Chapter 36 : Damn
" Yes i like her but so what ?! " i blurted out with a smirk and turn to look at tsunade with her gloomy aura turning to a cheerful one much to my relief .
' i ain't laying tsunade but i really need you as a shield against your grandma. Not that i am afraid, quite the opposite actually, i feel excited, but i am not that dump to not know that i could die with her just lifting her finger. and i don't plan to die this soon ' i thought with some concerns while feeling like shit to confess like this.
I then look around to see that every student's focus were on us much to my annoyance again .
' they sure do like to stick their nose in people's business. And, what's with that jealous and anger looks getting thrown at me ? Do they have a have a crush on my tsunade ? ' i thought with a wide grin and look at them with a stare promising pain .
They immediately look away in fear and go back to do their stuff.
" well, that's what i wanted to hear from you " i hear ken say with his hand on my shoulder and i just nod him.
Hmm, this dude sure became relaxed around me real fast, does it have to do anything with that test he did ? Can someone become your bestie just because of what you prefer in women ? this world's people really have a different pattern of thinking that's freaking me out sometimes .
or am i becoming a push over ? but i also don't want to look like some unapproachable dude who is always gloomy and make my mom angry at me again, so i think i am doing good for now, not that i will stay in this waste of time shithole after i convince my parents to something.
I look around the students which i ignored for sometime already and ask yuji " hey yuji, can you tell me who is that weird Uchiha ? "
" can i answer that question ?! " ken excitedly interrupted yuji who opened his mouth tiredly to speak.
" well, sure go ahead, not like i want to waste my already limited energy " yuji replied lazily with his hands behind his head interlocked.
ken nodded and turned to me " Ok listen, that's Uchiha Ryu. He is the cousin of the uchiha clan head and one of the best students here besides the three disciples of the hokage. He is proficient in genjutsu and ninjutsu " ken said and i look at the Uchiha in confusion because of how he acted flamboyantly right now while pushing back his long black hair upwards with his hand.
" you are questioning yourself if he is really an Uchiha because of how he acts, right ? " ken said with a knowing smile.
" yea " i replied honestly and look at ken, expecting an explanation.
" well, actually there's a reason why he is like that..." he said with his smile fluttering a little and i get curious.
* munch munch munch *
Amidst the munching of satoshi eating chips which gave an idea to me for later, ken began to whisper near my ear while we looked at ryu together " 2 years ago ryu used to be broody, silent and an emo kid who always had this serious unapproachable aura around him, you know, just like the usual uchihas you see out there" he whispered with a frown.
" so what happened ? " i whispered back, interested in the topic .
There is no internet here, so gossiping sometimes is the way to pass time.
" one day, he suddenly fell in love with a civilian student girl " he paused for a moment which made me interested more " the girl was playful, cheerful and mischievous, completely opposite to our uchiha friend here. And one day, ryu confessed his love for the girl..." ken paused again for a moment.
" sighh, i still remember that day when ryu came to me reluctantly for some tips and advice about what to do. I happily helped him and told him somethings that will surely make the girl accept his feelings " he sighed and said.
I look at him with my eyebrow raised because " by that look i know that you probably thinking like, how can some pervert know how to give love advice, right ? " he added with a knowing smile and i nod at him.
" well, maybe i will tell you later how but let me finish this one first " he said and continued what he wanted to talk about " i did give him some advice that day and guess what ? The girl accepted his feelings ! " he said with a small smile for a moment " but with a condition " and added with a frown next with his finger raised.
" what condition ? " i asked with my eyes narrowed.
" the girl made a condition that ryu should first get rid of his broody and emo behaviour to become more cheerful because that was what her type of men she liked, for the men to be like herself. like smiling more, become better socially, more cheerful and playfully " he said with an ominous aura surrounding him.
" then ? " i ask eager to know the remaining part.
' this is getting creepy ' i thought with excitement.
I didn't know that gossiping is this fun, or maybe my sense of fun disoriented after reincarnating.
" then ryu accepted her condition readily without much thought. And from this moment here started their life as a couple, so listen carefully " he again paused for a moment and continued " they were with each other all the time, eating, studying, going out on dates, you know the usual things couples do and shit like that but... "
" but ? " i ask while narrowing my eyes.
" last year, his girlfriend died " he suddenly dropped the bomb of the story which made my eyes go wide for a moment and look at ryu with pity.
