Chapter-77

"Hey, can you stop the train?" Naruto asked urgently, receiving a regrettable negative response.

"No-o! I destroyed the control panel, and we're going at maximum speed without brakes!... Zanzo station is 15 kilometers away... if we pass that station, we will crash into more than five blocks of houses... we're doomed!" The train driver's voice trembled in despair, his face buried in helplessness.

"What are you doing?" the passenger who continued to apply pressure to the injured man's shoulder asked, along with the rest of the passengers who looked at Naruto with hope.

Naruto, without responding, exited through the train window. The train was hurtling at over 240 km/h, leaving him with limited time to avert the impending catastrophe. He muttered to himself in bewilderment, "Well... this is something new." He knew he had to make a critical decision. Derailing the train was the most logical choice to minimize casualties.

Looking down, he observed the terror among the passengers – students, children, women, men, and the elderly, all gripped by fear.

"Mama... I'm scared!" A six-year-old boy clung to his mother, seeking solace amid the atmosphere of panic.

"To hell," Naruto muttered, a bead of sweat trickling down his forehead. He triggered a smoke explosion in his right hand, forming a massive four-bladed shuriken. He hurled it forcefully, slicing through electrical cables between the buildings and the train tracks.

Without hesitation, Naruto jumped to catch as many cables as he could and landed on the train tracks. The train quickly caught up with him, barreling forward.

"What are you doing?!" a passenger shouted in alarm, seeing Naruto at the front of the train, clutching at least five thick cables in each hand.

"Ahg!" Naruto gritted his teeth as the cables tightened, his back pressing against the train's front, bearing immense pain. He felt glass shards and metal fragments cutting into his back, not to mention the electric shock coursing through him. But he disregarded the agony, thinking, "I hope it works," as the situation reached its direst point.

The passengers nearly stumbled as the entire train jolted, slowing down as they watched the cables stretching to their limits, almost breaking.

"It's working! No! Hang in there, kid!" an old man shouted from the driver's car, witnessing the gradual reduction in speed.

"Silence, old man!" Naruto roared back, hearing his jacket and shirt tear as the wound on his shoulder worsened, blood spouting out. "Door opening!" With a tremendous effort, he pulled the first door open and yelled as he endured the excruciating pain of his arms and shoulders tearing from his body. The agonizing tearing of his arm muscles was the most painful experience he had endured in years.

The passengers prayed and encouraged the teenager, who was giving his all to halt the train. Their hopes were nearly dashed as they saw the end of the tracks approaching beside the last station. Despair deepened when the cables were severed one by one, and the train's speed was still too great, hurtling toward a crash.

Several people nearby witnessed the train hurtling out of control. The screeching of the train wheels grinding against the tracks echoed loudly, releasing sparks due to the extreme speed, and the passengers' terrified screams added to the cacophony. The situation appeared dire.

With only one cable in each hand, the Uzumaki stared ahead, realizing the tracks were coming to an end. Gritting his teeth in frustration, he spotted a towering 30-floor apartment building filled with families. Summoning extra strength, he pushed his limits, his veins bulging in his arms and forehead, causing blood to flow more intensely from his open wound. The question lingered in Naruto's mind, "Am I going to fail?" With closed eyes, he could only hope the passengers would survive the imminent crash.

"Please don't give up!" A woman who had been there before with her son in her arms screamed with tears streaming down her face, clutching a handrail for support. Her gaze locked with the teenager's. "Please!" Her tearful plea was the loudest yet.

"You can do it!" A high school teenager clung to a seat, shouting encouragement.

"Please save us!"

"Don't give up, kid!"

"Don't give up!"

The crescendo of voices continued, urging the teenager. Naruto lowered his head slightly, allowing a faint smile to escape. He muttered, "I'm an idiot," then leaned forward and anchored his feet to the train tracks with his nails, enduring a thunderous crack from his arms, which stubbornly refused to release the cables. He screamed with all his might, nailing his legs against the train tracks, breaking wooden boards that scattered in all directions. While still gripping the cables, he tightened his grip and left a trail of destruction behind him, stretching for kilometers before the fallen light poles.

In the driver's car, passengers heard the gruesome sound of Naruto's arms cracking and dislocating. Blood from his wound stained the moving train, and as seconds passed, the entire train shuddered violently, causing passengers to fall and collide. It ended with a final, abrupt jolt. Were they safe?

"Do I make it?" A young university student rose from the ground, peering through the windows to see they had come to a halt at Zanzo station. Passengers, including the young woman, disembarked in disbelief, only to witness a startling scene when they reached the front of the train.

The teenager stood, head lowered, hair veiling his eyes, still clutching the cables that had already been severed. His arm and chest muscles shook uncontrollably, the shoulder wound now a gruesome gash oozing blood. His legs were wedged between the train tracks, his shoes burned away, feet scorched.

Raising his head, Naruto released the cables and extricated his feet from the wreckage. Almost ghostly, he stood among the passengers, who gazed at him in horror. Barefoot and injured, Naruto continued walking, his gaze fixed on nothing. A roar sounded, originating from Mt. Lady, who had just arrived in her giant form.

"In the name of all that's sacred," Mt. Lady exclaimed in disbelief, returning to her original size and rushing to Naruto, her duty to care for the UA student now paramount. Shocked by his state, she suggested taking him to the hospital, but he continued walking, ignoring her concerns.

"Let's go," Naruto replied, disregarding the fear in her eyes. He simply kept moving forward. Nearby, police patrols, ambulances, and professional heroes arrived at the scene following the report of an out-of-control train, but found it already stopped with the passengers safely outside.

Just another day…
