It's mainly the plot armour which made someone like Sakura or Naruto stronger later on.

Sasuke being good makes sense because he was always good.

But Naruto kept up with Sasuke who was not only better than him but at the same time also worked a lot harder than him.

Akira has to say that this has something to do with Plot.

After that fight, the next fight was between Sasuke and Gaara.

This fight immediately attracted Akira's attention.

Now he was excited about this particular battle.

He looked around and saw Gaara already entering into the battle field and he smiled.
