58 Naruto chapter 58:

-Akatsuki theme song playing in the background-

"You're saying he knew your plan all along?" Zetsu said, looking at Obito.

"I'm not sure... Be he knows who I am." Obito replied as he sat atop the tallest tower in the hidden rain.

"What are we going to do about him?" Zetsu asked.

"For now, nothing. Our goal to collect the tails beasts isn't ready yet. Besides, I'm not sure if I could beat him at the moment." Obito said as he placed a hand onto his mask.

Zetsu gave him a strange look, realizing how strong he must be if Obito was saying that.

"We will follow along according to plan, once we are ready, he will be captured like the others," Obito said before he turned to look at Zetsu.

"Besides, there are others who are within our control." He said as his Sharingan glowed sinisterly amidst the lightning that crackled from the sky.

"Wwaaaaa!" A baby cried out as it wriggled its small arms and legs.

"Wwaaaaa!" Another cried out, copying the other, crying just as loud.

"Aw look Fuyōna, they want their father." Suiren and Mei said as they each handed him their baby.

Fuyōna smiled awkwardly as he took both babies, one in each arm and held them, rocking them ever so gently.

Two years had passed since Fuyōna's encounter with Zabuza. Both Suiren and Mei had given birth to a healthy baby, Mei having a boy and Suiren having a girl.

Mei's son was a broad baby with black hair that had small hits of red in it. His eyes were ice blue like Fuyōna's and he always smiled once he picked him up.

Suiren's daughter was a beautiful girl, having blond hair just like her mother, but blue eyes like her father. She also bore the Kaguya markings on her forehead and around her eyes, giving Fuyōna suspicion she could possess the Shikotsumyaku ability.

Fuyōna had thought long and hard about names for the two of them before finally coming to a decision, having a strange feeling that their names would suit them once they grew up.

He had named his son, Shōto Yuki. After the fire like hair he possessed and his ice-blue eyes.

His daughter on the other hand had been named Asami Yuki, meaning beautiful morning snow, as she was born on a winters morning.

Both of them were the same age and only born a month apart with Shōto being the older of the two.

Fuyōna, Mei and Suiren all lived in their large house with both of the babies. Of course, Haku and Kimimaro still stayed with them, also being part of their family.

The two boys had both turned ten years old now and had completed many missions as Genin level ninja.

Kaga had recommended them for the chunin exams many times already, with Fuyōna finally agreeing to it now they had gotten a little older.

Over the last two years, the village had flourished, becoming almost unrecognisable to what it had been before. Trade had become a huge part of the economy of the village, allowing them to trade their goods all over the world.

Thanks to Fuyōna putting in place everything he did when he took office, the village was thriving. However, in doing so it had gained the attention of the other villages, who were not so happy with their progression.

The hidden sand and cloud imparticular had posed a problem for Fuyōna. The sand he could understand, as their undying hate towards him for killing the fourth Kazekage would never be forgotten. Though over the last two years their actions had started to raise a cause for concern.

The cloud had also started to become hostile towards them. Ever since they had failed in the capture of princess Hinata of the Hyuga clan, they had become increasingly difficult to deal with, refusing trade and even attacking trade lines and alleys to the mist.

And although Fuyōna had done his best to prevent an all-out conflict between the two, he couldn't help but feel like that was what the Raikage wanted.

Fuyōna had, however, strengthened his bond with the hidden leaf, and the Third Hokage had even sent an offer to host a joint chunin exam, inviting Fuyōna to attend the finals as an act of good faith between their villages.

Aō had been against it, saying it was most likely a trap. After all, he was wanted by the leaf for his eye that had been taken during the third great war.

Fuyōna thought it would not be a good idea to take Aō anywhere near the village, due to Danzo, but he couldn't help not wanting to pass up the opportunity to attend, after all, he did want to meet the third Hokage.

It was also a perfect time to have Haku and Kimimaro enter the exams. That way they would get to test their abilities against strong ninja from all over the world. After all, the leaf would also send invitations to other villages, and the smaller villages would willingly send their young shinobi to help test them.

Fuyōna had done his best to try and keep tabs on Obito and the Akatsuki. However, not much information could be found on them, other than being used as high-level mercenaries.

He knew they operated from the hidden Rain, yet the only information that came said that Hanzō of the salamander was still in charge.

The chunin exam date was six months away now and Haku, Koyuki and Kimimaro were getting excited. Of course, they would not be the only squad he would send to the leaf, but he was excited to see how far they would go in the exam, being sure they would do him proud.

Fuyōna had, however, started to notice that Kimimaro had been starting to lag behind in his training a little, and had developed a small cough. Kimimaro did his best to try not to let it bother him, but Fuyōna knew better.

He remembered that Kimimaro had become terminally ill in the manga and had even died from the unknown illness.

With that knowledge, Fuyōna had decided to have the chief medical ninja look at the boy to see if anything could be done.

However, the doctor was shocked and admitted he had not seen anything like this before, saying it could be something to do with his abilities and unique physiology that was different to normal people.

Of course, Fuyōna had questioned it and even had the doctor examine him too, hoping that because they shared the same ability he would discover a cure. But the doctor had no luck, saying he didn't think there would be anyone in the world who would be able to do anything about it.

Fuyōna asked him how long he had and the doctor gave him a grim look.

"With the rate his illness is spreading throughout his body, I would say he has two years at most before he will lose the ability to move. After that, death will follow."

Fuyōna slowed zoned back into reality as he stared at his reflection in his office window, remembering the words of the doctor.

That had been four months ago, and only two months now remained until the chunin exam. Kimimaro had become increasingly worse and had even started coughing up blood if he pushed his body too hard, causing Fuyōna to stop his training altogether.

