25 Chapter 25 : Haku

By the time the two teams reached Tazuna's house, the atmosphere was gloomy. Not to mention the students but even Jonin Sensei was under depression at this time. None of them were talking and after settling down, the situation almost became awkward.

Not knowing what to say, Shikamaru just internally sigh, " Such a drag,".

And then got up to get some training, wasting time for him right now is a sin. 

"Rest, I'm going to get some training done, I'll be back by sunset," Shikamaru with much awkwardness said and got out of the damn house.

'Maybe I shouldn't have said all those things, ultimately they won the final fight in the anime, just a little dead here and there but nothing more,' Shikamaru grumbled under his breath.

After fiding a suitable place to train, he now had to see what to train in. "Let's start with analysing what I did wrong till now," Shikamaru thought and sat down after putting one of his divine dogs on guard and started to think back on things which he shouldn't have done or should have done better. Now that he has time, thinking about what he could have done differently was giving him many different ways to handle the situation.

"Bark," but just when he was getting in the feeling of meditating more, his white wolf started to bark, alerting him of someone's presence.

Slowly opening his eyes, he found that a cute-looking girl of his age wearing a big dress coming towards him. Not being able to sense his surroundings is really an issue for him, his wolf can help him but he needs something permanent about this soon.

'Is this Haku?' Shikamaru questioned himself, he couldn't say this guy totally looked like a girl. Or she is a girl and lying the whole time. Shikamaru now was curious.

"What are you doing here, Shinobi San," Asked the girl whom Shikamaru suspected of being Haku, it's not like he knew what the dude looked like or whether he was a dude or not in the first place.

"Trying to find peace in this crazy world," Shikamaru's snarky reply brings a little twitch on her ... his face.

"What are you doing here, and who are you ?" 

"I live here, close to the mountain, came here to pick up herbs. I am Haku and you Shinobi san," Haku replied as she maintained her distance between her and my wolf.

(A/N: Oh man, I kept on writing her instead of him, just bear with that)

'Well until I find what this guy really is, I rather just believe that she is a girl, for the time being, that is,' Shikamaru internally grumbled as he was getting confused about how to address the enemy in front of him.

"I see, I am Shikamaru. A Konoha Shinobi, am here on a mission,"

"Oh that's something Shinobi san, do you travel often in your missions," Haku showed faked interest and asked.

"No, not exactly but I guess you do, don't you," Shikamaru said, not even trying to hide that he knew the person in front of him was a shinobi.

Haku at this visibly tensed up but still acted like she didn't understand anything, not like Shikamaru directly pointed out that she was a shinobi. And even if he knows, he still doesn't know that she is with Zabuza.

"What do you mean, Shinobi..." 

"Cut the trap already, you are a shinobi I can tell by the small muscles you are hiding in that slender body of yours and although I might not be proficient in sensing chakra, my friend here is," Shikamaru said as he pointed at the wolf standing beside him.

This totally makes her on defence. Looking around to find how many people are there, hidden weapons, traps etc.

"Why so defensive? you are almost acting like an enemy there." Shikamaru again said in his nonchalant attitude. 

This makes her at ease but only slightly. Shikamaru only bothered to talk with her as he wanted to bring her back to the village if possible after Zabuza passed out. 

He is sure that even now Zabuza was unconscious, unusual but nothing alarming as Haku's technique does put the target unconscious. But that is just the start as while he is unconscious, the slow poison is already spreading through him. He will die in his sleep and then the poison symptoms will erase themselves. Technically this makes this a perfect assassination.

Its just doesn't work if the target is conscious as then they will find the breathing problem they are having and find a solution. Even a little chakra can make them handle the poison for a long time until they get a cure. But now he just gonna die in his sleep with the lack of oxygen. 

When infected by this poison the one thing one must not do is sleep. That is lethal. 

"Now go on, you were planning to pick herbs right," Shikamaru said and again went back to his meditation but had his guard against Haku.

There was no attack from him, but in the end, when he opened his eyes Haku was still there. 

'Hmm, she is not hurrying so there is that, but I do know that she sent a clone back.

Maybe its time to talk about recruiting her ?
