19 Reinventing

The academy classes ended, and it was truly boring. Apparently, what's taught there is only the surface-level knowledge of everything about being a ninja. This included battle types, rules and regulations in being a ninja, and core education such as reading, writing, and mathematics.

The knowledge that's to be learned is so elementary that Yasui didn't pay attention at all. Instead, he spent his time playing tricks on his classmates with genjutsu.

One pitiful girl cried out in class, claiming that she saw a ghost.

Another girl got up and picked up an apple, but she realized that she picked up nothing.

Yasui also played a trick on a boy, convincing the boy to stand up when Iruka asked for volunteers to answer some math questions. The boy didn't know how to do the math questions, so he made a fool of himself.

All of this was to help him create visions that his targets conceive to be real. He planned on continuing this for a while before trying it out on Iruka–a Chunin.

So, after a long day at the academy, Yasui returned to the apartment. He smelt a captivating aroma once he entered.

"Yasui, you're back!" Katsumi poked her head out of the kitchen with a spatula in hand. Her face looked a little red.

Yasui didn't think much about it, but Katsumi felt a burning sensation on the inside. She had read through the Shinobi Love Master Vol. 2, and she vividly remembers all of the scenes. She won't talk to Yasui about it, though! It's too embarrassing to do so.

"Yep, I'm back. Are you making hamburgers?" Yasui guessed by the aroma in the air.

"Yes, I am. But, there is an ingredient that I couldn't find nor understand from the recipe that you gave me." Katsumi invited Yasui to sit down and presented the hamburgers to him.

"Which ingredient is it?" Yasui picked up a juicy hamburger and sniffed it before putting it into his mouth. Instantly, the soft bun melted in his mouth, and a relishing crunchy texture of lettuce and tomato came soon after.

A homemade ketchup condiment was also spread inside the hamburger, enhancing the taste even further. Although there wasn't any pre-existing ketchup in this world, it wasn't hard to make.

"Well, It's the preservatives. I can't find any of these around the village. Nobody knows about them." Katsumi had a concerned look on her face. She didn't want to burden Yasui too much, but she really was stuck on this detail.

The whole fast-food business that Yasui described relied heavily on this preservative. Essentially, this ingredient is supposed to make it so that the hamburger doesn't grow mold when stored in the freezer. It's also supposed to help maintain the burger's color, texture, and flavor.

"I was afraid of this." Yasui sighed a little. His studies from the modern world did not include a lot food science.

He racked his brain and recalled a piece of information that he did research on when he was back in high school. This research paper went in-depth into the ingredients of Mcdonald's preservatives.

He took out a scroll and immediately jotted the information down while talking to himself: "The preservatives should include sodium benzoate, calcium propionate, and potassium sorbate. There's also calcium disodium EDTA and BHa, which acts as antioxidants to help prevent the fat and oil from going rancid… The molecular formula for the compounds is… The processing steps for each of the compounds are…" (A/N: He is that smart, dattebayo!)

Yasui felt his brain fried after writing everything down. However, considering that he plans to sell business locations of the fast-food chain in the future, this is a necessary step that he had to take. Since there weren't any preservatives at the current time, developing them first will give him a massive advantage in the food industry. He might even be able to sell the preservatives as its own product.

"This is… a lot. I don't even understand any of the information on here." Katsumi felt overwhelmed, more than before. Dealing with the business and cooking is still fine, but this task is outside of her scope of knowledge and comfort zone.

"Don't worry, big sis Katsumi. I don't expect you to make this. I will find a person to make this for us. You just keep working on the current tasks that I gave you." Yasui knew that he could find a person to make these preservative compounds for him.

After all, there's a technology that can even create clones out there. There's obviously technology in this region to create the compounds. It just takes money.

And he's about to get another wad of money soon.

"Then… okay." Katsumi nodded her head and watched as Yasui went to the desk to package up the Shinobi Love Master vol. 2. Her face turned bright red again after being reminded of the scenes that she read.

"The hamburger is delicious. You can also create variations of the hamburger so that we can expand our menu a bit. For example, you can add bacon onto the hamburger. Well, I'm off to do some tasks." Yasui left the apartment with his new volume. He wanted to get this book to the Shiba publishing firm so that he can increase his pockets.

He also planned to keep training later.

Inside Root's underground headquarters.

In a private residence.

An old man with a bandaged eye and arm sat in his enclosed room. He read the message that was recently delivered to him.

[ Due to your failure of acquiring the Sharingans, only an arm with two eyes is created. You will need to find a time to come out of the village for the limb transplant. ]

"Damn that Itachi!" Danzo once again cursed at Itachi for plucking out the Uchiha eyes. He firmly believed that it was due to Itachi that all of the eyes are gone.

It's too bad that he couldn't get more eyes on the arm, but Danzo relented. Some power is better than no power. He plans to go to Orochimaru as soon as possible.

Because of the missing eyes, Orochimaru didn't have enough eyes to embed on Shin Uchiha's arm. Shin Uchiha isn't exactly of Uchiha descent. He is a clone that Orochimaru created, using the DNA of an Uchiha.

Surprisingly, Orochimaru found that Shin's body is extremely compatible with tissue transplants, especially so with the Sharingan. So, Orochimaru started a research project concerning this, and he was able to transplant the Sharingan on Shin Uchiha's body.

Danzo also took an interest in this project, and he relentlessly got Orochimaru to help him get an arm of functioning Sharingan. He wanted to replace the damaged arm that he currently has with an arm that could boost his powers.

Due to their cooperation back in the day, Orochimaru accepted Danzo's request. He planned to use Hashirama Senju's cells to attach the arm onto Danzo. He hypothesized that not only would this help the merging of the limb, but it will also significantly reduce the burden that the Sharingan has on Danzo, a person who isn't an Uchiha.
