29 Chapter 29 - The Month After
"What an ugly child."
In the Hokage Office, Mira was holding Naruto, a newly born infant. Curled up in her arms, Kagami nodded with her statement. Naruto truthfully was not cute looking as an infant since he was only born a few hours ago.
"I'm sure he will be as cute as any other child in a few days." Hiruzen laughed as he looked out the window.
Dressed in white robes as the Hokage hat sat on the desk, Hiruzen was just temporarily reinstated just a few moments ago. Outside the window the flames that were roaring a few hours ago were being put out as civilians and shinobi began repairing the village.
"Maybe," Mira replied. "He is a little small though."
"He is perfectly healthy, Kushina mentioned that Uzumaki children tend to be smaller than the average when they are young." Kagami answered. "Now the question is, who will take care of him."
"Isn't his godfather Jiraya?" Mira answered. "Just bring him back to raise him."
"Not possible. As we speak, messages of the Nine Tails' havoc are undoubtedly heading to the other villages." Kagami filled in before Hiruzen spoke. "While the war just ended and the other villages are lacking shinobi, it won't stop them from trying their luck. So Jiraiya is most likely needed to run around collecting intel."
"Kagami is correct, Jiraiya is Konoha's best spy master and truth be told. I don't feel he is well fitted to raising a child." Hiruzen explained.
"Then who will raise him? Minato's remaining student isn't fit to raise him." Mira pointed out. "It is also a terrible idea to put him into the orphanage."
Neither Kagami nor Hiruzen said anything as they were limited on what was acceptable. Since Kagami's original plan was to at least keep Minato or Kushina alive, he didn't really prepare many options for this situation. Which served him in increasing his planning for the future, since now it came back to bite him.
"Then why don't I take him." Mira said as she realized why neither answered her.
"Impossible I'm afraid. Many saw the sharingan in the Nine Tails eyes tonight and for the next period of time…" Hiruzen said but didn't complete his words.
"Not only that, but we are only ten and neither Maru nor Taiyō are young." Kagami answered.
"He is right and if my guess is right. You two will be busy for the next while." Hiruzen said. "So for now, Naruto will be placed in the orphanage where he can hopefully grow up normally."
Kagami sent a glance at Mira as they both felt that was near impossible to do. Not only is Naruto the son of Minato and Kushina, the nine tails jinchuriki, but during the months Kagami was monitoring Kushina's pregnancy. Naruto not only shows signs of having immense chakra, but has one of the highest talents data tables Kagami managed to collect.

Underneath Konoha where the secret location of Root is located. An aging man with black hair and a large x shaped scar on his chin looked at the vial before him. Then he waved for the man dressed in black to leave as he scanned the notes before him.
A creepy semi-grin formed as the corner of his mouth lifted slightly as he double checked the notes. Once he was sure, he unhesitantly opened the vial and took a light sip from it. After downing nearly half the bottle, the man felt his chakra and body slowly increase. His body screamed in joy as the signs of age slowly reverted making him feel five to ten years younger.
"If he can make such a serum at such a young age. It may be necessary to remove him in the future." Danzo muttered to himself.

In the following weeks, Kagami and Mira were among the rest of Shinobi who were bustling about in and out of the village. Due to their high ranks, they were in fact more busy than the genin and chunins. Mission after mission they ran across the land of fire and even crossed a couple borders. Which lasted for nearly a month until they managed to grab a small day off between missions.
After returning to the laboratory for the first time in a month, Kagami walked in to instantly notice he had been robbed. Most of his equipment was still around, but the serum he was testing was missing as well notes he had laying around.
Quickly checking all the missing things, Kagami let out a sigh of relief as nothing important was stolen. The notes were the basics information on the serum and its effects. However, if he remembers correctly he didn't list the side effects on those notes yet. So whoever stole it, he hopes they used it on themselves.
However, being stolen from and really no real leads who did it. Kagami was slightly annoyed and decided to use this eye opener and upgrade the security. Since clearly someone was interested in what he has going on in his laboratory.

Underground, Danzo was tapping his desk as he looked at the pale man before him. Dressed in the standard jonin uniform, the man had yellow snake-like eyes, long smooth black hair and snake-like tongue.
"What do you need, Danzo?" Orochimaru asked almost in a sarcastic tone.
"I need you to recreate and if possible improve this." Danzo answered while ignoring the man's tone.
Taking a file, Orochimaru glanced over it with the information that piqued his interest. He just glanced at Danzo and the file as he compared it to his latest research. Which sparked a few ideas he previously didn't consider.
"I can try, but don't ask for much. It will be difficult without the formula or a sample to study." Orochimaru answered before leaving.
"Wait, there's one more thing. Have you succeeded in implanting Hashirama Cells in a subject?" Danzo asked coldly, studying the man in front of him.
"Nope." Orochimaru said and vanished into the dark tunnel.
Tapping the chair arm, Danzo frowned as he just continued to stare. Before his eyes drifted to the report of wood release being used on the night of the Nine Tails. However, either no one saw who did it or chose not to report it.
