is concerned about. So even when facing someone like Shikamaru, its attention was more on Ino than Shikamaru, something others didn't notice as Asuma was very good at hiding his intention.

'I too wouldn't have noticed it but I have a 200+ IQ for nothing you know,' Shikmaru smiled and rushed at Asuma.

He didn't say anything, this was not a real fight where he had to put a lot of brain into it, before going after Asuma like a real Nara should, he wanted to see what he could do against a Jonin without any preparation or a plan, just with his strength. 

Seeing Shikamaru not directly using his clan jutsu, Asuma was a little surprised but didn't give it much thought, as Shikamaru rushed at Asuma he took out a kunai and went for a direct jab at the Jonin, but it didn't work of course, with ease Asuma was able to dodge the upcoming attack.

Shikamaru still went on and started to fight with Asuma, swinging his kunai at Asuma while also planning ahead of time what he wanted to do.

Asuma didn't do anything, he knew that no Nara would directly attack without a plan so he played along with the child to see what he was planning. 

After 3 more moves, Shikmaru eyes slightly saw the position of the shadow, making sure that Asuma was watching it, Asuma too noticed this sudden movement but he was not worried, the biggest downfall of the shadow possession technique is its slow speed. He was confident that he could avoid the shadow.

But unlike what he thought, Shikamaru didn't extend his shadow, in fact threw the kunai at Asuma from point black range, but Asuma's years of hone reflected kicked in and he shifted his head away from the coming kunai.

Shikamaru didn't wait and using the slight gap between him and Asuma, immediately formed a hand sign, Asuma seeing the hand sign was a little confused, it was not the sign needed to cast shadow possession technique and this put him even more alert.

"Shadow Rabbits Emergences," Shouted Shikamaru and the next second his shadow extended, but unlike whom it should have rushed towards Asuma, it started to deform and within a split second thousands of white rabbits with red eyes swarmed at Asuma.

Asuma was stunned, he had not expected this, since when the Nara clan had summoned the animal, but still, he used the shun shin technique to immediately get out of there.

On the other hand, both Choji and Ino were wide eye by the sheer effort put by Shikamaru in front of them, the doubt of him being an imposter started to appear in their mind but it was almost confirmed when they saw hundreds of rabbits suddenly appearing out of nowhere.

On the other hand, Asuma who appeared away from all those rabbits on top of a tree saw the hundreds of Rabbits still rushing at him with confusion on his face.

Seeing them appear at a fast speed, he instantly formed a hand sign and sent a fire jutsu at the rabbits.

A huge wave of flame rushes at the rabbits but the next second, Asuma is surprised as all those Rabbits phase through the fire like they don't even exist there.

"Genjutsu," Asuma muttered and tried to disturb his own chakra to get out of the genjutsu but on checking he saw that his chakra was not disturbed at all. 

This made him even more confused, but by this time, the rabbits were already on top of him. Not having enough time, he took out his chakra blades and attacked the incoming rabbits.

But again nothing happened as all those rabbits just passed through him. 

Now even more confused, he just thought that it was a Genjutsu which didn't target his chakra but formed a real illusion in the world. 

"Ahh," 

At this time, he saw a single white rabbit biting him on his toe and glaring at him with eerie red eyes.

Knowing that this single rabbit was the real summon animal, he was about to kick it away but at this time it turned entirely black and then like a shadow, it vanished.

He was confuse but then he realized that he didn't saw Shikamaru after that, looking around he coudn't even sense him. And at this time he heard.

"Shadow Possession Technique, Complete,"
