Chapter 62: Weapon design

It's been two weeks since Ken's first mission.

All the three genins of Shikuro's team were training their skills during this time.

While Shikuro trained Kenjutsu to Ken, Most of his focus was on Kabuto since Kabuto did not have a clan backing that could help him teach ninjutsu.

Itachi could learn ninjutsu easily thanks to his clan having jutsus from all types of chakra natures as well as because of his Sharingan. So Shikuro gave him minimal attention and Itachi too understood it and did not complain.

Ken would only have a two-hour session a day for kenjutsu with Shikuro while the rest of Shikuro's time was used to train Kabuto in Ninjutsu.

Ken himself did his own training in the body flicker jutsu as well as his kenjutsu's movement technique.

Besides that, he was working on a design of a specific weapon he wanted to have to aid him in battle.

Kodachi Nitō Ryū kenjutsu style could be used with both one and two swords. He had designed himself something that could really help him with that. And he was currently going to his grandpa to get someone to make it for him.

"Grandpaaaa" Ken slammed the Hokage's office door open as Shikaku immediately woke up from his sleep in alert but as he saw Ken, he sighed and closed his eyes again.

"How many times have I told you Ken to not shout in my office and open the door politely?" Hiruzen said as he rubbed his temples fearing a headache coming.

"Sorry Grandpa. But I need your help. I want to have something made for me." Ken said as he took out the scroll on which he had made the design for what he needed and threw it towards Hiruzen who caught the scroll and opened it.

He studied the design on the scroll and was quite impressed.

'I never thought Ken was this good at drawing and designing. All he did was draw on my office walls some poop and sweets when he was three.' Hiruzen thought as he then studied what the weapon was all about. Ken had also added a description of what he wanted the device or mechanism for the lack of a better word to function.

'Gauntlet like bracer with swords attached to them. The swords should be detachable and reattachable. He also wants to limit the size of the sword that comes out of the bracer so he can use it as a knife or a hidden weapon.'

"Why do you need a gauntlet to hold the swords? You know that your kenjutsu would not be fully used if you can't hold it in your hands right." Hiruzen asked Ken

"The reason I need the gauntlet to hold the swords for me is because I can't just cast ninjutsu with a sword in my hand easily. I can't master all jutsus that I learn to such a level that I need only one hand to do it. It's a waste of time. Besides, this way I will also be able to use two blades at the same time which would help me use full potential of the kenjutsu style that I am learning." Ken answered

"That is not all, I have added in the design that I want the swords to detach and reattach themselves to the gauntlet themselves within a second and vice versa so I could also use both my hands for ninjutsu. This can be done with fuinjutsu I suppose."

'That's creative. It's like Orochimaru who uses his tongue to hold the sword rather than his hands which he uses to mold ninjutsu. I don't face the same problem as Enma can function without me holding him.' Hiruzen thought

"Such a thing would cost a lot and you also need to have swords that won't break easily since the entire thing would have to be made again if you change the swords you use." Hiruzen said

"I have perfect swords Grandpa that would be with me for my entire shinobi career," Ken said as he showed his grandpa two swords made completely out of pure chakra metal. They were a little big for him but once he grows up, it would be the perfect size.

Seeing those swords, Hiruzen's expression darkened.

"Ken, Did you happen to find these blades in my weaponry closet in my home office?" Hiruzen asked

"Yes," Ken nodded as if there was nothing wrong.

"Haha" A chuckle escaped Shikuro who had his eyes closed, Hiruzen glared at him.

'There is no point in arguing with him as I already know his response which would be Grandpa, you only said what belongs to me belongs to you. Ugh, I should not have said that. I should have realized my grandson is the greediest kid ever to exist.' Hiruzen thought as he let out a sigh.

"The gauntlet would need a lot of seals to function too. For example, to store swords in a gauntlet is impossible unless a modified storage seal is used. If the swords are just attached to the gauntlet, it would hinder your arms movement. It would need plenty more seals. The mechanism for it to function is also pretty complicated." Hiruzen said as he rubbed his chin.

"The gauntlet with such a mechanism would be difficult for many blacksmiths to make since they focus more on making weapons. But thankfully, there are craftsmen in Takumi Village also known as the village of artisans in the land of the river who could make such weapons. Give me the swords. I will get it done." Hiruzen said as Ken's face bloomed with a smile that melted Hiruzen's heart.

"Great Grandpa. Here is one million Ryo as the payment. Since I am a shinobi now, I should be paying for it and I won't take no for an answer. Cya and thank you Grandpa. Make sure that they make it as soon as possible." Ken said as he departed leaving the two swords with Hiruzen.

Hiruzen looked wide-eyed at the money and then at Ken's back.

Once Ken was gone, he muttered "It would take at least five million ryo to make this with the best material. This brat is really going to dry up my savings."
