31 Chapter 31: A New Light

The sun was bright, it's bright light bathing the whole world with warmest and the promise of a new day. As everyone woke from their slumber, getting ready to greet a new chapter of their life, a small city sized village also slowly woke up. Hidden among the ever-green leaves that had given it its name, the village slowly started to bustle with activity as people left their homes to make their livelihoods.

Nestled within the confines of this city was a street that always smelled of fresh toasted dough and the sweet taste of rice cakes. In this street, the passersby walked through, going about their way but every once so often someone would halt their steps while walking, looking at a house with a regretful sigh before continuing to walk.

"Take care now." an old man waved at a furry black cat as it carried a fresh piece of bread, tied to her back with cloth and small rope. The cat "Meow OwO" at the old man before running away, jumping on walls until it entered a house through the open window, closing it afterwards.

The cat went through the bedroom as she went down the stairs and came upon a boy as he scribbled over the roof while muttering. "Meow OwO" the cat announced her arrival, waking the boy from his stupor as he looked up to look down at the cat, "Oh, just a minute, I'm almost done." The cat used her mouth to bring two plates from the kitchen and put them on the table in the lounge and used her claws to swipe the rope.

The bread fell neatly onto the plate as she looked up at the boy in protest, "Meow! >w<" The boy sighed as he dropped down, "yes, yes, I'm done." took the bread, breaking it into two cat and ate bread in silence.< p>

While he was doing that, he figured out that Assal could do the same work as a computer in a lab so he sent a lot of energy to run various simulations to make sure he would be able to survive the procedure, adapt to his new eyes and use the genetic samples he had spent so long collecting finally came into use; Assal could cause suitable genetic mutations so even if he was not an Uchiha, he would still be able to acquire theUchiha bloodline and since he already had Yukia's and her father's blood samples, he could theoretically reduce the adverse effects of the sharingan.

'Whatever you say Frankenstein.' Shin rolled his eyes as the thought of becoming a monster with various mixtures of blood and body parts from different people. He Used nearly all his remaining chakra to create a shadow clone and lay down, slowly closing his eyes.

The shadow clone got ready to operate as he held up a cylinder that contained a pair of eyes and his movements faltered for just a second before he spoke up, "Assal, rest is on you." After that, his eyes became emotionless and he faded to black.

As he was floating in a dreamless void, he felt a pair of warm hands gently caressing his cheek before they lightly touched his eyes. Shin groggily woke up, he tried to open his eyes but failed, he could feel the feel them bound with bandages so he slowly sat up, moving his hands to remove the bandages and then he slowly opened his eyes, he looked around and saw a ball of furry blackness roll up beside him on the bed. He smiled and petted it gently before taking out all the needles from his arms and slowly got up from the bed.

Shin felt weak, it was as if he hadn't eaten in days.

'Oh… right… How did it go?' he spoke while stumbling in the dark as he walked towards the mirror in his bedroom, what stared back was a boy with jet black eyes. Shin touched the area around his eyes, looking for any issues as Assal relied.

"Yukia…" Shin looked at her eyes, he recognised them well. "So she made sure I would be able to use her eyes huh…" Shin smiled, "You really wanted me to become a red panda that much?" his face twisted but his eyes remained dry, not a single tear dared to form in her eyes.

Shin closed his eyes, calming himself down before opening them again, a new found conviction in his eyes as he looked at himself in the mirror. Shin channeled chakra into his eyes and saw them turn red as three tomoe appeared inside them. Shin widened his new eyes and looked around in astonishment, the room seemed to brighten up as if he could see every detail of the room as if it were day. He could even see the layer of dust that had appeared on the furniture.

Shin looked at the window, the moonlight filtering inside the room made it seem as if it was day time but he could tell it was not, there was an indescribable difference. 'I wonder…' He moved to open the window and looked up. Shin chuckled as he saw the sky, "It really is like the colors of the rainbow scattered around…"

He looked around the street, able to read the sign boards on the other end of the street clearly. Curious, he channeled more chakra into his eyes and was left astonished when he realized he could even pick out the individual pieces of wood that made that sign, not only that, he could see the dust in the air as it fell onto the signboard.

Shin closed the window and walked back to the mirror, curious to see what his eyes looked like in this state. His right eye had 4 spiraling curves similar to Itachi but what surprised him the most was that his left eye looked exactly like Itachi's. 'Assal, what is going on? The left eye feels like mine but also different…'

Shin watched as his left eye returned to its 4 spiral curves state. Shin then asked Assal about his right eye's function and received an answer.

[Right eye is able to influence the flow of chakra in a singular target, reversing it completely so long as the target remains in your line of sight.]

'Reversing the flow of chakra, won't it make it nearly impossible for them to use any jutsu then?'

Shin smiled, he was more than happy with his new eyes but his happiness was short lived as he suddenly felt fatigued. His dullness was due to more than just his physical state but also mental. Shin had been distracting himself using every excuse he could find, but the truth was that he was barely able to keep himself from spilling.

Shin just dragged himself back to bed and snuggled with Pineapple as she started to pur. When Shin woke up the next morning, he smelled the mouthwatering aroma of fresh bread and the sweet scent of rice cakes as he felt wetness on his face.

Shin woke up to see Pineapple licking his face before moving on to his head and then his hands. "What are you doing?" he asked with an amused tone. Pineapple however froze with her tongue still out as she turned to look at Shin before jumping at his face with a "Meow! T~T"

It took a while for Shin to peel the clingy Pineapple off him and send him for food, Pineapple ran out and bought some cream puffs before running back, dropping the box on the floor before running through the house and finding Shin brushing his teeth. Pineapple proceeded to attach herself to Shin without letting go.

The duo ate breakfast and then just lay down on the floor, looking up at the ceiling of the lounge until something broke their peaceful moment.

*Ding Dong*

Both of them looked towards the door as Pineapple spoke, "Meow ?_?" Shin got up, wondering who it could be.

*Ding Dong*

Shin sighed in annoyance, "Why are you always in such a rush?" he spoke as he opened the door, outside he saw a spiky black haired girl with a bright smile as she raised her hand holding a shopping bag and spoke with a smile, "I Brought cake!" Shin looked at her with wide eyes…
