4 Chapter 4: Hiruzen thoughts

The doctor gave Ken another check-up in the morning. After seeing that he was healthy, he permitted him to leave the hospital.

Ken did not waste any time as he headed to the Hokage office where his grandpa was. Two shinobi guards followed him.

It was now time for him to meet his grandpa. He would surely not let his grandpa die despite how the anime has shown him.

He did not care much about canon. All he cared was about his family. As for Hiruzen getting weaker with age or dying from old age, he would find a way to make Hiruzen stronger and young again.

He also would not let his grandpa be naive about his friendship with Danzo. Yeah, Ken is going to make Danzo suffer. He was the one who corrupted his grandpa.

With that thought in his mind, he reached the Hokage building which was not destroyed during the nine-tails attack.

He could see various shinobi and civilians doing the reconstruction work in the village.

-----Hokage office---

It has been three days since the nine tails rampaged inside the hidden leaf village. The fourth Hokage Minato along with his wife died protecting the village as well as their son Naruto who is the new nine tails jinchuriki.

Hiruzen has taken the office of the Hokage again. Although he would prefer giving it to his students Jiraiya, Tsunade, or Orochimaru his students were to be very fair not suitable candidates for the seat of Hokage.

Jiraiya was unwilling to be the Hokage and wanted to travel the world for more material for his books. Tsunade on the other hand suffered from blood phobia which for a shinobi was disastrous and she did not want to return to Konoha either.

Orochimaru is the only student of his who wants to be Hokage but in the past few years, Hiruzen has seen Orochimaru getting detached from his peers as well as from the village, thus making him consider Minato over him for the position of the fourth Hokage.

If he did not take the position of Hokage, surely his dear friend Danzo would take advantage of it and become the Hokage.

Despite how close friends they were, Hiruzen believed Danzo was more suited for dealing with the darkness of Konoha rather than being the Hokage.

For the past three days, he had to do countless paperwork. He had to arrange shinobi for reconstruction purposes and also make sure that the other villages did not take advantage of the death of the fourth Hokage.

With all this work, he could not even properly grieve for his wife, Biwako who was killed during the attack.

'She would hope me, our children, and grandkids would carry the will of fire that she had.' Hiruzen thought with a smile.

Speaking of grandkids, his only grandson currently Ken, awakened his chakra at the age of four from the grief he felt by seeing his dead grandma.

The awakening of his chakra at the age of 4 was rare but still, some kids awaken chakra at the age of three.

No, what was rare was the amount of chakra he had. His chakra pool was enormous, to say the least.

"To think he would be born with so much chakra. If I did not know better, I would think he was the new nine tails jinchuriki." Hiruzen mumbled

If that was not enough, then the next thing his grandson awakened was probably legendary.

He had managed to awaken not one but two kekkei genkais at the same time.

"Lava and Ice release. Quite a combination. If he could master them and with his amount of chakra, he would be a menace on the battlefield. If he was two decades older, I would have even considered giving him the position of Hokage." Hiruzen continued to mumble with a chuckle at the end.

'Maybe if I can stay strong till he becomes strong enough to become Hokage.' He thought before looking at his body which was ageing.

He sighed 'I possibly can't. Should I take his offer? If I could do that, I might be able to live much more than two decades, and that too with having the strength I had during my prime or maybe much stronger than that. With the threats the village is exposed to, I need to protect both my family and the village, especially my cute little grandson. Biwako would not want me to join her just yet.'

'But accepting that offer would take a lot of my time. Time is the only thing that I don't have right now. Maybe I should do it after the village has recovered from the nine-tails attack. I would have to leave a shadow clone along with Shukaku to avoid suspicions of my absence.'

Hiruzen resolved himself to protect the leaf and his family at any cost. His will of fire which was exhausted burned brighter than ever.

'It should be the time for little Ken to visit me.' Hiruzen thought while looking at the door waiting for the arrival of his grandson.

Ken did not know that he did not need to do anything to cause ripples, his existence in this world alone caused changes in the timeline.
