16 One year goal

With the break he had earned, Ryo was now focused as he wrote some scrolls to store objects. He hadn't mastered this yet, but it wasn't like he needed to master this art.

"I don't intend to learn the Flying thunder God or something that requires to be a genius Fuinjutsu master. My combat style will be more direct with Jiton, and possibly Iryoujutsu."

He pondered about healing jutsus as he finished writing the last of the scrolls. This time, Naruto hadn't bothered or interrupted him. After all, Ryo was smarter than his protagonist friend, and he was making the scrolls in the early morning, very early. It was still 5:40 a.m.; Ryo's house had all the windows closed so no one could look inside.

After finishing, he stored the scrolls and then stood up, stretching his body. He still had some aches, but it was manageable. He was still prohibited from training taijutsu or exerting his body, so he would focus these days on training chakra control, both wind and earth.

And so, Ryo's mornings went. But there was something he wasn't prohibited from doing, which was going to the academy library. After getting ready, he left his house and headed there. Upon arrival, Ryo went straight to the section for D-rank scrolls, where he found initiation scrolls for healing jutsus. There were many scrolls discussing theories, and Ryo selected some of them, finding one of the few actual healing jutsus.

-- Simple Healing Jutsu. --

He opened the scrolls one by one, starting to read. There was a lot of theory about healing someone with chakra, and which situations could be cured and which could not. For instance, if someone were poisoned, it wouldn't help, and they would need a jutsu that cured poison or have the antidote on hand.

Reading this, he saw it was more complicated than he had imagined, with many theories, pros, and cons. But what he took into consideration was his knowledge of the human body. And in that, Ryo was good, coming from a world where medicine was extremely advanced. Even though he wasn't in that field, he had served two years in the army and had rescue classes, as well as basic medicine classes, with theories about the human body.

"Thinking about it, it's still not like I remember everything, but I know where the major and most important veins and organs of the body are, along with some basic diseases like the flu. But I can't say if this world has natural teas that would cure them."

He let out a sigh, then looked at the scroll of the basic healing jutsu, opening it to see that the ninjutsu could heal small cuts and stop bleeding, as well as being the foundation for all medical ninjutsu.

The scroll also mentioned that once the ninjutsu was used, the hand would be covered in chakra, which, when applied to a wound or bleeding, would act as a barrier on the body exposed to chakra and make the body's regenerative cells activate at an absurd speed. It was almost magical but with a lot of logic behind it.

"So that's how it works? The hand seals are easy, but chakra control can be more challenging since it's for healing someone."

Looking at the hand seals, Ryo was in a more remote part of the library, with not much around. He began practicing the basic healing jutsu right there. As he made the hand seals, he could feel the chakra expenditure starting, pulling it from his body. It slowly went toward one of his hands, without resistance or challenges.

Looking at his hand, he could see an extremely thin layer of chakra that shimmered in a very subtle shade of yellow light, something one had to observe closely to see, Seeing this he remembered that each person's chakra reflected their main nature, as Ryo was a JIton user, even more so of the golden coin, his had this more yellowish tone. But In a way, the first attempt had been a success, even with the small amount of chakra he had managed to use.

Ryo could maintain this state in his hand without much difficulty, then picked up a shuriken and, with it in front of him, pierced the tip of his own finger, feeling the blood slowly coming out of the small wound. He touched one hand to the other, his chakra once again being drawn toward the wound on his finger.

The wound vanished in a matter of minutes as if it had never been there. He looked at it with an impressed expression.

"I didn't expect to succeed on the first try, but I did. However, I have to work to master this and control exactly how much chakra I use. The way it is now, the expenditure is more random than needed, and I feel like I used much more chakra than necessary to heal the small hole in my finger."

He stayed there for some more time, doing some tests and trying to execute the ninjutsu better and more effectively, but without much success. He knew that what he had already achieved there in a short time was very impressive, but he wanted a little more, though he was content with what he had managed to obtain.

The next day, Ryo was still early in the morning in his room, having chosen how the training would continue.

"I have to train the control of my Jiton with the coin. After some time, I discovered that training by manipulating the coin helps train both my affinity with earth and wind, and the benefits of training are greatly increasing my chakra. I have Taijutsu and now also Iryoujutsu."

He scratched his head thoughtfully. He wanted to learn more things, but he couldn't. He hadn't mastered anything he already knew, at most his hand-to-hand combat stood out from the rest. Ryo knew he had to focus on what he had already learned and would stop for now, focusing on these three areas for the rest of the year, to at least reach the level of an experienced genin, something he knew he could achieve in the remaining time of the year.

"Alright! Let's do this, then. I have one more day before going back to the academy."

Ryo spent the whole last day at his house, since he couldn't train physically yet, he had no reason to really go out. So he spent the day training Jiton along with the basic healing jutsu, as he had done in the library. He kept pricking his finger while healing it, repeating this and controlling the golden coin alternately until he depleted his chakra.

The next day at the academy:

Iruka arrived at school early. As he walked, he saw a boy arriving, having just used the Body Flicker Technique. He had a calm look, and a few drops of sweat on his face; this was Ryo. "Does he already know this technique? It's not so uncommon, but we usually teach it in the second year." Iruka thought about this and then looked at Ryo as he spoke.

- Good morning, little Ryo. Is your body better now to make such an effort?. -

Iruka knew that to use this technique, one had to have good body control, and since the fight with Kiba and Sae had left large bruises on Ryo's body, he didn't imagine that he would have fully recovered, not to this extent.

Ryo glanced at Iruka, then swallowing hard. On the last day, he had spent some time experimenting on himself and had managed to further alleviate the bruises on his body with the simple healing jutsu. Eager to resume training, that morning Ryo had gone to conduct his physical combat training in the forest. However, he had stayed too long and had to resort to using the Body Flicker Technique to arrive at the academy on time. Seeing that Iruka had noticed him arriving, Ryo let out a slight laugh.

-- Yes! My body is better now. I'm quite resilient! -- he responded with the innocence of a child, then promptly walked into the academy. Iruka raised an eyebrow as he recalled his conversation with the ninja medic. "I was informed that he would need two weeks to fully recover, but he did it in less than four days?"

This event would later lead Iruka to discover something due to his curiosity and concern for his students, just as he would nearly die in the future to protect Naruto after he stole the forbidden scroll.
