"Okaa-san, why do we have whiskers?"

Himawari softly asked a spontaneous question as she looked up at her mother chopping vegetables.

Her brother, Boruto, who was sitting on a couch busy playing the latest G- series videogame also looked over curiously. That was the same question that the both of them had been arguing over before bedtime. Hinata, surprised by the question, glanced at her daughter with her white, pupil-less eyes.

"Hmm," she pretended to think, " your father also has whiskers. So, I guess it's obviously because of him."

"We know that. But why?"

"They are really cute, right?"

"But whyyyy do we have them?"

Boruto, listening into the conversation squinted. His attention was split between the game and the exchange.

"Well, why do you think you have whiskers?" She asked and threw the question back at her as she resumed chopping up the spring onion. It made satisfyingly crispy sounds as the knife sliced it to pieces.

"Kaa- san, are we actually bunnies in disguise?"

Hinata laughed.

"Maybe? Could be possible."

"But Onii-chan said we were actually were-wolves! He said that Otou-san always disappears because it was the full moon and-and he needs to transform and-and- you know, you know- he eats people!"

She began to get teary at that point. Hinata washed her hands quickly and picked her bunny-like, timid daughter whose eyes were close to becoming as red as one.

"Now, don't cry," said she as she kissed Himawari's forehead," that's only your Onii-chan trying to scare you. See? Have you ever transformed yourself? No, right?"

"Bu-but Onii- Onii-cha said that was because we were too young to transform into were-wolves!"

The aftermath of this was Hinata desperately trying to calm the wailing child down and distract her and needless to say, Boruto had his videogame confiscated for a while for his lies.

In the end, Himawari was thoroughly convinced that they were actually half bunnies and their father was a bunny who became a human after falling in love with a Princess Hinata of the Moon kingdom who kissed him much like the story of the Princess and the Frog, all courtesy of Boruto trying to cheer her up in hopes of reclaiming his videogame kept atop the fridge.
