Chapter 56:

Kaga and the two Anbu trackers jumped into battle with Zabuza, who with both blades in his hands clashed against them in a furious whirlwind of steel.

"You're a traitor to the village, demon!" One of the Anbu shouted as he attacked in a wild flurry of clean strikes.

Zabuza blocked his attacks one after the other while also blocking Kaga's and the other Anubu's. Holding all of them back as he dashed backwards using his footwork to evade them.

"You'll have to do better than that!" Zabuza shouted as he decided it was time to go on the counterattack.

He quickly moved forwards slamming a front kick into one of the Anbu's stomachs, sending him flying back.

He then spun around and dropped to his knee as he slashed low with one blade and high with the other attacking both Kaga and the other Anbu at the same time.

Kaga was able to block the attack. However, the Anbu was not as Zabuza's blade cut through his leg like a hot knife through butter.

"Arrghhh!" The Anbu howled as he dropped to the ground in pain.

Zabuza smiled as he quickly twirled around again, this time ready to finish him.

Kaga could see what he was trying to do and raised his large blade into the air before dropping it down next to the Anbu member, using all of its weight to slam into the ground.

His blade stopped Zabuza's attack and uprooted the ground from the force, knocking Zabuza back.

The other Anbu had gotten back to his feet and ran over to his teammate to check his wound.

"It's bad, he nipped the artery." He said as he applied pressed.

"He's done for," Zabuza said as he stuck both swords into the ground.

"And so are you! Hidden mist jutsu!" He suddenly shouted as he made the hand signs.

Kaga clenched his teeth as the mist suddenly burst forth from Zabuza's body and surrounded them.

"Be on guard!" He shouted.

Kaga knew all too well that Zabuza was an expert in silent killing using the hidden mist jutsu. In fact, he was one of the best in the whole village at it, being praised and earning himself a serious reputation.

"This isn't good," Kaga said as he stepped back to back with the Anbu member.

"Where is he?" The Anbu said quietly.

Kaga tried to focus. But he couldn't see anything, Dont make a sound." He then said trying to get the Anbu to be quiet.

But it was too late. Zabuza had already located them and suddenly appeared out of the mist right next to them.

"You're both dead!" He shouted as he slashed down with his swords.

Meanwhile, Kimimaro and the others had come face to face with the demon brothers, Gōzu and Meizu.

"Look at these brats, barely old enough to have graduated the academy," Meizu said with a snarl.

"I bet you didn't even have to kill anyone to graduate." He then said laughing.

"Enough talking Meizu, let's kill them and be done with it," Gōzu said as he prepared his clawed gauntlet.

Kimimaro took a defensive stance as he looked over at the demon brothers. He could see that Gōzu seemed more assertive and stronger, meaning that Meizu would be more arrogant and reckless, being more prone to making mistakes.

"Alright, I'll take the one with the black cloak. You two team up on the other one. If we can keep them apart and stop them from working together we might stand a good chance." Kimimaro said to the others.

Haku had already made the same assessment and agreed.

"Be careful you don't get hit by a poison attack." He then said.

Koyuki also nodded.

"Be careful, these guys look strong.

Kimimaro nodded before he bolted towards Gōzu, heading in for the attack.

"Well get a load of this runt," Meizu said laughing as he watched Kimimaro charge towards them.

"He's mine!" Meizu shouted as he lowered into an attacking stance.

However, a barrage of shuriken and senbon needles flew over Kimimaro's head right towards Meizu, causing him to jump into the air as he blocked a few more with his gauntlet.

"What the!" He shouted as he looked over at Koyuki.

"Where did the other one go?"

Haku suddenly appeared behind him and attacked, slashing down with one of his senbon.

Meizu turned midair and blocked his attack.

"I don't think so, kid!" He shouted before he grabbed his arm and used his gauntlet to slash into his chest.

Kimimaro crossed both hands over his face before jumping into the air and shooting a barrage of bone bullets at Gōzu.

Gōzu could tell that the projectiles were dangerous and decided to evade them rather than block them.

Kimimaro let his bones grow all around his body as he got closer, running at a low angle before he curved around and attacked.

