Naruto Online: The Strongest Shinobi

Michael, living in a dystopian world devastated by nuclear warfare, discovers a new VRMMORPG game called 'Elemental Nations.' Excited by the opportunity to escape his harsh reality, he purchases the Tier 1 headset and prepares to embark on an adventure. In his cramped living space, surrounded by the remnants of his previous life, Michael contemplates the hardships he and his family endure. The scarcity of resources and the confined conditions serve as constant reminders of the post-apocalyptic world they inhabit. As Michael watches the game's trailer, he recognizes familiar elements from the anime series Naruto. His passion for the show in his previous world fuels his excitement to explore this virtual rendition of the Naruto universe. However, in this new world, anime is not as popular, with people favoring slice-of-life stories over war-torn narratives. Equipped with the VR gear, Michael eagerly enters the game, expecting to unleash his knowledge of the Naruto world to become a powerful shinobi. The game's mechanics limit the number of players who can join as shinobi from the five great villages, adding a sense of exclusivity and competition to the experience. With the promise of potentially earning money through the game, Michael sees an opportunity to contribute to his family's welfare. Unemployment and limited opportunities in the real world have left him longing for a chance to make a difference. As the game servers go online, Michael finds himself transported to a new location, ready to embark on an extraordinary journey within the virtual world of Elemental Nations. Little does he know that this adventure will hold secrets, challenges, and the potential for him to become the hero he aspires to be.

Chapter 43: Not NPCs

Chapter 43: Not NPCs

As I walked away to a side without any of the…residents of this world, Ayumi followed me.

I still didn't understand how a lot of these things worked. Why didn't the people of this world understand anything when we mention things exclusive to only our? What is the purpose of this game? Does Ranger Tech know what they are doing, or was this coincidental?

And about a thousand more questions.

Well, that is not really the point right now.

For now, I need to build my own team, since if the real world was going to get powers…I need to be able to figure out ways to get allies.

"Ayumi, are you going to take this game seriously?" I asked her honestly.

"Well…if you asked me this yesterday I would have told you I am playing this solely because I barely have food to survive in the real world, and came here as escapism." She told me.

"Well I am not asking you yesterday, I am asking you right now."

"Then my answer is pretty clear, I aim to take it seriously, especially because of the amount of money I earned just from selling 10 EXP, I can eat food for a week." She told me.

When she said that, I remembered that the system had indeed made a whole new system to sell the EXP we had already earned to get some money.

[-Trading EXP-

Right now the exchange rates are as follows:

(Selling to the system)

1 EXP = 10 Credits

(Buying from the system)

15 Credits = 1 EXP

The game will track and change this value as time goes along.

Players can also trade for their own prices regarding EXP and use the system as a medium for the trade. The system will track and change its own prices according to the players prices]

Looking at that, I realized a mini economy was probably going to be built around this, with some players getting stronger by trading their way through.

"Then maybe it is time you start taking this seriously and begin training in using some elemental Jutsu or maybe a unique style of fighting."

"And what would you recommend?"

I paused for a second as I thought about it.

As far as I knew, for a leaf village shinobi who did not have connections through the great clans, there were only 2 strong kunoichis.

Kurenai or Tsunade.

And with the whole Aspects part of this game, if Yuki developed into the path of Genjutsu, and awakened an Aspect regarding Genjutsu as well, he might truly become someone overpowered.

Especially since he has his Sharingan which easily allows him to cast Genjutsu.

And if Ayumi was able to get the crazy strength of Tsunade and her healing abilities it  would be helpful.

Especially since she might be getting her Aspect power in real life...it would help to have a teammate that could heal us if push comes to shove.

"I would say for now, learn Medical Ninjutsu and advanced Chakra control. Ask Naido-sensei for help as well, he will guide you."

"Alright…but can I know why Medical Ninjutsu?" She asked me with a slightly curious voice.

"Well, eventually our 3 man cell is going to be sent on specific missions when the war is over. For that we need a healer just in case one of us is hurt."

Ayumi nodded at my explanation and then I went back into the forest to try some of my new abilities.

Since dawn was approaching soon, I realized now would probably be the best time to try my abilities.

(Authors note: I know I called it Shadow Chakra, but I will address it as Chakra 99% of the time since I feel like it is not needed to keep reiterating that it is shadow chakra)

As soon as I touched one of the Shadows, I felt my whole vision change, as I reappeared 100 meters away with barely any Chakra usage.

The further I traveled the more Chakra I used, but within 100m the amount I used instantly regenerated.

My regeneration also got buffed due to the Shadow Serpent since it was one of its innate abilities.

And I could morph the shadows slightly into different items, however I was horrible at proficiently using them.

I could barely form a baseball bat, let alone an intricate sword or kunai for attacking other people properly with.

However with time, I knew this ability would be a truly overpowered one, like forming extra hands for myself and then attacking other people.

I then looked down at the gloomy shadow, who just seemed like he wanted to sit there and do absolutely nothing.

Me too buddy.

As if sensing my thoughts, he looked at me and when we made eye contact forming a tact understanding.

I don't know why Sunny hated this guy so much, he is just a depressed loner like 99% of people.

I then commanded him to wrap himself around me and I felt my strength double.

Following this, I activated the 8 gates and felt myself gain an insane level of strength when compared to normal.

Following that, I tried my normal Jutsu to see how my new Shadow Chakra affected my elemental Jutsu.

[Lightning style-False darkness Jutsu]

As I used the Jutsu, the lightning spear that normally formed inside of my mouth felt different…I felt as if I had more control over the Jutsu.

And as I fired the Jutus, I realized instead of being light blue lightning, it was dark gray in color, and the damage the Jutsu had done  also increased.

My new chakra also increased normal Jutsus attacks.

And if I used my shadow to amplify my attacks they got even stronger.

I then commanded the serpent to form into its weapon form which was its normal Odachi form.

I guess I had something new I had to get used to, especially since the game didn't allow me to master this with EXP.

"Maybe…" I couldn't help but think how Shadow Dance essentially allowed its user to copy someone else's combat style.

I just needed to find a proper sword user and copy their combat style.

Well, that was for later.

I could also use my shadow to keep guard while I was sleeping or meditating, so I sent the gloomy shadow to keep track of any immediate movement and went into a meditative state.

I began to sense how the Shadow Chakra inside of my body was operating, how it flowed differently or similar compared to normal chakra.

I don't know when or how, but at some point I had ended up inside of an endless expanse of a sea.

Everywhere I looked in all directions was an endless sea.

This place is my soul sea, where from now whenever I kill someone, a piece of their soul will eternally rest inside of mine…well, I didn't know how it worked for players since they didn't actually die.

From what I had seen until now, the only point of the souls of my dead enemies is to protect my own soul from any soul based attacks.

"I then looked up inside of the endless expanse of sea to see a massive core which resemble a sun with dark flames in the center of the whole domain.

That was my Shadow Chakra core, Gloomy source of power and where I kept my first 'Shadow,' the Shadow Serpent.

I saw an image of the Soul Serpent inside, as it swirled across the whole Shadow Chakra core and just rested inside of the core peacefully.

After confirming that I really did have a soul sea, I left it to return to the Naruto world and tried to use my Shadow Paralysis Jutsu.

Just like I had expected, Gloomy stretched out, but the range of him moving away from me increased by a lot.

Typically it only worked for 25m, but with Gloomy, I could easily capture everything within 100m from me.

That basically meant in close combat, unless they avoided touching the ground at all times, my enemy would eventually lose.
