1 Prologue

"What a drag..."

Shikamaru sighed as he rested after a hard day of a D-rank mission. It was to help out on a farm on the outskirts of Konoha.

'Haaaaah... I wish I was a cloud...'

Well, that wasn't something achievable, so he has chosen the next best course of how to live his life.

'I will not really become a strong ninja. I will marry a woman neither ugly nor too beautiful, have two kids, a boy and a girl, and when they grow up to become something, I will retire. Aah. That's too tiring too. I wish I could just be a cloud.'

"Shikamaru! Don't sleep there, and help us!"

Ino shouted at him, seemingly pissed at him.

'Dammit! She found me!'

Shikamaru has been lazing around on the roof of the commissioner of the mission, leaving Chouji and Ino to do the work.

He looked around and didn't find Asuma, so he jumped down to the other side of the house and hid in a room. And he instantly found a bed.

'I will be borrowing this.'

So, he hid beneath the bed so that Ino can't find him.

But then, he heard the door of the room getting shut and someone entering.

'... I wish I was a cloud... "

"Oh... They really look very similar to what Grandpa has left behind. Especially Ino-san."

Shikamaru's attention was instantly diverted towards the sound of the speaker. He recognised it. It was the commissioner' s voice.

Ichinose Eru, a troublesome girl from his class that is repeating her final year due to not being able to pass the real genin exam. From what he knew, she inherited this large farmland from her parents who died in the Kyuubi attack. And from what he knew from Ino's gossip he didn't want to hear, her grandpa just some days ago, who was her only living family member.

But, what has her Grandpa left behind? And why did he mention Ino?

Now, Shikamaru had two options.

First will be to come out from hiding and ask her about it. Knowing her personality, she will probably tell him. But that will raise several questions. And the major one will be, what is he doing under a girl's bed? He can't let his peaceful life be stained with the dark mark of being a peeper at such a young age.

And the second will be to wait for her to go out of the room, and then either investigate things himself or tell Asuma about it.

"Who's there!?"

Ah. It looks like he got caught. By someone who is not really a genin.

Sighing, he came out from under the bed, and immediately went into a bowing position.

"Shikamaru-kun!?"

"I was just hiding from Ino. Please don't tell anyone about it."

He heard her giggling, and he didn't really have a good feeling about it.

"Okay! But in return, please help me out in solving the mystery Grandpa left behind. I heard that you are very smart."

"From who?"

"Grandpa."

Well... This grandpa of hers seems like a person worth to look into more now.

He sat on the bed as she took out a diary from her shelf, and handed it to him.

Then, she clapped thrice, and the shelf magically reorganised, and a different set of books appeared.

Alright. He didn't need to know about such a troublesome secret.

"I can't really read what is written inside. But can you?"

She pointed to the diary, so he opened it to see what's inside.

The first page was of Ino, who looked 16-17 years old. And under it, it was written,

"Who is better!? My granddaughter or this top tier Waifu!?"

Ah. He wanted to close the diary right now.

"Can you read it!? Please tell me what is written! I am curious!"

She can't read it?

His eyes widened as text appeared magically in the next page.

"My granddaughter can't see it. If you are worthy, then you can. Rejoice, you are the chosen one! You not only get to be the hero who will save the world, but also my granddaughter's hand in marriage after turning 18!"