Gōzu blocked Kimimaros attack one after the other, finding that he was being pushed back by the boy's impressive taijutsu.

"What is this kid?" He thought as Kimimaro slashed and spun in an almost unblockable manner.

"Don't tell me he's one of those Kaguya freaks!"

Gōzu couldn't defend against it and was forced to jump into the air, flipping backwards to gain some well-needed distance after he had suffered a cut on his cheek.

"This kid is a monster." He said as he watched Kimimaro stand to his full height as he pulled a bone blade from his shoulder.

Meizu slashed into Haku's body with the razor-sharp fingers of his steel gauntlet. However, Haku's body turned into ice at the last second.

"A clone!" Meizu said as he landed on the ground, quickly raising his gauntlet to block a few senbon that was aimed for his eyes.

"You'll have to do better than that kid!" He said laughing.

Suddenly Koyuki appeared from behind him as she skidded along the floor.

"How about this! Fire style, fireball jutsu!" She shouted as she blasted the jutsu at him.

Meizu was about to move out of the way but found that his feet couldn't move.

"What the!" He said as he looked down to see they had been frozen to the ground.

"Ice!" He shouted before crossing his arms over his face to block the fire style.

Koyuki watched as her fire style engulfed Meizu, seeming happy with her teamwork with Haku.

But suddenly Meizu flew out of the flames heading right towards Koyuki with his gauntlet extended.

"Did you think you had me!" He shouted about to grab her with his steel claws.

Haku suddenly appeared next to her and pushed off the ground with his hands, using his legs to kick upward knocking Meizu's arm into the air.

Meizu was shocked that Haku was fast enough to counter his attack, as the weight of the gauntlet on his arm pulled him off balance.

"Now!" Haku shouted to Koyuki, who quickly tossed a handful of shuriken from her weapons pouch at him.

Meizu tried to use his free hand to block them, but some still got through and stuck into his body causing some damage.

"Why you!" He roared in anger as he reached into his own weapons pouch.

"Looks like you leave me no choice!" He said before he threw a handful of poison gas pellets onto the ground.

Kimimaro was still fighting with Gōzu, who was using the chain from his gauntlet to keep him at bay, knowing he was a close-quarters fighter as he tried to get a little distance from him.

Kimimaro wasn't phased as the chain hit him, he had that many bones protruding out of his body that the chain hardly touches him.

Kimimaro quickly grabbed it and slammed a bone blade into one of the links, wedging it to the ground, trapping Gōzu with it.

"What the!" He said as he Kimimaro quickly rushed at him, ready to deliver a killing blow.

Gōzu was forced to release the chain from his gauntlet and quickly spun around, using the full weight of his gauntlet to slam into Kimimaro's body and send him flying back.

Kimimaro had been able to block the attack with his bones, making sure to avoid the poisonous fingertips of his weapon.

However, it had meant he was unable to land a killing blow.

"Guess I have no choice, I didn't think we would have to use this on a bunch of kids." He then said, looking over to Gōzu who he could see was thinking the same thing.

Your luck has run out kid!" He said as he reached into his weapons pouch and threw poison smoke bombs all over the place, letting them fill the air with a toxic odour.

Kimimaro could see the thick purple smoke start to fill the air, and he retreated back, joining the others who had done the same.

"It's poison!" Haku said, seeing it spread into the air.

"What if we use a wind style?" Koyuki then said, having a great idea.

"That won't work!" Gōzu and Meizu both said at the same time as they raised their hands to form the signs.

"Secret technique, poison mist jutsu!" They both said, using their chakra to mould the poison gas in the air into a fog that started to spread closer and closer toward them.

"Wind style, vacuum wave!" Haku said as he quickly made the hand signs, unleashing a massive burst of wind from his mouth in an attempt to blow the poison fog away.

However, it had no effect as the fog came right back, unaffected by his jutsu.

"It didn't work!" He said as the three of them slowly backed into a corner as the fog grew closer and closer.

Gōzu and Meizu's voices echoed through the fog as it slowly crept closer to them as if death itself was creeping approaching them.

"There is nowhere to run now, children!"
