Chapter 93: Saving Pakura (4)

Pakura gritted her teeth to speak through the pain she was feeling and asked "Why did you save me? I am a sand shinobi even my village betrayed me."

Ken took a deep breath as he had an expression that conveyed sadness at her situation "We were dispatched to the hidden mist for a mission to protect the Mist. But we noticed some suspicious movements of the hidden mist shinobi. On our way, We met Uncle Jiraiya of the Sanin who also wanted to investigate the situation."

Kabuto continued the story "We fooled the hidden shinobi on borders and came here. We observed the situation and were planning not to get involved in it. But when we heard what the Mist shinobi said about Suna, We could not hold ourselves back. Your own village betraying you which is outrageous. So we decided to help you and our senseis had no choice but to listen to us."

Pakura was bewildered at that "Why would you risk your life for me? I'm an outcast now. Even my own village abandoned me. Why would you try to break your alliance with Suna by saving a shinobi that does not even belong to your village?"

Pakura could not think logically due to the pain, the injuries, and due to the mental pain she experienced when she realized her village betrayed her. She even had some tears in her eyes.

"We believe in standing up for what's right, even if it means going against the actions of other villages. You deserve a chance to live and choose your path. You were the hero of Suna, a brave shinobi whose tales we have heard in our academy. You don't deserve such treatment. Leaf Village believes in justice, not in turning a blind eye to such actions. Yes, if you were an enemy we would have left you to die. But Suna and Leaf are allies and we don't abandon our allies. And when our allies do something wrong, we stand up for it." Ken said with passion in his voice. Though he inwardly wanted to die of embarrassment for saying such words.

"You should have left me to die. I have no place to go. Even if I survived, I would have wanted revenge against Kiri and Suna but what can a single shinobi could do to tens of thousands of shinobi? I would rather kill myself than become a rogue shinobi who is hunted by not only all the villages but also by bounty hunters. I would have to be constantly in danger and would never have peace of mind. I can't live like that. So tell me what should I do even if I live?" She then chuckled a little at her own misery

"Why am I even asking you all of this? You are just kids. Look at me being so ungrateful. Thank you for saving me."

"Who said that you can't do anything? Come with us to the Leaf village. I am sure that you will find a place there. In the Leaf Village, we don't abandon those in need and certainly don't kill our own." Ken said beaming the protagonist smile at her.

'Well everyone except Danzo does not kill one of our own and maybe Orochimaru too. But she does not need to know about it. Come on just accept my proposal. It's too hard to keep acting so righteous. Thankfully my childlike face and age make it somewhat believable. If an adult was giving such speeches, she would surely be suspicious of them having ulterior motives.' Ken inwardly thought

"Join the leaf village? Kid, that's not how the world works. You realize that I am a Suna shinobi right? Why would your sensei and the Sanin agree to your request?" Pakura grunted in annoyance and pain.

"Your past doesn't define you; it's the choices you make now that matter. Besides, Our village follows the will of Fire, and Grandpa himself had taught me to protect the ones who could not defend themselves. As for why they followed my request, it's because if they didn't I would complain to my grandpa to reduce their salaries and I might also burn them to ashes. Hmph" Ken snorted as Pakura chuckled at that. At this point, he was just spouting out whatever came to his mind to convince Pakura to switch sides.

"Oh well Let's get on with your idea. The worst that would happen is that I would die or the Leaf would try to interrogate me for Suna's info which I would happily give right now." Pakura gave her answer as the three genins bloomed in joy unable to contain it.

'Mission successful!' They gave each other a thumbs up with their eyes as they then looked at the battle between the two S-rank shinobi of the leaf and the Mist's battalion.

"Let's now enjoy the battle and hope there is no one troublesome within the mist shinobi and you should recover a little. We might need your help later." Ken said to Pakura as his eyes watched the battle between the high-rank shinobis.
