24 Chapter 24: Entrance Exam

Two months have passed. During these two months, Ken learned the Lava style: Ash fist jutsu while at the same time focusing on the lava form of molten rock, liquid lava and Volcanic ash.

It was considered a D-rank jutsu so Ken has managed to reduce its hand signs to a minimum of one. He was still trying to do this jutsu without any hand signs but he could not.

He surmised that he would have to use this jutsu much more if he wanted to use it without hand signs.

He had even made his taijutsu style with this jutsu with the help of Mukai.

The weight of the rocks was no longer an issue for him due to constant training with the jutsu still on.

He was not proficient enough to use Volcanised rubber and corrosive quicklime forms yet. Besides, even with his clones, he did not get enough time to train them.

He was still having Taijutsu practices with Mukai who was also now responsible for sharpening his six senses and Kenjutsu. Mukai had started training him in the basics of Kenjutsu which was how to hold a sword, parry with it, block with a sword amd how to slash.

Today was the day when the Shinobi Academy held its entrance exams.

Ken was going to participate in it despite being the grandson of the Hokage and a genius.

It was meant to be a statement to every shinobi and civilian that the academy is fair to all and even the Hokage's grandson has to follow the required rules.

Ken was dressed in an all-black outfit with a black turtle neck t-shirt, black pants, and black fingerless gloves.

He had a pouch tied to his waist which had kunais, shurikens and senbons. A smaller pouch was on the other side of his waist which contained paper bombs, sealing scrolls and his daily dose of sweets.

He had a sheathed tantō on his back.

'I look cool and edgy just like I wanted. But my height ruins it.' Ken thought as he looked at himself in the mirror only for him to see a cute kid about 3.10 feet tall staring back at him.

Ken left his room and walked down to have his breakfast. His mom and dad were rarely home. But his uncle Asuma was there to take him to the academy along with Mukai.

As soon as they saw Ken, they were spooked out. Asuma looked at Mukai and asked, "Did the fourth great shimobi war start?"

"Not that I am aware of," Mukai responded

"Hey Ken, Don's you think that you are quite overdressed for the academy entrance exam? I don't think that you would be battling someone there." Asuma said

"Huh? I have perfectly prepared myself for every situation. A shinobi should not let his guard down at all times. That's what Grandpa said. I have to prepare all my weapons if someone tries to attack me for being too talented. Someone might attack me if someone's girlfriend gets charmed by my looks. I have to prepare for it."

"No one would attack you there." Asuma said trying to keep calm

'More like no one would dare to attack you. Your tales of burning forests, leaving craters on the ground, threatening servants to burn them if they don't get him sweets have spread throughout the village.' Asuma thought

"Would not you want to attack me if big sis Kurenai falls for my charms instead of yours?" Ken said while brushing his hair sideways.

"I don't think that would ever happen.....Hey, you should not be talking about this stuff at your age!!" Asuma practically screamed at the end of that sentence.

Mukai defused the situation.

"Ken, at least put the tantō in a storage scroll."

Ken reluctantly obliged.

They then walked to the academy. Ken was surprised to see over 2000 kids near the academy.

Asuma seeing his surprise told Ken that the kids come from all over the land of fire. This year the village is actively recruiting more students to make up for the loss of the genin and chunin level ninja during the third great ninja war and the nine tails attack.

A total of only 330 students would be selected from this bunch. 300 of them will be divided into 6 classes of 50 students each while thile the last class would be made up of the elite thirty students.

"Alright Ken, Good luck with your exam." Asuma said as Ken was about to walk to the examination but Asuma suddenly remembered something essential "Ken, please don't burn anyone."

"I will try," Ken said as he ran off

'This brat! Even though he is a genius, he has a pretty bad temper. According to Dad, he has inherited it from my grandma. She is the only one in our family with that kind of temper.' Asuma thought as he smiled wryly.

Ken arrived where the kids were gathered. Since there were so many of them, the space was very cramped.

The ones who had already unlocked their chakra were directly sent to the second test. Those who did not have access to their chakra yet had their chakra unlocked by the academy personnel.

Those with pitiful amounts of chakra even for a kid were sent back home. The rest were sent to the next exam.

They were asked if anyone had good taijutsu skills since Leaf did not eant to miss out on another Taijutsu Prodigy like Might Duy or Guy but sadly there was no such kid present.

The next exam was to run 10 laps around the ground which was pretty easy for Ken and other clan shinobi.

After the first 330 students cleared their 10 laps, the head examiner who was a jonin came forward "Congratulations, you all have passed the exam and thus have the right to attend the Academy. The rest of you can apply in the other shinobi academies in the Land of Fire or you can try again next year if you meet the age requirements."

Yes, there were more shinobi academies scattered throughout the land of fire. You don't expect just one academy in such a big country.

Most of the shinobi who graduate from other academies become member of the Konoha Genin corps or the town/city resident shinobi where they graduated from.

They came under the jurisdiction of Konoha and wore Konoha's headbands.

The kids who got selected jumped in joy while Ken was already thinking about taking early graduation test after seeing how sh¡tty the entrance exam was.

While he was think about it, he saw something or someone very interesting.
