25 Yasui's Team

On the very same day that Hiruzen and Kakashi visited the living quarters of the new genins, the first team meeting day had finally arrived. At this point in time, Yasui didn't know which team he is on, so he is filled with curiosity.

So, he left after taking his getting ready for the day. Katsumi took a morning shower soon after he left.

When he finally got to the classroom, Yasui saw a scene that made him speechless. Naruto was smooching Sasuke!! Sasuke's first kiss was stolen!

The girls that had a crush on Sasuke screamed in horror, Sakura included. They were like Hyenas, waiting to each take a bite out of Naruto.

"Yasui, you're finally here!" Ino greeted Yasui with her hands behind her back. Unlike the canon where she was head over heels for Sasuke, Ino seems to have a more mild personality. She also seems to have nurtured a better relationship with Sakura, and their friendship never really fell apart.

"Hello, Ino…" Yasui's gaze went to Ino's chest, and he squinted his eyes, looking as if he is in deep thought. Obviously, he's teasing Ino with his actions.

"Yasui, you perv!" Ino hid her chest and looked away. Every! Single! Time! This person bullies her on her breasts!

"Yay! My Yasui, nya!" Tachibana jumped on Yasui from behind. Her amber hair had turned long and beautiful, making her look much more mature.

"..." Yasui didn't know how to deal with Tachibana. She is a really bold person, and he's afraid of saying things to her. Over the past few years, he had told her a bunch of nonsense, and she tried her best to fulfill his requests.

Her actions almost made his heart stop on multiple occasions. Hence, every time she comes around, he just tries to pretend that she doesn't exist.

"Oi, Tachibana! Stop hanging on Yasui!" Ino yelled at Tachibana and yanked her away from Yasui. Her relationship with Sakura had indeed turned good, but her relationship with Tachibana had turned extremely sour.

That girl had no boundaries! Over the course of the last few years, she pulled many stunts, trying to reel Yasui into her bum! However, Ino would prevent her from doing her bold antics as much as possible.

This battle between Ino and Tachibana made Yasui feel relieved. For yin, there is yang, and those two clearly balance each other out.

"As of today, you are all ninjas. To get here, you've faced difficult trials and hardships, but that's nothing. What comes next will be far more difficult. Now, you all are only genins–first level ninjas. All the genin will be grouped into three-man squads. Each squad will be led by a Jonin, an elite ninja." Iruka stood on the podium and explained the new chapter of his students' life.

Some of the genin acted shocked as this is their first time hearing about three-man squads.

Yasui already knew this, so he looked bored. He looked to his left and right, seeing Ino and Tachibana glaring at one another. He just hoped that he wouldn't be paired up with them. He might get a little… distracted.

"We want the teams to be balanced, so that's how we set them up. I will now announce the squads." Iruka spoke about something that he didn't have control over.

All of the new ninjas listened intently, hoping that they were put in together with friends. They also hoped that they will get a good Jonin squad leader.

"Team 7, Naruto Uzumaki, Yasui Uchiha, and Sasuke Uchiha."

"Yes! I got the team with Yasui!!!... But why is Sasuke on the team?" Naruto grouched. He'd rather have Sakura on the team.

Yasui found this a little unexpected. Although many viewers believed Sakura to be a useless character, he didn't think so. Sakura definitely had her uses as a medical ninja. He decided that if it was possible, he wanted to try and push her into the direction of a medical-nin. If he can't, then it won't matter too.

When Sasuke heard that his team included Naruto, he wanted to vomit. He never really got along with Naruto. He also didn't like Yasui. He was amazed way back then that Yasui had awakened his Sharingan, but other than seeing Genjutsu being cast once during a class spar, he had never seen Yasui's abilities. Yasui's grades are also average in the academy, giving him the impression that Yasui isn't amazing in any way. Hence, he hopes that these two fools won't hold him back.

"Team 8, Hinata Hyuga, Shino Aburame, and Kiba Inuzuka."

"Team 9, Sakura Haruno, Tachibana Kohaku, and Airi Akizuki."

"Team 10, Ino Yamanaka, Shikamaru Nara, and Choji Akamichi."

…

"Those are all of the squads." Iruka finished reading the list.

"Iruka Sensei, why do great ninjas like me and Yasui have to be on the same team as a rat like Sasuke?" Naruto stood up and protested, also dragging Yasui into the conversation.

Sasuke gave Naruto a menacing glance, but he ultimately didn't waste any energy arguing with Naruto.

Slightly annoyed, Iruka retorted: "Sasuke had the best score of all the graduating students. Yasui had a standard score. And you, Naruto, had the worst score. Putting all of you guys into the same team balances it out."

Hearing Iruka, the whole class laughed at Naruto for standing out like a fool.

"Just don't get in my way, losers." Sasuke acted cool, and he didn't even glance at Naruto. He also didn't want to look at Yasui.

Yasui just sat there, pondering about his future pursuits within Team 7. It's true that he hadn't been fostering a good relationship with Sasuke, but that may need to change.
