Chapter 86: Team Shikuro on the move

After Shikuro's team entered Hokage's office, they were surprised to see Jiraiya, one of the sanins there.

It was not the first time that Ken had met Jiraiya. In fact, Jiraiya visited him quite often and after he got the memories from his previous life, he even gave him a nickname.

"It's pervy sage!" Ken waved at Jiraiya who facepalmed

"Pervy Sage?" Itachi asked confused at the weird name.

"It's nothing. Hey, brat how many times have I told you to call me the great toad sage?" Jiraiya tried to defuse the situation.

Ken asked Jiraiya "Have you brought me that THING?"

Jiraiya's eyes widened before he nodded.

Before Hiruzen could ask Jiraiya and Ken about the THING, Jiraiya changed the topic by asking Hiruzen to tell them about their mission. Unknown to Hiruzen, the thing Ken wanted was one of Jiraiya's books which he so wanted to read but all Konoha book shops have forbidden to sell him any books since his mom once saw him trying to read it and the rest is history.

Thus, Ken had asked Joraiya to get him the book. Originally, Jiraiya was hesitant to give a kid who was not even in puberty such a book but then he remembered his own childhood. So for nostalgia, Jiraiya decided to gift Ken one of his books that did not have a lot of adult content.

Ken was fascinated to read this world's equivalent of porn. Anyways, Hiruzen started explaining to them the mission and despite the situation, he wanted the kids to refuse the mission because of its difficulty.

"Yahoo" Ken shouted in joy as he gave a high five to both Itachi and Kabuto who too were happy receiving this mission.

"Finally a somewhat difficult mission"

Shikaku had a smug expression on his face as he expected the outcome while Hiruzen had a dejected look.

The only one who appeared to be a little fearful of the mission was the S-rank shinobi Shikuro.

"You want me to take these brats to protect an S-rank shinobi of another village from 50-60 elite shinobi of Kiri? Can't I just go alone? I understand you can't let the spies know that I am leaving the village without my team but I can still leave the village without them noticing me. Hiruzen let Shikaku explain the reason for him taking his team with him "While you can leave the village without any notice, all the islands of the Land of Water have mist shinobi actively on their coasts. You would be easily noticed or sensed and immediately attacked by the Kiri shinobi."

"As for Jiraiya, he is known to travel so his disappearance would not be noticed and I am pretty sure he can sneak inside the land of water in a toad's stomach," Shikaku explained

"The peace meeting is scheduled to be held in a week. So you should not make unnecessary stops in any towns and villages. If the merchant wants to sell his wares on the trip, tell him he can do it on the return trip. During the return trip before you leave the village, You all should make some shadow clones with more than half of your chakra who would accompany the merchant and leave the Land of Water while you would secretly rush towards the location where the ambush is supposed to be held. Jiraiya will join you on your way. "

"You would not need to worry about the safety of merchants since we would assign another squad when they are in a land of fire to protect them for their return journey. Your clones would then dispel themselves returning you, your chakra for the battle against the kiri shinobi. But you would have to change your plans if the Kiri Jonin Aô is present on the borders. "If you want to back down from the mission then this is your only chance to do so?"

"Nope," The genins simultaneously said while their sensei could only sigh at the troublesome mission.

"Very well then, go and make me proud. All of you." Hiruzen said as the genin team along with Jiraiya left.

"Take care of them Jiraiya" Hiruzen said looking at his student who smiled and gave him a thumbs up "Don't worry sensei, I will being back every one of them back to the village alive."

"I hope to see you arrive back alive too, kid." Hearing this Jiraiya's smile widened as he follwed Team Shikuro.
