A Seemingly Impossibe Task

Camp had been set up and we were eating a deer that Guremaru had hunted. We had been brainstorming ideas on how to approach the Bijuu, but we all came to the same conclusion.

"In the end... a frontal approach is going to be the only thing possible, right?"

"So it would seem. The lake is too deep to lure it out, so we'll have to go inside"

"*sigh* Ok then, let's get to it"

I didn't wait anymore for them to ponder over how to approach the situation. We were loosing our time here and we would get nowhere by talking about it. We couldn't make it come out of the lake, so we would have to look for it inside of it.

Leaving only my underwear on, I walked towards the shore of the lake. Yamato and Anko looked at me with a bit of surprise, probably unaware of how well I fared underwater. Still, I didn't want to lose more time.

"Guremaru, you stay here. I'll go check the lake to see what we can do"

Anko decided to stay outside, her not being confident in fighting underwater and all. Yamato, on the other hand, followed me readily.

It was the first time that I felt uncomfortable while in the water. Every other time I was... happy to be in it. But this time I couldn't feel the water as a part of me. All I felt was that something far stronger than us was keeping a tab on us through the water -mind yourselves, being watched and not knowing from where is unamusing.

The "lake" was, in and of itself, quite an interesting biome. It could easily be called a small sea, taking into consideration how it widened the further down you went. The aquatic life present in it was varied, with schools of fish swimming between kelp. There were even a few turtles and river dolphins.

Looking at Yamato, I singaled him to travel in a direction while I went the other way around. He signaled me to meet at the surface in half an hour. I decided to try and reach the edge of the lake, but it just grew wider and deeper. A few undercurrents were beginning to appear, but it wasn't that much of an annoyance. Just like that, I reached what looked like the entrance to a cave.

'This might be it'

I got closer to it, but I didn't reach ten meters from it when I felt the strongest current of water coming from it. I decided to inspect the entrance to the cave and see what that current was and, to my surprise, it was something akin to a wall. The current was so strong that there was no way of getting through it. It was definitely stronger than the strongest undercurrent in the depths of the ocean. I was sure the Bijuu was there, and I was finally sure that it was who I thought all along.

'I have nothing else to do here right now. Might as well go up'

Once I reached the surface, I went towards the camp. I found Anko there standing guard while playing with Guremaru, who seemed to have already hunted the nights food, judging from the rabbits lying beside the campfire. A few minutes later, Yamato came out too.

"Did you find anything, Ryota?"

"I think I did and I might know which Bijuu we are dealing with"

After that I explained what I had found and my "guess" -which was a certainty- about this Bijuu being the Sanbi, the only one that could control water. Yamato agreed with my assumption and Anko seemed bummed becaue of her not being able to do much since the problem was underwater. The problem came when we thought of how to breach the undercurrent wall.

"Perhaps using a current of equal or higher strength might disrupt it? Or something sturdy and big enough to stop the flow alltogether?"

"At this point anything works. We have no ideas so we can try"

Since my ideas seemed to be logically sound in their ears, we decided to try them at first hour the following day.

Back underwater, Yamato was following me towards the cave. All I did to recognize the path was follow the flow of the undercurrents the same way I had before and, thanks to that, it didn't take us too long to reach the entrance.

The first one to try was Yamato, who decided to create a tree in the center of it. Seeing a tree grow underwater at such a high speed was something that generated awe in me, since it was a feet almost equal to creating life our of nothing. Unfortunately, it didn't matter how big the tree got, the current adapted to it or became sharp and cut through it. Isobu really didn't want us to get inside.

'Guess it's my turn now'

I focused on my chakra to create as much rotation as I could while performing the handseals for the Jutsu I wanted to use. If this didn't work I had only one other idea in mind, but I preferred avoiding it if possible. As such, I went with my safest plan.

'Suiton: Great Waterfall!'

Feeding Chakra into the Jutsu, I made the water rotate, creating a vortex underwater that tried to swallow the current. Alas, it was useless. When it got too close to the current and began swallowing water effectively, the water it had swallowed simply exploded, erasing the vortex of existance. That left me with only one more option.

'True Beast: Okami'

When I began transforming, Yamato felt surprised, I could tell because I felt it. It wasn't everyday that you saw a person transforming the way I did. It was usual for them to take on the form of other people, yes. But becoming an anthropomorphic beast? That wasn't your typical everyday thing. And what came afterwards might've shocked him even more. I couldn't really tell.

'Water Beast: Nagareru Tsume!'

This time I became the vortex, putting as much speed to the rotation as I possibly could, adding more inertia to it by making the water rotate with my Chakra. The swords surrounding me were the key for this to work. My idea was, quite literally, to keep mysef spinning for as long as possible in hopes that the swords could cut the current. How stupid was I.

*grunt*

The current became so violent and sharp that, for a second, I thought I was dead. Hadn't it been for my own Jutsu and Yamato taking me out with his Mokuton in time, I might've actually. The conclusion was quite simple. Isobu didn't want us in, so we had to look for other means. And I had a good idea. One that would take a long time, but would surely work.
