"All You have to do is, touch me once, but to make it a little bit interesting, I won't be able to leave this training field"

"It's to determine your personal strength so you will come at me, one by one, you have 10 minutes each for a total of 30 minutes"

"Only that? that's too easy!" The boy said, not realizing how stupid he sounded.

As not even a Genin yet, he must touch a jonin. This task is way more difficult than it sounds.

"Since you think so, you will be the first!" Genma announced.

'Although our test is easier than what team Kakashi got through, it's still quite hard for normal a civilian in training to accomplish such feat.' Ichigo thought, Observing the current examinee's attempts to touch the jonin fail miserably.

'his strength is barely higher compared to a normal adult man, did he really think it would be easy to touch one of the elites of the village? Ridiculous!'

"You failed"

Soon the boy's allowed time came to an end, he was already out of breath while the Jonin looked like he barely did any effort at all.

The boy was so tired that he didn't even have the necessary energy to complain.

"You, You're next" He looked and pointed toward Ichigo, signaling that his turn arrived.

Ichijo took place, he observed the jonin carefully, taking account of any detail that may help him attain his main goal.

"You can come to me" Genma incited. He didn't look like it but he was on his guard. Having observed Ichigo for a little less than a week, he knew the boy's strong point was his speed so he has to be careful or he might as well get touched from the beginning.

While Ichigo was attentively observing him, he was doing the same, no in fact he was even more focused than Ichigo. That's why he was quick to respond when the boy suddenly attacked.

'As expected, it seems like he is already wary of my speed' Ichigo remarked, seeing the man flicker away to avoid his attack. But that didn't discourage him.

He instead did something that surprised the jonin as much as the 2 others. He sat down where he was and closed his eyes.

'What is he even doing?' The girl wondered.

'Is he trying to catch me by surprise or something?' Genma also wondered.

'It doesn't matter anyway, time is against him' He shook his head but remained focused, attentive to any movement.

While everyone wondered what Ichigo was doing, he was just planning. Yes, planning his next course of action. With his thought accelerated he was taking all details into his calculation, making plans and all kinds of backups.

Plan A, plan, B, plan c, he kept going, if one doesn't work the other will, if that worked at first but fell short after, then another backup will be there. And if that also doesn't work... Well, another and then another. He will eventually succeed by preparing for all eventualities.

'Plans are nothing, planning is everything!'

'No plan survives contact with the enemy'

he still remembered those quotes from his last word, so he took his time, five whole minutes to plan ahead and once he was done, he opened his eyes.

Those eyes were full of certitude, he would find success in his endeavor, for failure was not an option.

Getting up, he took a deep breath, calmed his mind, looked at the Jonin, and smiled a little

'Let's get to work'

He reached for his backpack, took a volley of kunai, and threw them toward the Jonin. Kunais that were easily dodged, blocked, or deflected.

Using this small opportunity Ichigo ran at neck-breaking speed toward the Jonin, but he didn't try to touch him, instead, he ran around the man at a relatively medium distance.

'He wants me to lose focus?' the Jonin wondered 'but that won't be enough'

As Ichigo kept circling around him, a thick cloud of dirt rose. He decided that this was enough so he furtively did some hand signs.

The Jonin, even with his sight now rather useless, he didn't panic, he could still sense the boy's chakra, he was a sensor after all.

He soon saw a figure rushing toward him, but he didn't move, the figure just past through him.

'As expected, an after image, the basic academic Jutsu huh."

Since the figure had no chakra signature, he immediately knew that it was not the real Ichigo.

But this wasn't the end, that was followed by numerous attacks of Ichigo, and he started to tire off.

'How can he continuously keep this level of speed? Where does he find all this stamina from?'

Genma started to feel the pressure, It was getting harder and harder to fend off those attempts at his body, moreover, he didn't like having his sight obstructed, so he decided to leave the cloud of dust. Just to find he was already at the edge of the training field.

'My options are limited'

He wanted to quickly move from his current position, but Ichido didn't give him this chance, he sped up even more as he approached the Jonin.

Genma with no other choice did the only thing he could think of that would not be considered attacking.

"Doton: Mud Wall" He slamed the palm of his hands on the ground, a wall of earth rose. He wanted to use this to stop Ichigo's progress. But surprisingly the boy didn't stop at all.

'He is not stopping? No in fact he is accelerating'

Although he couldn't see Ichigo, he could still feel his chakra signature moving toward him at extreme speed.

As Ichigo approached the wall, he started vibrating his whole body till his figure become blury and he... he just phased through it, like it was a mere illusion.

'he got me'

Thought Genma as Ichigo abruptly stopped before him without any problem with his right hand touching the chest, well, the cloth around his chest area.

"You pass, but do explain how you did what you just did"

"I just vibrated my body to a certain frequency and I became practically intangible"

"Vibrate? How do you do something like that"

"Just like when you run or move, I just move my body in rapid motion, but vibrating through the wall like I just did is way more complicated... and take a high amount of physical and mental energy"

"You really are something else, it is not possible for a normal shinobi to accomplish such a thing, in fact, I doubt anyone else can replicate what you just did" Genma sighed, he made the right choice by choosing this boy.

"You, it's your turn!" Genma soon regained his calm, he was a Jonin after all he has already seen many extraordinary things in his life.

"I... I give up, I don't think I want to be a ninja anymore"

What she saw today was an eyes opener for her, she doubted that she would one day become this strong, so choose to give up on the carer of Shinobi altogether.

"You're free to go then"

Thar was nothing new from the Jonin's perspective, not everyone that joins the academy ends up as a shinobi, in fact, most chose to give up and look for another carer path.

"Ichigo, it seems like you will be my only disciple for now"

"Let's get something to eat follow me'

"Also, I am Genma Shiranui, let's get along"

The Jonin's personality seemed to take a 90-degree turn, becoming way more amicable and easygoing compared to his former persona.

'Ouf... I almost thought that I was in an alternative universe seeing how his personality was different from canon. But it seems like all of this was just him acting'

"Fumikage Ichigo at your service!"