" how ?! " i ask in bewilderment with my arms crossed.
" it was because of an illness she had that she never told ryu until the last moment " he said with a sad smile.
I look at ryu while thinking that i have seen this kind of crap only in some tragic korean romance and animes.
ken brings back my attention and " we haven't seen ryu for quite a while after that day and when he came back, he was just like that. His smile never disappearing and acting flamboyantly all the time "
i became concerned, so one day i asked if he is really ok and not sad about it but guess what did he say to me... " he paused and looked at the ceiling with a sad smile.
i just stayed silent and looked at ken to finish.
"he said that... she taught me how to love, But not how to stop. when she died she told me to continue to smile not frown, so i will just live and continue to smile even in my death, so maybe when i die, i could see her again with me still smiling " ken said with a genuine smile on his face.
" sighh, that's deep man " i said while slightly feeling touched as i suddenly remember that quote where it says that ' behind every smile is a tragic history ' .
this story of ryu just shows that this world is very real and maybe millions of stories like this out there is already happening or happened.
" i know, right ?! " ken said and immediately turned back to his usual self " ok now, enough sad stories. Who else do you want to know ? " he asked and i pointed at the hyuga who was sitting in the front.
" fate fate fate... " then he started to talk about some fate and destiny bullshit that i didn't give a crap about.
And like this, he started to tell me who the students are between the rests of our classes, with the classes subject being all about maths and things that made me sleep instantly.
2 hours later /
It was lunch time and i bought some ramen to eat under the shade of a tree with yuji, satoshi and ken who had their own food to eat.
I turn to look at satoshi who was gulping down dumplings " hey satoshi, ken told me that your father is the clan head, right ? " i ask satoshi.
He looked at me for a second " yes daifuku-san, miso ramen is right " he said and we sweat dropped at him.
'Sighhh bro, this dude really lives in the realm of food. He really thinks that we are food. Well, except yuji, then everybody else is food for him ' i thought.
" i have some business regarding some secret recipes that's only special to the hatake clan that i plan to share to your clan, is your father at home today ? because i want to have a meeting with him " i asked him.
My clan's money is running out and it won't be enough for me to build a dojo and fund it, so a passive income is needed. And what's better than the food industry which i could take advantage of by introducing some modern dishes to this world.
Satoshi immediately smiled widely with dumplings visible in his mouth " new food ? " he said and i rub my forhead tiredly.
" yes, do you want new delicious food ? " i ask in a tone to avoid being sound like some shady guy who sells questionable things to kids.
* Gulp *
" yes daifuku-san, i will tell my dad quickly when i go back " he said cheerfully and i nod at him and look at the other two who were busy eating their stuff without caring for our conversation too much.
then i start to eat my own stuff and stand up with them after sime time to leave for the remaining classes.
2 hours later /
I was standing at the entrance gate of the academy, waiting for tsunade.
* step step step step *
I turn to look at where the sound of footsteps were, only for me to see that she finally came out of the academg with the addition of two others which i very well know who they are.
Tsunade immediately got closer to me " ahh sorry garou for being late. Did you wait for long ? " she asked with some concern while putting his hair behind her ear.
" no, i just came out of the academy moments ago, but may i ask who those two are beside you ? " i ask even though i already know but i didn't formally meet them yet.
" oh, i guess you guys didn't meet yet, so let me introduce you. this one on my left is orochimaru and the one on the right is jiraiya, guys he is garou as you already know ! " she introduced them to me with a smile.
" nice to meet you " orochimaru said calmly while looking up at me because i was much taller.
" sup ! " jiraiya just raised his hand and greeted with his other hand busy picking his nose.
I just nod at them, not really interested in getting involved with them right now because of how busy my mind is trying to get ready for every possible scenario with mito.
" will your friends come with us too tsunade ? " i ask with a frown, annoyed.
" Hey ! Don't just ignore us and yes we will com- "
* Bam ! * " aghhh "
" Shut up ! and no you won't come with us, me and garou have some business together, so you two can go home without me today, ok ? " she said as she punched jiraiya at back of his head which made his eyes bulge out and spit out saliva.
" ok "
" No ! I will come with yo- "
* Bam ! *
And jiraiya passed out on the ground after that punch from tsunade, and orochimaru already leaving to somewhere which slightly made me curious at where he actually lives.
but for now, let's meet mito.
