43 Chapter 43: Genin Test (1)
The newly graduated three genins looked at the man who claimed to be their sensei.
"Why do you have to introduce yourself after trying to sneak attack me?" Ken asked annoyed.
"I was just checking whether you are aware of your surroundings. It is important for a shinobi to be aware of their surroundings even when they are inside their village or home. You don't know when an enemy shinobi or a spy would try to assassinate or ambush you." Shikuro said as the three genins thought about his words, he then spoke up again,
"Besides, Since the actual genin test is no longer applicable for you guys, I have to test you on something." Shikuro said in an amused tone.
The three young genins were alarmed at the same time.
'Shit, he had heard us? But i did not smell or heard anyone. It must be one of his puny insects who must be spying on us. Damn it!' Ken thought ashamed of himself.
He had trained so hard to enhance his senses but he still could not sense some puny insects spying on him.
"Teamwork is essential and is very important for any team. You already know about the purpose of the test so it would be pointless. Instead, I would be testing you on how you can apply this teamwork in a battle while at the same time I would also analyze your current skills. You have five minutes to plan. Your time starts now." After saying this Shikuro body flickered as he left the area to give the three genins time to make a strategy.
"Alright, so what is our strategy?" Kabuto asked, Itachi was about to speak up but Ken interrupted him.
"Wait"
*Buzz*
'There'.
Yoriichi flicked a kunai to his right as the kunai struck down a bug.
'His first lesson was to be aware of our surroundings. He probably wanted to see if we followed his lessons or not. I knew something like this would happen.' Ken thought
He continued to focus on his hearing to check if he could hear any more buzzing sounds of insects.
"I don't think that there would be more of them. He likely placed only one of them to test us." Itachi said as he scanned his surroundings with his Sharingan open.
"Alright, Let's discuss a plan. I have read about him in the bingo books. First of all, no matter what happens don't make skin contact with him or you are done for. Though I am pretty sure he won't go as far as to fight us without his gloves on. But we should still be prepared." Ken warned his teammates who got confused hearing this warning.
Itachi had focused on training his skills rather than reading the bingo books so he did not know much about other shinobis both in and out of the village.
On the other hand, Ken had read the bingo books for three reasons. Firstly because he wanted to know about the enemies that he might face in the future. Secondly, he wanted to use it as an excuse for how he got to know about the information about a specific shinobi that was part of his memories so as to not make anyone suspicious. Thirdly and the most important reason for why he read the bingo books was because he wanted to know which shinobi had a bounty and by how much he could earn by killing them.
Who does not like getting free money while completing a mission?
Itachu asked Ken, what was so special about Shikuro's skin.
"He uses a special type of nano-sized insects or bacteria which cover his entire body. Just one touch from it would lead to the spreading of bacteria throughout our body which would destroy our cells within less than a second. They multiply at a very fast speed too. There is no cure for it except the antidote that only he can use." Ken said to his teammates as they were surprised to hear about this.
"That means if anyone is fighting him in Taijutsu, he only needs one touch to kill them?" Itachi asked bewildered at this jutsu. Unaware that in the future he would be able to kill his opponents with one look from his eye.
"Yes, that is also the reason that he covers his entire body to not infect his comrades. He also can't keep other insects on his body unlike other Aburame shinobi since the bacteria would also kill them. Thus, he keeps his other insects inside his gourd." Ken told his teammates.
Kabuto then said "Seeing that he could carry such a large gourd filled with insects so easily, his physical strength should also be good. Fighting him in Taijutsu with our small bodies should also be not feasible as he would be able to overpower us."
"He should also be capable of using high-level ninjutsu so we should also be careful of that," Itachi said
"Alright, so we should do this..." The three of them devised a strategy to fight their sensei.
After a few minutes, Shikuro came back.
"Let's get started." He said as the three genins took their positions.
While in the Hokage's office, Jiraiya and Hiruzen too got ready to watch the battle.
"Let's see if this prodigy genin team has what it takes to be strong shinobi or not sensei. "Jiraiya said as Hiruzen just smiled knowing fully well that Ken was up for the challenge and so were his teammates.