Everyone was worried about him, yet the boy always had a smile on his face, accepting his fate and always saying that he was simply happy that he could be with Fuyōna and his family.

A few more days had passed and Fuyōna had found the time to be sat at home, relaxing with Mei and Suiren as they watched Kimimaro play with the babies. He was such a gentle child and had so much potential. The very thought that he would die from this illness made Fuyōna's blood boil.

Suddenly a knock came at the door and Mei got up to go amd answer it.

"Who could that be at this time?" She said as she answered the door.

Kōgetsu Hozuki bowed his head to Mei before he greeted her.

"I'm sorry to bother you lady Mei, but I need to speak to Lord Mizukage.

Kōgetsu was Mangetsu's cousin and next in line to the Hozuki clan head, having served as one of Fuyōna's personal Anbu for two years now, showing great skill.

"What's the matter Kōgetsu?" Fuyōna asked, sensing his urgency.

"Forgive my intrusion my lord, but we have located the three tails." He said bowing as he saw Fuyōna.

"You found it?" He said surprised.

Ever since he had killed the fourth Mizukage, the three-tailed beasts had not been seen.

"So it has finally resurrected," Fuyōna said to himself as he crossed his arms.

"Where was it last seen?" He then asked.

"It was spotted off the border to the land of lighting my lord." He said replying.

"Dispatch a squad to contain it at once, I will go myself." He announced.

"No! I don't think so!" Mei suddenly said as she poked him in the chest.

"That's right Fuyōna! It's daddy-daughter day at work tomorrow and you promised to take Asami with you." Suiren also said.

Kōgetsu seemed a little surprised but doesn't dare say anything in case they turned on him too.

"I will lead this mission dear, you spend time with your daughter." Mei suddenly said as she stroked his chin.

Fuyōna didn't like the idea but knew he had no choice. After all, what the wives said usually went.

"Alright, Mei, I'm counting on you to retrieve the three tails." He said.

Mei smiled.

"Don't you worry about me?" She said as she gave him a playful wink.

Fuyōna couldn't help but smile before Suiren also came over and linked her arm through Fuyōna's.

"Are you sure Mei?" She asked sounding worried.

"Yes, Besides it will be good to get back into the field." She then said smiling.

"Alright. But I want you to take Aō, Kōgetsu here and Ganryū." Fuyōna said.

"Understood," Mei said.

"Say goodbye to mummy," Suiren said as she picked Shōto up off the floor, handing him to Mei.

"You be a good boy for your daddy and Suiren." She said as she squeezed his cheeks before blowing kisses on his tummy and handing him back to Fuyōna.

"Be safe Mei," Fuyōna said as he looked into her eyes.

"I will be." She said before she leaned in and kissed him on the lips.

Suiren also nodded and wished Mei good luck. After all, the three of them had developed into a three-way relationship and all been married. Each of them caring about one another, something Fuyōna had never thought possible.

"Let's go." Mei then said as she got serious.

Kōgetsu nodded and followed her as they took their leave.

"I hope everything goes alright," Suiren said as she watched them go.

"Me too... I have a bad feeling about this." Fuyōna said as he held Shōto in his arms.

Kimimaro was sat on the floor still playing with Asami, but he could tell that Fuyōna was worried and he looked at Haku.

Haku could also feel the tension from where he was sat, and both of them looked at each other giving a nod.

"Don't even think about it you two." Fuyōna suddenly said as he turned to them.

Both of the boys froze on the spot before slowly turning around to look at him.

"This isn't something you can handle. Hku are to stay here in the village until I say so, you got that?" He said giving them a stern look.

Kimimaro and Haku nodded sheepishly.

"Yes sir."

"Good." He said before he put Shōto on the floor, who crawled over to Kimimaro and punched him in the face with his chubby hands.

"That's my boy." He said before all of them laughed together.

However, the laugh was soon brought to a halt as Kimimaro started to cough. He used his hand to cover his mouth and then looked to see it had more blood on it.

Suiren had a worried look and rushed over to him to hug him tightly.

"It's ok Kimimaro." She said trying to comfort him.

Fuyōna grits his teeth before he took knelt down to the boy looking him in his eyes.

"I promise I won't let you die Kimimaro." He said before placing his hand on the boys head.

Kimimaro simply smiled as he always did.

"It's ok. I accept my fate." Kimimaro said without a hint of sadness.

"Don't say that," Suiren said as she looked at him with tears almost coming to her eyes.

Haku was also sad as he looked down at the floor, feeling angry about the whole thing. After all, Kimimaro was like his brother and he too felt powerless that he couldn't help him.

"There is still one thing I need to try," Fuyōna said quietly before he stood up, getting the others attention.

"Something I didn't think would be possible until now." He then said.

Suiren gave him a puzzled look before she too stood up.

"What are you talking about Fuyōna?" She asked.

"Give me a little time Suiren. I need to make sure it will work first." He then said.

Suiren nodded as she watched Fuyōna take Kimimaro by the shoulder.

"I hope the cold doesn't bother you too much Kimimaro." He then said as he smiled at him.

Kimimaro gave him a questioning look.

"Alright, we will be back soon," Fuyōna said as he raised his hand to create an ice mirror.

"Where are you going?" Suiren asked not sure what was going on.

"Don't worry, I just need to have one last person look at him... Well, I say person, but I mean Yeti." He then said with a smile.

With that Fuyōna took Kimimaro and stepped into the mirror before it melted to the floor leaving a small puddle of water that both Shōto and Asami started to splash in.

"Oh no! I just bathed both of you!" She shouted as she ran over to them to get them out of the water.

Haku smiled as he watched them go and then looked at the babies.

"I hope he can save him." He muttered under his breath softly as he looked where the ice mirror had been.
