Chapter 100 "We're Partners"

Black Zetsu found himself momentarily stunned by Naruto's resolute and composed demeanor. Despite the tense atmosphere that had prevailed moments earlier, the conversation hadn't reached a breaking point.

"Why would I destroy myself?" Black Zetsu's thoughts raced, trying to comprehend Naruto's intentions. The murderous intent emanating from Naruto was palpable, and he was deadly serious. Naruto had even unleashed the full extent of his Six Paths power, wielding the formidable Truth-Seeking Balls, capable of annihilating anything in their path.

Black Zetsu was acutely aware that these spheres possessed the power to obliterate even the most formidable foes. As Naruto approached, his speed surpassed the sound barrier, and in his Six Paths mode, he was several times faster. It was a matter of seconds before the deadly spheres of Truth-Seeking Balls were upon him, aimed directly at his head.

If struck, Black Zetsu's fate would be sealed; his head would be utterly destroyed, leaving him no chance of survival. He knew he had to act fast, and with a last-minute plea, he managed to utter a single word, "Wait."

Naruto's spheres were mere inches away from Black Zetsu's scalp when he halted his assault. Black Zetsu felt a wave of relief wash over him. If he hadn't spoken up in time, he would have been done for.

This encounter was a first for Black Zetsu. In all his millennia of existence, he had never come so close to death. Not even the Sage of Six Paths had been aware of his existence.

"Stop it," Black Zetsu's voice trembled slightly as he spoke, "Didn't I promise to help you?"

He felt a sense of injustice. How could he, a being coerced into wrongdoing, be treated in such a ruthless manner?

Naruto lowered his arm, the Truth-Seeking Ball now resting on his shoulder. With a hint of disdain, he looked at Black Zetsu and muttered, "You shameless creature. Do you even comprehend your own insignificance?"

Black Zetsu involuntarily furrowed his brow, though luckily his lack of visible eyebrows made it imperceptible. Yet, Naruto swiftly dispelled the tense atmosphere by retracting the Truth-Seeking Ball within his body, releasing the Six Paths mode, and offering a conciliatory smile: "Well, look at us, getting into unnecessary trouble. I've always advocated friendly cooperation. You're not losing out either way, and I'll even help you resurrect your mother."

Black Zetsu simply regarded him, a dawning realization creeping into his thoughts. Was this kid suffering from a split personality, or was he just properly messed up in the head, with a tendency towards darkness?

The situation seemed dire. Refusal meant death, while acceptance hinted at a brighter future.

This encounter left a lasting impression on Black Zetsu. From that moment on, until the resurrection of Ōtsutsuki Kaguya, he never dared to defy Naruto. Even when Uchiha Madara was resurrected later, he found himself placating Madara to comply with Naruto's wishes.

This was power.

Some might question whether Black Zetsu's strength was truly lacking.

Though born of the Ōtsutsuki Kaguya era and imbued with her will, Black Zetsu rarely intervened throughout history. His only notable feat was his successful ambush on Madara.

Poor Madara, never suspecting betrayal until it was too late.

Moreover, facing Naruto's six Truth-Seeking Balls posed a formidable challenge. Simply put, Black Zetsu's strength paled in comparison.

Even though Naruto might not have been a match for Six Paths Madara in his Ten Tails Jinchūriki state, the gap wasn't insurmountable. As long as he kept Black Zetsu from catching him off guard, victory was within reach.

"Then it's settled," Naruto declared, no longer intent on killing Black Zetsu. Vengeance could wait; diplomacy was the wiser path.

For those wondering about Black Zetsu's body without Truth-Seeking Balls:

If Black Zetsu possessed the "does" ability of the Truth-Seeking Ball, then his potential would be limited to its capabilities.

Relieved, Black Zetsu wiped away a cold sweat, unsure of how to face Naruto anymore. With a nod of agreement, he conceded to the terms.

Examining Naruto's attire, Black Zetsu couldn't help but question, "You've made threats in advance... Have you persuaded Nagato and Konan?" He nearly spilled his suspicion, wondering if Naruto had coerced others into cooperation just as he did with him.

However, his assumption proved to be off the mark.

Naruto didn't find this amusing. He didn't feel the need to elaborate but simply stated, "No worries. I employed the same approach as I did with Obito. They'll assist us in gathering Tailed Beasts and resources. Why not?"

Witnessing Naruto's unwavering confidence, Black Zetsu refrained from prying further or delving into deeper inquiries.

"Don't trouble yourself with discussing these matters with White Zetsu. He lacks the pertinent information and need not be informed. Just convey to him that from now on, both you, Black Zetsu, and White Zetsu will partner with me, working towards fulfilling Uchiha Madara's final wish," Naruto asserted, seizing the initiative.

Black Zetsu opted for silence, as this alignment aligned with his own desires.

White Zetsu, merely an entity randomly selected from the 467 individuals trapped in the Infinite Tsukuyomi, remained blissfully ignorant. Believing himself to be Uchiha Madara's will, White Zetsu was a creation of Hashirama cells cultivated through Gedo Statue.

Following their seemingly convivial exchange, when they departed, White Zetsu found himself still befuddled about the turn of events.

Upon their return, White Zetsu was astonished to see the two of them strolling side by side, engaged in jovial conversation. Naruto was animatedly sharing something, and Black Zetsu listened attentively.

During their journey, Black Zetsu attempted to offer Naruto a more aesthetically pleasing mask, but the suggestion was promptly rejected. Naruto saw through the ploy – that mask was just another version of White Zetsu, likely intended for surveillance.

Naruto had tasked Nagato and Konan with contacting Black Zetsu, aware that the mask on Obito's face was essentially a White Zetsu. Black Zetsu was already privy to Obito's demise, and they might suspect Naruto's involvement.

Approaching White Zetsu with a grin, Naruto declared, "From today onwards, we're partners."
