13 Chakra! part-2

{Academy Training Ground}

I was hyper-aware of the heavy touch of Mizuki's right hand on my back. I tried to control my breathing into the set pattern that Iruka mentioned, apparently, meditation was the way to go but our chakra is locked by a seal that they needed to release. Even though Iruka had mentioned that in class it hadn't really clicked.

Still, it didn't take long as my breathing evened out, the meditation skill I had gained yesterday making it easier to block out unnecessary thoughts as I closed my eyes and tried to feel for any hint of chakra. It didn't take long this time as I felt a warmth reach out from the center of my back. A pulse of energy went through me as all of a sudden a new sense awoke.

I had no way to compare the sudden change, it was like something just clicked and suddenly I was able to sense the chakra that was flooding throughout my body. My chakra network was like a collection of tunnels, with plenty of small blockades regulating how much chakra flowed through each small pathway. I could vaguely sense each of these small blockades but refrained from interacting with them for now.

The small pressure from my back disappeared as I opened my eyes, there was a bunch of notifications blinking at the corner of my vision but I focused on Mizuki who had stepped up to my side so that he was visible, he had a surprised look on his face as he gave me a wide smile, "That was quick, I think you have good potential in Ninjutsu, try to work on your chakra control in your free time alright?"

I gave the man a nod and after returning it, the white-haired chunin walked away to help the next student. I was one of the first five people to awaken my chakra and the class would take another 5-6 rounds to go through with everyone. I looked at Hinata who had a kunoichi crouched behind her, like me her right arm was placed on Hinata's back as they stayed still, waiting.

While I waited for further instructions I walked toward Iruka sensei and focused on the notifications that had appeared during the little unlocking session.

'Finally, I can start grinding Chakra Control now. Because of the perk, my Physical capabilities would have an accelerated learning curve so I could focus on my chakra control as we-' My thoughts were interrupted as Iruka sensei walked up to me.

"You were quite fast in unlocking your chakra," Iruka sensei commented.

"Yeah, well. It felt natural..." I replied with a shrug, I looked at Iruka and the older chunin had a resigned look on his face.

"Please tell me you are not going to waste your talent again, I don't want you to tunnel vision on improving your taijutsu and other subjects where you are behind. While Ninjutsu isn't the most important field of shinobi arts, its presence in the field can not be ignored..." Iruka emphasized.

"I got it, Iruka sensei." I nodded, it seemed like the stigma of my past self's actions would haunt me for a bit. Thankfully all was not lost as I had a whole year to rectify any holes that I might have.

"Good, now come on, I'll teach you the leaf concentration exercise. You completed the assignment a little too soon, the rest of your batch will join you after they get their chakra unlocked." Iruka sensei spoke before he motioned for me to follow.

We walked to the other end of the training ground, under the shade of a couple of trees, Iruka picked up a fallen leaf and motioned for me to do the same. 

As I picked up a similar-looking leaf, Iruka sensei explained the Leaf concentration exercise in a little more detail, "Leaf Concentration exercise is a chakra control exercise. It would allow you to have better control of your chakra which is essential to both form and control any jutsu."

"Sit down and close your eyes..." Iruka sensei instructed and I quickly followed.

"Focus on your chakra, can you feel it flowing through you?" Iruka sensei asked.

"Yeah..." I nodded as I once again traced the small tunnels of chakra flowing throughout my body. "Good, your connection with your chakra is strong. Now the pathways through which your chakra follows throughout your body are called chakra pathways or chakra veins. The pathways you can see right now are some of the larger veins you can feel, and the better control of your chakra that you have, then you can easily sense the smaller veins, called chakra capillaries..."

'Sounds like the whole thing is derived from the blood network that runs throughout our bodies...' I thought as I listened to the explanation.

"...In addition to the chakra pathways, you could also feel blockades all over your chakra network, these small control centers are called tenketsu and through these, you are able to expel your chakra and weave ninjutsu or genjutsu. There are 361 Tenketsu in your body but normally even Jonins aren't able to perfectly control all of them. For most Ninjutsu that you would learn in the academy and even most C-Rank ones, you only need to control the 2 Tenketsu that are located in the 21 Tenketsu that are located in each of your hands..." Iruka continued through with an explanation that didn't completely make sense to him.

'None of this was mentioned in canon...'

"Aren't Tenketsu like small gates that control how much chakra flows through the network?" I asked as I looked at Iruka with a puzzled expression.

"Yes, that is what a Tenketsu is," Iruka gave me a bright smile that only further confused me.

"Then aren't they always open since my chakra is flowing throughout my body?" I asked.

"Well, yeah. But to perform Ninjutsu you need to make hand seals, Do you remember them? We practice them a lot in class." Iruka patiently explained, and then continued, "So each hand seal, well the basic ones at least that make up the D and C- Rank ninjutsu only need you to have control of a couple of tenketsu..." Iruka paused for a moment as he likely noticed my confused look and made a tiger seal to elaborate.

"To perform a Jutsu you make a hand seal, then you stop your chakra from flowing between the two tenketsu that correspond with that particular hand seal. The handseal then manipulates the stable chakra that is stuck between those two tenketsu changing its very nature. This changed chakra then goes through this process multiple times thus creating a jutsu."

Iruka slowly changed his hands to form another hand seal that I didn't remember and after a moment he extended his index finger which now had a small flame like a candle fluttering over it.

"This is an E-Rank Ninjutsu, Fire Release: One, that you will learn in the upcoming months." Iruka smiled as my eyes were stuck to the fluttering flame, while a sense of wonder did fill me, at the same time I realized that living in this world would not be as easy as I thought.

'Hopefully getting Chakra Control to level 1 or 2 would make this chakra control bullshit way easier...'

AN - I had to rewrite this chapter multiple times due to the foundation of chakra that I want to introduce. The technical details would blur out as I won't go into as much detail every time but this isn't a pure smut fic so I decided to include this...
