17 Chapter 17: Zombie hoard

Naruto didn't have many other choices than using his shuriken and kunai to whittle down the numbers of the hoard as much as possible while staying on the rooftops and then going down and dealing with the rest of them.

Naruto had around a total of 100 shurikens and kunai combined and the number of zombies was almost double that, from a brief counting Naruto could see at least 200 maybe 250 zombies walking towards him, all of them had the same status and the same craziness in their eyes.

Naruto started slowly and meticulously shooting down the large number of zombies, Naruto focused a lot on throwing headshots since if he hit them correctly he could one-shot them, of course, that didn't happen most of the times so in total he had killed a total of 60 zombies equaling to 7500 EXP, which he leveled up twice from.

Now that Naruto ran out of things to throw all he could do was fight them head-on, which could be very dangerous to Naruto.

Naruto now had a large battle ahead of him, and his heart was beating harder than it ever had before, this would be his first large-scale battle and he was excited about it.

Naruto unsheathed his sword and put its sheat back into his inventory, the blade reflected the eerie dark light and even made the zombies think twice about attacking Naruto.

Naruto didn't think twice and rushed at the first zombie he saw, they had lower stats than him and their techniques were worse too, the only thing they had on him were numbers which while dangerous wasn't that much of an advantage on this scale.

Each time Naruto's sword swung a zombie's head would be decapitated, at the start, he would get hit a couple of times and was even bitten twice but the more he fought the better he got at dodging their slow movements, Naruto's reflexes got better the more he fought and his dexterity even went up by two points and his strength by 1.

It took Naruto a total of two hours of fighting and a lot of struggling to defeat all the zombies, in total he had killed 220 zombies totaling 27500 exp, this was with counting the 7500 he had gained previously, he had 2125 exp before fighting the hoard and in total he leveled up 5 times and was around halfway to level 9, his vitality increased by 50 points bringing it over 100 and his intelligence had almost reached 50.

Naruto looked at his Vitality and realized how monstrous it actually was, even the Chunin he had observed only had at most 80, while he, as a academy student already had over 100, Naruto was really glad that he had those ridiculous perks.

Naruto went back to his apartment and left the ID, the dark world broke around him as he reappeared in his bathroom, only then did he realize that he stunk, quite badly too since he had been running around cutting down corpses, so he quickly took a bath and threw on some fresh clothes.

He opened his status again and clicked on the previously empty class slot where 'Zombie Hunter' now was proudly displayed.

The description was pretty short but it pretty much explained the whole thing, Naruto didn't expect much more either.

Now there was one more thing for Naruto to check out and that was the skill scroll that he had gotten from the quest.

Naruto opened his inventory and saw a bright blue glowing scroll sitting in one of the slots, he quickly casted an observe on it and read its description.

Again the description was very curt and informative.

Naruto took the scroll out of his inventory and looked at it with interest, the scroll had a faint blue glow around it.

The option to use the scroll immediately came up, and Naruto clicked yes.

While Naruto wasn't disappointed he wasn't that happy either, he had just fought over 200 zombies for a cooking skill, but he wasn't ungrateful, he had tried to gain a cooking skill many times before but no matter how hard he tried it seemed as if the universe simply didn't want it to happen, not to mention that if he cooked something that was more complicated than some eggs it always ended up tasting horrible, his kitchen almost burnt down once, he was lucky that Dog was there on that day to save his kitchen, otherwise he could've said goodbye to his apartment.

Now that he had gained a cooking skill he couldn't wait to test it out.

Naruto didn't have anything planned for the weekend and Dog would always show up on Mondays so he didn't have much to do other than studying or training, so he did just that.

And like that his first ID expedition ended in a massive success.
