95 Chapter 72.2 : Correct Answer!

Akatsuki Base

Uchiha Itachi and Hoshigaki Kisame find a moment of respite.

"Mr. Itachi, is it true that you only care for yourself?" Hoshigaki Kisame inquired.

Having worked together for a while, Kisame felt a subtle connection with his enigmatic teammate. Contrary to the rumors, Itachi seemed to possess a trace of humanity.

"What if I do, and what if I don't?" Itachi replied casually, as if indifferent to the question.

Deep down, he believed Yasao couldn't answer such a question.

Mount Myōboku

At the serene Mount Myōboku, Sage Fukasaku sought wisdom from the Great Toad Sage.

"Master, do you know the answer?" Sage Fukasaku inquired.

"It seems to be option D!" The Great Toad Sage replied casually.

Sage Fukasaku persisted, "Master, could your Buddha's eye unveil such questions? If so, obtaining a question and answer card from the Golden List would guarantee a 100% correct response in the future, wouldn't it?"

"No," Great Toad Sage shook his head. "I've tried before, but the golden list shields all attempts to pry into the answer. Even the Buddha's eye cannot foresee the real answer; one must rely on analysis and speculation."

Sage Shima realized the limitations of leveraging the golden list.

"Yet, Yasao's initial question is too straightforward; he's bound to answer it correctly," Sage Shima mumbled.

While most assumed that individuals like Uchiha Itachi could only love themselves, selecting option D appeared to be the obvious choice. Unbeknownst to them, Uchiha Itachi's true sentiments eluded their understanding. Only a select few could fathom the correct answer.

One such person was Danzo.

"Itachi's affection lies with Sasuke. Killing the entire clan for Sasuke is beyond anyone's expectations. What a madman; it even unnerved me a bit," Danzo muttered.

However, he refrained from sharing this in the live broadcast room, not wishing to assist Yasao.

Yasao's wrong answer would suit him just fine; a correct response held no benefit, so why aid the other party? Moreover, Yasao would likely dismiss any advice.

[Kakashi: Yasao, hurry up and answer; it's a straightforward question!]

[Tsunade: Yes, for such simplicity, points are guaranteed. Answer and proceed to the next question; that's the key!]

[Fourth Raikage: Why overthink it? Choose option D and move on!]

Yet, Yasao remained unfazed, allowing the discussion to unfold.

He answered when ready.

Anticipation built as his response echoed in the live broadcast room, marking his first spoken words.

[Yasao: Uchiha Itachi's dearest is Uchiha Sasuke! I choose C!]

[Fourth Raikage:?????]

[Tsunade:?????]

[Deidara: Is this not a trick question?]

[Gaara: Unexpectedly, Yasao chose this response!]

[Uchiha Sasuke: How could he love me? He got it wrong! Yasao missed an incredible reward!]

[Nine Tails: Is Yasao abnormal? I reminded him. The correct answer is D! He even answered C!)

Uchiha Itachi's pupils contracted as he read Yasao's response.

"How... How could he possibly know?!" Uchiha Itacgi found it hard to believe.

Yasao and Itachi had no connection; there was no way Yasao could know Itachi's thoughts. The only person truly privy to this information seemed to be Danzo. While the Third Hokage knew some details, he wasn't aware that Uchiha's favorite person was Sasuke.

In the eyes of the Third Hokage, Itachi appeared to be a member of the Uchiha clan who loved the village and would go to great lengths for it. However, in reality, Itachi was still safeguarding Sasuke and, by extension, Konoha Village.

Faced with the choice between his parents and Sasuke, Itachi chose Sasuke, and that was it.

"Could it be that Yasao encountered Danzo? Did Danzo divulge the answer to him? Or was it just luck?" Uchiha Itachi pondered silently.

Just when nearly everyone assumed Yasao's answer was incorrect, the Golden List live broadcast room declared the result.

[Congratulations, Yasao answered correctly! The correct answer is C!)]

In the midst of the live broadcast room, a string of characters flashed across the screen, plunging the atmosphere into sudden silence. The viewers, collectively, were left in stunned silence.

[Fourth Raikage: How can this be true? Uchiha Itachi's favorite person is Sasuke? What a joke! He slaughtered the Uchiha clan. It seems Sasuke wasn't at home; otherwise, he would have been killed too!]

[Terumi Mei: Though I'm not privy to the details, the undeniable truth remains – Itachi annihilated his entire clan again. Regardless of whether Konoha's higher-ups were involved, this fact is unalterable. How could someone like that still claim to love his brother the most? I can't believe it!]

[Uchiha Sasuke: Impossible! How could I be the one he loves? He only loves himself!]

Sasuke was incredulous, his visage contorted as if grappling with a profound shock.

The individual he loathed most, the one he sought to surpass throughout his life, had mercilessly slaughtered their own kin. How could this murderer claim to harbor the deepest love for him?

"No, he's a monster! He killed our parents, wiped out the entire clan. I refuse to believe he loves me the most!"

Sasuke muttered to himself, resolute in his convictions. A simple exchange couldn't upheave his deeply entrenched thoughts and beliefs.

"I will become stronger, defeat Uchiha Itachi, and force him to reveal why he killed our parents and the entire clan. This goal will not waver!"

"Itachi, is your most beloved person truly your brother?" Hoshigaki Kisame questioned, his astonishment apparent.

The response was somewhat unexpected, even for Kisame. If posed with the same query, he wouldn't provide an accurate answer.

"I won't entertain this discussion," Itachi's voice, now cool and detached, echoed through the room.

"Alright, I won't press further," Kisame quickly conceded.
