Rai had spent the last six months engrossed in rigorous training. At the training grounds, a young figure with jet-black hair adorned with blue tips and piercing black eyes displayed the wisdom and maturity beyond his years. Rai had discovered a hidden training ground concealed behind the Aburame clan compound. Not the main compound, but a forgotten one tucked away in the farthest reaches. Hiruzen commenced a speech about the "Will of Fire" and similar ideals. Rai's indifference to the matter was evident – he saw it as an attempt to ingrain loyalty to the village.
With the speech concluded, Hiruzen made his exit. Swiftly, the academy tryouts began. A battery of exercises ensued – a 50-meter sprint and various drills. While Rai faltered in the written exams, he managed to scrape through.
Hundreds were eliminated, leaving only 75 who were accepted this year. The number of clan children outnumbered the civilians, but Rai was among the chosen few from his background. The academy's doors would open on the morrow, marking the beginning of a new journey he eagerly anticipated.
