-End of Note

The sun was finally setting, and Shinji was ready to get going. He quickly scoffed down whatever was left on his plate and abruptly stood up, speed walking towards the door. His exit was stifled, however, by the voice of his mother, who asked, "Where do you think you're going at this time?" Shinji facepalmed; he hadn't taken into account how his mother would react to him leaving at this time. Knowing he was now being interrogated, he knew he had to think of something quick, otherwise, he'd be labelled a 'Scaredy cat' for not showing up.

Remembering they had almost run out of milk, Shinji, in an attempt to get Mebuki off his back, answered, "Just going to buy some milk, Mom. We ran out." Wanting to ascertain the validity of Shinji's claim, Mebuki made her way to the fridge, opened it, and looked at Shinji with a defeated expression. "Alright, but be quick," she conceded.

Shinji, who was holding his breath hoping that the milk had actually run out, finally exhaled and swiftly turned on his heels, speed walking towards the door. However, before he could exit, Sakura said, "I'll go with him." Not giving Mebuki any time to respond, she quickly opened the door and dragged Shinji along.

"Gosh, these kids, why would they need two people to buy milk?" Mebuki sighed, while picking up their dishes and taking them to the sink. "Kids will be kids," Kizashi laughed.

Meanwhile, Shinji and Sakura were sprinting to the location, passing by the shop where they usually buy milk from. "Slow down! You're running too fast!" Sakura exclaimed while out of breath. Shinji looked back at Sakura who was trailing behind. "I'm already limiting my speed enough; you can keep up. Besides, we are already late," he countered.

After a few more minutes of sprinting, Shinji had finally arrived at the location of their bout. "We're finally here, Sis," he said, but no one responded. He turned back to find Sakura had fallen too far behind. "What took you so long?" Ino said, standing against a tree. "We were just about to leave; I thought you were scared," Sasuke taunted.

Shinji, needing to get home quickly, replied, "Let's just get this over with," to which Sasuke agreed. The whole class came to watch the battle between the two; the only person missing was Naruto. Shikamaru stepped forward and said, "On my mark, you can start. 1… 2… 3… Fight!"

As soon as the fight began, Shinji dashed towards Sasuke at a speed which shocked everyone, including Sasuke himself. Once Shinji got close, he kicked Sasuke's leg, causing him to lose balance. He then cocked back his arm in an attempt to punch the off-balance Sasuke, but in the nick of time, Sasuke was able to backflip, getting rid of the balance disadvantage.

While in the air, Sasuke threw Shurikens at Shinji, but Shinji was able to easily dodge them. However, Sasuke threw a few more shuriken, changing the trajectory of the ones Shinji had already dodged. Shinji was now in a situation where he wouldn't be able to move his body in time to evade the attack.

"Don't get hit!" a voice yelled from the back. There was no mistaking it; it was the voice of his sister. Not wanting to look lame, Shinji decided to take the battle more seriously. He weaved a couple of hand signs before the Shurikens hit him, and when they did, he burst into multiple petals that scattered across the field.

Shinji sat in a tree away from the battlefield, watching Sasuke's next move. Confused, Sasuke began looking around; his puzzlement was shared by the crowd. "Where did he go?" Choji asked. "He ran away," Sasuke sneered. Thinking Shinji had left, Sasuke stepped forward in order to leave.

"Hey, wait. There's something off about those petals. Why are they still here if he's gone?" Shikamaru said. Sasuke's expression changed as soon as he realized what was going on. "Checkmate," Shinji whispered.

The petals came to life and began to swarm Sasuke. Shinji jumped down from where he was and watched in amusement as Sasuke ran about trying to avoid the petals. He sustained a few cuts that slowed him down, but nothing that would end a fight just yet.

Something, however, caught Shinji's eye. As Sasuke was avoiding the petals, he seemed to be weaving his own hand signs. "Fire Style Fireball Jutsu!" Sasuke yelled, setting the petals alight. Shinji smirked. "Those are not real petals, Sasuke; they're wind blades. You know what happens when wind and fire merge, right?"

Just as Sasuke was on the verge of realization, a large explosion could be heard; the flames erupted and sent Sasuke flying back and onto the ground. "Sasuke!" Ino and Sakura simultaneously yelled. "Stay back! It's not over yet," Shinji told the girls.

He walked over to Sasuke, double-checking to see if he was conscious or not. Upon concluding Sasuke was out cold, Shinji put his kunai away. "Hey, Hinata, you have some ointment, don't you? Help him out," Shinji requested.

Kiba and Choji made their way towards Shinji. "I knew you'd win, but that fight was closer than I thought; it was quite flashy too," Kiba remarked. Choji held a chip in his hand and reached out to give it to Shinji. "Well done," Choji said; he was for once not stuffing his face.

Shinji accepted the chip and began laughing and making jokes with the two boys, whilst the girls were crowded around Sasuke who lay on the floor. "Shoot! I've got to get back home; Mom thinks I'm at the shops," Shinji said. He turned to Sakura who was helping apply the ointment. "Let's go; they'll take care of him," Shinji urged.

Sakura shook her head. "Mom already knows we aren't at the shop; we took too long." Shinji wanted to have hope, but she was right; he'd be nagged when he gets home regardless, so there was no reason to rush home. "Hmpf... Let me just get this nag session over with; I've done everything I needed to do here anyway," Shinji complained to Kiba and Choji.

He fist-bumped the two, then waved at the rest of the students and began walking home. On his way back, he saw a figure approaching from a distance; it was a man who wore a jonin's outfit. "Who is roaming around at this time of day?" Shinji pondered.

As the man got closer, he immediately knew who it was. It was Kakashi Hatake. Kakashi whistled as he got closer to Shinji. "You did pretty well against a genius," he commented. Shinji was thrown off by the appearance of Kakashi.

"Sure, I expected there to be some commotion, due to an explosion happening at night, but why would he personally seek me out?" Shinji pondered. "You're a quick one; you've already come to the conclusion that this isn't about the fight that just occurred," Kakashi laughed.

There was a silence; Shinji was trying to figure out what Kakashi could possibly need him for. "Did they figure me out? That I'm not from here?" Shinji thought to himself. He began to stress slightly, causing him to slowly reach for the Kunai that was by his waist.

Kakashi noticed this and quickly used shunshin, appearing behind Shinji and restraining his arm. "Relax. I've been sent by Lord Third. He has summoned you to the Hokage Residence," Kakashi said in a calm tone. Shinji became at ease after hearing what Kakashi had said; however, he wasn't willing to go, since his mother would be worried.

"Look, I need to get back home; my mom is waiting for me," Shinji told Kakashi, who had now stopped restraining him. "Tough. Hokage's orders," Kakashi responded in a nonchalant manner. Knowing he couldn't argue, Shinji gestured for Kakashi to lead the way and followed him.

"I really need to learn the Shadow Clone jutsu for issues like this. I have enough chakra to sustain one clone for a long time at the very least," Shinji mumbled to himself.
