Aiko and Emi were retreating. They just threw kunais with paper bomb and those were the reason for the explosion.

When the order was given, the birds took the rats and dropped them on the places ordered by Kouske. Kouske exploded 8 rats. The resulting explosion, shook all the areas around and shockwaves with winds spread everywhere. Some trees fell and The Oni and the beetle with the child shinobi also retreated. Kouske just stopped poisonous insects from spreading everywhere. Now he wanted to take them out.

[Kouske-inner-thought: HERE IS THE SECOND AIR STRIKE COMING!]

[Amagiri Beetle]: WHO IS ATTACKING US? FROM WHERE?

As they were done speaking, some rats and squirrels dropped on them. They were 9 in total.

Aiko and Emi both looked terrified at Kouske. They saw Kouske laughing like a maniac right now.

THERE ARE 36 OF THEM. ALSO, FROM THE CAMP SIDE AS WELL. 14 ENEMIES ARE COMING. WE NEED TO GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE. I THINK OUR CAMP HAS FALLEN AS WELL.

Kouske said this and started running. Aiko and Emi were afraid of him and hesitated but thinking that they will die if they stayed, they decided to follow Kouske.
