28 Chapter 28 : Back to Village
The training kept on going, and Shikamaru ended up helping both Sasuke and Naruto in tree walking.
Without anyone's intervention, the mission pretty much went unhindered. And thanks to having more shinobi in the mission, everyone got more time to train. By the time the mission ended, Shikamaru was just rolling with anticipation.
And finally, he got a good news and a bad news. The good news is that Zabuza died in his unconsciousness, while the bad news is that Haku never came to him.
The last part he was expecting honestly. She or He whatever, doesn't have any reason to accept Shikamaru's invitation here.
But that's fine, after all the only thing he wanted is that Haku doesn't stand against him, against Konoha. Again after observing the situation, he didn't think that that would happen.
The mission was marked as a success, both the missions.
As the gate of Konoha approached, all the dull eyes of the Genin grew with bright light, none of them were able to bathe much or have a good sleep. And finally, they wanted to rest.
But before that both the team had to first visit the Hokage office to give the report of the two missions they took. But seeing the condition of their genin, both Asuma and Kakashi just took it upon themselves to report the mission to the Hokage while letting the genin go back to rest.

"Shikamaru," call one very emo uchiha.
Shikamaru knew that this was coming. He was getting that 'I wanna fight you', look from him since he took down Zabuza. Of course, he later on indirectly also explains that he was only able to do so, becuase he had the element of surprise on his side.
"huh," Shika still kept his usual nonchalant attitude.
"Fight me,"
'And here it comes,' Shikamaru thought with an annoyed look. This guy is so troublesome. So much so that Shikamaru rather marry Sakura than deal with Sasuke."
"..."
Okay maybe not Sakura but still he is the most troublesome character after only three, Obtio, Danzo and Black Zetsu.
"Why, that's such a drag. I'm going back to get a good nap," Shikamaru said while yawning which made even Sasuke twitch his eyebrow. His laziness was very contagious.
Sasuke was very much aware of Shikamaru's lazy personality. For a second even he fell into contemplation on how to make Shikamaru fight him. That one second though was enough.
With a simple shun shin, he vanishes from his place, leaving Sasuke behind full of confusion and then a grim look appears on his face.
He didn't know how to do shun shin, narrowing his eyes, he ran towards his house, planning to search through his clan books for this jutsu.
"So troublesome," Shikamaru mutters to himself before coming home. But upon finding no one at home he grumbles.
Honestly, he was pretty hungry, taking a shower he made a beeline for the market, but after remembering that he wanted to eat some ramen, he changed his route towards Naruto's favourite ramen shop.

As Shikamaru reached the famous Ramen shop, he found their all-time greatest patreon there, waiting for his servings.
"Yo Shikamaru, what are you doing here? You too here to get some Ramen," Naruto had a silly smile on his face.
"Yeah, uncle please give whatever Naruto here is having just not as much,"
"Coming right up," Came the reply as he saw the old man making the ramen. Shikamaru after seeing the old man started to observe him with much attention, many fanfictions have this hypothesis that he is the mastermind behind Naruto.
Could it be that the Ramen guy is the strongest? Is he also an alien with funky eyes?
"Oi Shikamaru what are you thinking, did you not hear what I said," Naruto almost shouted near his ear, making him cringe while quickly covering his ears.
"Idiot don't shout near my ear," Shikamaru almost shouted. He looks back at the Ramen guy whose name he can't remember. Sighing he knew that he was mostly wasting time and turning back to Naruto.
"Okay tell me again, what you were staying again,".
"The fight, the fight. You took care of Zabuza Back then, when I asked you said that you would explain once we get to Konoha," Naruto exclaims.
"Oh, I said that ?" Shikamaru knocked his head, trying to remember when he did something like that, but seeing the mega-watt smile on Naruto's face he remembered. Yes, the same smile was on his face back when he asked him back in the land of waves.
"Well alright, what do you want to ask,"
"Oh you know you were .... " From that point onwards Naruto kept on babbering things until Shikamaru completed his serving of Ramen. It took him all this time to actually come to the real point.

"So let me get it straight, you want to get stronger but your Jonin sensei is not teaching you any jutsu, and thus you need me to teach you some to become a super awesome cool Ninja so that you can become the next Hokage and Marry your Sakura Chan... did I lose out something," Shikamaru asked with veins popping on his forehead.
He would have long ditched Naruto somewhere but considering him getting stronger is better for the story, Shikamaru just ate the blue pill and endured the infuriating Blond.
"Exactly," Naruto said with a smile.
"I hate blonds,"
"Okay then, I believe that you have your sunday's free right? Come to the Nara clan forest on the early morning there then. We will start with your training." Shikamaru replied and then moved on not waiting for Naruto.
