52 Chapter 52: First Mission (1)

Hiruzen who was waiting for Team Shikuro in his office scrambled through scrolls after scrolls of different missions to find the perfect mission for Shikuro's team.

"Shikaku, don't just doze off and help me find a good mission for Team Shikuro. Something that is not dangerous." Hiruzen shouted seeing Shikaku dozing off while leaning against the wall.

'What a drag!' Shikaku complained In his mind as he opened a couple of C-rank mission scrolls.

'Eliminating bandits, Rescue people in the land of wind, Escort and protecting Kaminari merchant group for a month in the land of lightning, guard duty, border patrol.....' Shikaku did not take any of these missions to Hiruzen since he knew while Hiruzen has accepted Shikuro and Ken's request to give them C rank mission right from the start but Hiruzen was not going to send 6-7-year-olds to kill on their first mission. Especially when one of the kids on that team was his grandson.

Sending the team out of the land of fire was also unacceptable due to the safety concerns of the team.

Finally, he found a suitable mission as he gave this scroll to Hiruzen after scanning through it.

'I hope Shikamaru does not give me grandkids soon. Having a grandson seems like a drag.' Shikaku thought

Hiruzen scanned the mission and was happy to know that the mission was not very difficult and also was a safe mission compared to the others.

It has little to no chance of becoming a B-rank mission or even an A-rank.

But he suddenly thought of something as he nervously asked Shikaku

"While the mission is good and safe, I don't think Ken would take such a boring and peculiar mission. He always said that his first mission would be something legendary and he would kill at least a dozen. He would surely reject this mission and ask for something dangerous. If I did not give a mission that he likes, he would not talk to me. What should I do?"

'He seriously had to ask me something this stupid. He has already fallen in the clutches of his grandson.' Shikaku thought about complaining about the behavior of the Hokage in the Konoha council but decided against it as it would be too much of a drag.

"Just tell him he has no choice but to do this mission. He is now a shinobi and he has to act like it and not like a kid despite being a kid. Besides, killing is no joke and he has to understand this. You have to stand your ground against him since a difficult mission can threaten the safety of Ken and you would not want that, would you?" Shikaku said knowing that his words would do the trick.

Hiruzen nodded resolutely and determined.

"Send a shinobi to notify Lady Himi that her mission has been accepted," Hiruzen said as Shikaku nodded

After a few minutes, Team Shikuro entered the Hokage office.

"Sup Grandpa?" Ken casually strolled inside the room without any manners and took the seat in front of Hiruzen.

He then looked at Shikuro "Sup sleepyhead?"

'What a drag!' Shikaku complained in his mind. Whenever Ken came to visit his grandpa, he would always wake Shikaku up and make him do a lot of work.

Ken once stole some money from Hiruzen's wallet which was on the Hokage's desk and Hiruzen had gone to the toilet. Shikuro caught him red-handed. Ken threatened Shikaku that if he told Hiruzen about it, he would tell Aunt Yoshino that he lazes around during his job.

Shikaku had no choice but to comply with Ken if he did not want to deal with his rage-filled wife.

Someone though did not like Ken's behaviour.

"Ken, Behave yourself! You are in the Hokage's office. Have some respect for him." Itachi shouted as he pulled Ken away from the seat and made him stand straight.

"Sometimes I think that you are my mom?" Ken grumbled

"What did you say?" Itachi asked

The two of them continued bickering as Kabuto tried to calm both of them down. If someone that knew Itachi as the cool-headed and quiet kid, saw him like this, they would surely question whether it was someone else under a transformation jutsu.

Shikuro coughed as the three genins immediately quieted down.

'Promising to give Ken sweets and Itachi dangos if they kept quiet was the right call.' He thought happily as he managed to quiet the kids down rather easily.

'I have to learn how he did that.' Hiruzen thought

"Alright, so your first mission is to deliver this letter," Hiruzen said seriously as he carefully placed a letter that was sealed inside a transparent box with multiple seals on it.

'It looks like a super important letter. Must be a difficult mission. I hope that I get to fight some shinobi.' Ken thought

"What's the letter about?" Shikuro asked

"Well.... You see...um.. Well... It's a love letter." Hiruzen stuttered but finally managed to say it.

"A love letter?" Ken asked as his expectations of the mission reduced.

"What is love?" Itachi asked as everyone looked at him weirdly even Ken.

"The bond that you share between yourself and your brother Sasuke." Ken explained

"I see, It must be a very important letter then. Don't worry Lord Hokage, we would protect this letter with our life." Itachi said with a stern and determined expression.
