14 Contract

Haku woke up in a well-lit room on the side of a mountain. As he slowly opened his eyes, he saw an old-looking yeti smiling at him.

"Finally woke up kid? Try to move a bit and warm up. The herbs have almost fully healed you." The old yeti's comfortable voice announced.

"Where is the guy that saved me?" Haku was curious.

"Oh you mean Yetimaru? He is probably talking with the leader." The old yeti replied.

Haku stood up as his stomach growled. The old yeti looked at Haku and heartily laughed.

"Figures! You have been sleeping for 2 days and only been eating some little cold soup. Wait a while I should have some meat of the snow leopard you killed."

The old yeti turned back and went to one of the other rooms. As soon as the Yeti opened the door, the aroma of tasty food entered Haku's nose.

'The food sure does smell nice… but why doesn't this yeti not have any wings? If I remember correctly that Yetimaru guy had two huge wings. I should also ask her about the contract soon.'

After a while, the old yeti arrived with a huge chunk of cooked meat in hand.

"Thanks…Yeti? What is your name?"

"Ho ho ho" The old yeti laughed. "My name is Yamato. I used to be the previous leader of our Yeti tribe."

Haku widened his eyes.

"Yamato huh? Thank you, Yamato! My name is Yuki Haku!" Haku wanted to be nice to the old Yeti, he was gonna sign a contract with them after all.

Yamato smiled, "You don't need to tell your family name, Haku. I already knew it from your… appearance."

"You know? I used to be the leader 70 years ago when your clan's clan leader signed the contract with us. It's a shame he never became a sage."

"Did the clan leader die? What happened to him?" Haku was quite curious about the guy well it's more like he was curious about the research that guy had done.

It was said that before the so-called first clan leader the Yuki clan still existed on the island of eternal snow but they were a bunch of mindless brutes!!

They were kind of like the Kaguya clan of Kimimaro!

But that all changed when the first clan leader due to his talent managed to remain sane and extensively researched the bloodline to cure the illness.

That was all he could find on records about the clan leader guy! The reason was that the illness had repulsed back gain after 2 generations, which caused massive distraction of historic records and jutsu reserves.

Thankfully, by the use of a previous cure and the effort of another talent, it was cured for good!

"While learning sage mode, he turned into a stone. It is a hurdle no human contracted to this tribe has ever been able to pass. Of course, there are Yetis from our tribe who have become a Yeti sage. But there has been no human sage." Yamato put his hand behind his back and talked like an old sage.

Suddenly a loud voice came from outside!

"Old man! Send the kid outside! Tribe leader wants to see him!"

Yamato suddenly got angry as his voice changed from the normal warm tone to an angry and heavy Yeti-like tone.

"Mind your manners kid! Don't scream near a 6-year-old human child! Finally, our time to pay the debt has come!" Yamato shouted.

"Alright alright. But send that kid out quickly! We have to tell him a few things!" His voice was a little louder this time.

***

After a while, when Haku quickly finished his food. He went to the door and in front of it was a small flat area with a high cliff in a snowy and rocky mountain.

Yetimaru was sitting with his legs dangling below the cliff.

"Hi, Yetimaru! Thanks for saving me!"

Haku called out to Yetimaru as he turned back to look at Haku.

Yetimaru made a prideful face and said with his heavy voice, "Don't think too much of it, child! You were the first one that managed to survive till I got there. Hop on my hand!"

Yetimaru stretched his palm, gesturing for Haku to hop on it. Haku obliged as he was thrown into Yetimaru's shoulders.

"Hang on tight child, if you think you are gonna fall clench on some of the hair."

"Alright."

The yeti jumped from the high cliff unfurled his wings and started flying.

They quickly pass the cliff they were standing on before.

After about 4 seconds, they passed the clouds.

"You see this, child? This whole mountain range is of our tribe!"

"Wow…also I am curious but why did Yamato not have wings?"

Yetimaru laughed heartily hearing that question, " It's because I am the first Yeti to have wings! Although there are a few more who developed the wings after me with our evolution!"

Haku's eyes slightly widened with curiosity, " How did you evolve to grow wings? Yamato didn't have those."

"Ohh these? Your clan leader helped our clan evolve in his last five years. Apparently, He was always rambling about 'witnessing true power and bloodline evolution' during that time."

"Apparently?" Haku looked at Yetimaru's face.

"Yes because I heard it from the now tribe leader who used to be the main summon of your clan's leader. He modified our DNA to give us wings and slightly longer life spans! And all the Yeti tribe children born from then on have been like that! That's why our tribe agreed to teach him the Sage mode but he died in the process of learning it.

So the tribe leader announced that the next person who is qualified to learn it will do so without giving us anything."

"Did he stay here all the time in his last years? Are there any books left by him?"

"Hmm from what I know we do have a bag with some books from him. We never tried to read them though, afraid they might get damaged by our size.

Oh by the way, why is there no one doing the summoning jutsu in the last few years your clan, child? They used to do it a lot although they all became food for snow leopards as we left that area and snow leopards are ruling that place now."

"I am the last remaining member of my clan."

"Oh, you are… wait what?! They are all dead?"

"Yeah. Civil war killed them."

"Oh."

Yetimaru had slowed his pace to talk to Haku then but He started slightly speeding up Haku again asked him a question.

"Why did your tribe migrate from the place and let the leopards take over?"

"Oh, that? I asked the tribe leader to migrate to the mountains as we can train our next kins to fly here in the mountains easily."

"Oh. Do I need to complete a trial to sign the summoning contract with you?"

"You have already completed a trial, child."

"I did?"

"Yes. Let's talk about that with the tribe leader!" Yetimaru landed on the tallest mountain in the vicinity.

Its inside area was carved to have a ceiling above 100 feet and the door was 60 feet tall.

Going inside along with Yetimaru, Haku saw a tall muscular yeti without wings sitting on a throne.

On the side of the hall, there were two child Yeti's, one 9 feet and another 15 feet in height.

"Welcome, child." The tribe leader looked at Haku. "My name is Yotazu, the current tribe leader."

"My name is Yuki Haku."

Yotazu smiled lightly and looked at Yetimaru," Yetimaru did you inform him about everything?"

"Most of it except the trail stuff, leader."

"Alright. Now, listen Haku, the trail used to be different before we used to live in the area you arrived in but unexpectedly even after we moved from there the summoning jutsu summoned you people to that area, which now had become a region under the snow leopards.

Now we could save everyone from the leopard but Yetimaru had a genius idea. If they are dying from the snow leopards before Yetimaru arrived then they aren't worthy enough to sign a contract with us. That why we made the new trial to "kill as much snow leopard as possible" until Yetimaru arrives there."

Haku widened his eyes. He was sure that Yetimaru was just lazy! He probably didn't want to stay there every day waiting for people to arrive!

That's why Yetimaru made the bug into a feature!

"A bug into a feature huh," Haku muttered.

"Bug? Our mountains don't have bugs!" The smaller of the child winged Yeti said.

"No no, that's not what I mean. It's a saying among us humans"

"Alright! Enough chattering. Here is the contract haku! Yetimaru will give you instructions on who to summon as you don't have enough chakra to summon Yetimaru after you sign it!"

Yotazu unfurled a large scroll.
