Chapter 2: Hyuga Clan Crisis

Konoha:

Seated in the magnificent Hokage building was an elderly man with white hair, his smoking pipe billowing out smoke as he gazed intently at the stacks of paper spread out before him. Hiruzen Sarutobi, commonly known as the God of Shinobi, was engrossed in studying the reports on the Hyuga clan and the recent events that had transpired. Suddenly, he was interrupted by a knock on the door.

Hiruzen glanced towards the door and permitted the person to enter. An ANBU with an eagle mask entered the room and kneeled before Hiruzen. "Lord Hokage, we have returned from our mission," he reported. Hiruzen's voice was calm, yet firm as he asked, "Did you find what we were looking for?" To his disappointment, the ANBU replied, "Unfortunately, we didn't. However, we managed to capture three ninjas who we think have something to do with what happened six days ago. We gave them to the torture and interrogation force."

Hiruzen nodded in acknowledgment and instructed the ANBU to notify him as soon as they received any valuable information from the prisoners. As the ANBU left, Hiruzen leaned back in his chair, stroking his beard. He contemplated, "We have to tighten the village's security. How could someone have snuck in and done something like that?"

The scene then flashed back six days ago to the Hyuga compound. The moon shrouded the Hyuga compound in an ethereal glow its soft light revealing a shadow slipping through the ground this intruder had no allegiance, no vendetta just a dark purpose that left death in its wake

He promptly executed two branch members who were on patrol with lethal effectiveness. He returned underground before stabbing a branch member through the dirt straight into his heart, quickly murdering him. He then silently made his way to the sleeping hall, having already murdered three people he needed to, and slipped right through the door where Hyuga members were sleeping peacefully, some of whom were children under the age of six, and the others were adults. He killed them all mercilessly before taking one byakugan and fleeing the scene by unknown means.

Hiashi Hyuga was furious at the hidden leaf village that day. How could the Anbu miss anything, and how did his clansmen get wiped out so easily? His thoughts required that he confront Lord Third about the negligence that resulted in the annihilation of more than a dozen of his clansmen. Hiruzen, who was signing paperwork and reading over some documents, received a tap at the door.

"Enter," he said, allowing the visitor to enter his office. When he spotted Hiashi, he became serious and thought, 'Now I have to deal with an irritated Hyuga, just my luck. Hiruzen sighed and greeted Hiashi. "I need answers. "Lord Third, how is it possible for more than a dozen of my clansmen to die without anyone doing anything?" he wondered.

"We'll investigate this thoroughly. I promise that I have already increased security in and around Konoha. In the upcoming days, I'll also be dispatching Anbu squads to search for hints". He underlined, "The offenders can't be that far away. "Hiashi was somewhat relieved, but he quickly collected himself. "I will trust you then, but it's important to emphasize that we need answers as soon as possible," he said. Seeing that Hiashi is relieved, Hiruzen notes the stressful atmosphere and says, "Of course, the moment we have a lead, I will contact you immediately."

Hiashi departs, leaving Hiruzen thinking hard about how to obtain responses as soon as possible.
