Chapter 39: Oden went overboard

The raikage of Kumogakure sat in his office, wearing a yellow kage hat. He suddenly felt a powerful Chakra in the sky from far away.

He instantly hurried towards his window and looked in the direction he felt the chakra, wondering what was going on.

Gaara was sitting in a meeting with the elders of Sunagakure, having discussions about the next Kazekage. Gaara stood up suddenly and got ready for an attack, only one other elderly lady stood up.

The other elders just got confused as to what was going on.

Tsuchikage of iwagakure flew up towards the sky and looked toward the direction he felt a scary chakra signature.

"Land of fire... it's you again..." He said bitterly, he had wanted to attack Konoha after the death of the Third Hokage, yet he held back and waited in case the other r villages would attack first.

'Is there a great war taking place over there? Which scary person could release such amounts of chakra' the old man thought as his brown kage hat hid his eyes.

Oden realized that he might have gone overboard when he saw the result of his jutsu. he hoped that Tsuande hadn't died as two flaming balls went past her defense and headed straight toward her.

A great explosion took place at the location of Tsunade as the two flaming balls collided with her

Even before the flames died down and the dust settles, Oden breathed out a sigh in relief, he felt Jiraiya's chakra signature in the last second, arriving where Tsuande was.

Finally, Oden saw a big, bushy ball of hair shielding the two.

The Hair was white, and burnt, except for that Tsunade and Jiraiya looked fine.

"...I, went overboard..." Oden stated, but he didn't say sorry, no, he shouldn't say sorry.

'If she can't even handle that, she doesn't deserve to be Hokage!' Oden tried to justify himself.

"Brat, you're really asking for it now!" Tsunade said, although she looked tired, somehow her spirit had been ignited again and she looked ready for round two.

"Tsunade that's enough, you've had your fun, but don't forget who you two are." Jiraiya said, Trying to stop them from continuing.

Oden felt Anbu and many Jonin hurrying towards their location.

Soon the Anbu and many jonin arrived at their location, but it was hard to see them as there was a big fog covering the area. It had come about because of the mist created from their last counter.

"Hokage-sama, do you have any commands?" The leading anbu asked, looking around and only finding two of the three sannin.

"No, don't worry, I only sparred a little with Tsunade as I've heard rumors of her strength." Oden said as he saw the worry in the faces of the jonin.

They nodded and left, the jonin looked around and we were in awe at the sight of the destruction that had happened because of a "spar" Between two powerhouses.

"This place accidentally got foggy.." Oden commented as he also looked around.

One of the jonin had his eye twitch.

"Hokage-sama, it isn't just this place... it's the whole of Konoha." He clarified.

Oden's eyelid went slightly up in surprise, it was barely noticeable.

Tsunade had calmed down by this point and when all the jonin had disappeared she stepped forward.

"Kid, you're not bad." She said. Now that she had calmed down, she realized how great he was for his age.

"And you're a disappointment," Oden said as he turned around, gaining the wrath of Tsunade.

Jiraiya hurried forward and held her back, trying to calm her down once again.

"Tsunade his personality is like that, he's a super rude brat, don't take it personally!" He said in worry as he remembered how Oden has said something similar to him.

Jiraiya felt nervous holding back Tsunade, as he knew how fast her anger could turn towards someone innocent such as himself.

"At least tell me why you made that claim!" She said in anger.

Oden stopped, he didn't feel the need to turn around and face her so he stood as he was.

"You're strong, about as strong as Orochimaru and Jiraiya, yet you've been gone for years, drinking and gambling away. You haven't trained in years, and this is probably the weakest version of you, yet you gave me such a good fight..." Oden said almost as if he was praising her.

"Then why?" She said.

"With your talent, as a Senju, as the granddaughter of the first Hokage, as one of the Sannin, and lastly as the student of the third Hokage, think how far you could've gone if you kept training and didn't waste away your life.... wouldn't you feel disappointed if you were me, Such a good fight at your worst, imagine how great it would have been if you were at your best," Oden said before hurrying away.

Tsunade stood there almost as if frozen, realizing that she had indeed wasted most of her talent.

Oden arrived at his home, and when he went inside, he found Hinata in the garden, she looked exhausted as if she had been training.

"I'm home!" Oden said as he went to the garden where Hinata was.

"Welcome back!" She said as she noticed him. Her face lit up and all the exhaustion was gone.

"What have you been working on?" He said as he noticed that parts of the garden were destroyed.

"I-it's a secret... I will show you when I have mastered my new technique!" She said shyly, her stammering had almost disappeared.

Oden had noticed her change, and it wasn't unwelcome as it was easier to communicate with her when she could actually speak up.

"It's getting late... I'll ask Mina to cook us something before we go to sleep." Oden said as he looked up.

The time wasn't decided by clocks, instead, it was by the sun's position.

The sun had set and the sky was turning darker and darker.

"I have already... cooked us food." She said as she looked away, her face was slightly pink and her two fingertips were pointing at each other.

Now and then she makes something to eat, and she would become very shy at the fact that she had cooked for her husband.

"Good let's go inside." Oden said with a smile, he genuinely liked her food, it was made with care.

A while later, after they had showered and changed clothes, they both sat at the table and ate.

"It's very tasty as usual." Oden said as he ate the food.

Hinata lowered her head and became bashful. She had spent lots of time cultivating her non-shinobi abilities as she grew up. This had left many looking down on her since it was a waste of time, they said.

She is the princess of the Hyuga clan and would have servants that would take care of her daily need for the rest of her life, so it was a waste of time learning cooking or gardening when she could hone her skills as a deadly kunoichi, yet here she was, in front of her husband, cooking him food.

Not only that, he was also very pleased by her cooking, which made her feel very content and shy.

"Thank you." she whispered, but the words did reach Oden's ears.

"Oh right, I forgot to tell you, but the fifth Hokage has been chosen by me, you might have already heard as I promoted the news. Tsunade Senju will be the new Hokage and she has returned to the village " Oden told his wife.

"Will you not continue as Hokage?" She asked confused.

She knew how happy everyone was with him as Hokage.

'He is strong, handsome, reliable, smart, a good leader, kind at heart, handsome, has status, and is handsome, why would he quit?' She wondered.

Then Hinata realized that she had counted handsome thrice and she became shy once again.

"Yes, I don't enjoy being Hokage, eh, why did you lower your face?" Oden asked in worry, after all, this time neither of them had done or said anything that would lead to her doing her routine of becoming, shy, then pink, then lowering her head, so he worried that she wasn't feeling good.

"I-I- am good, don't worry." She said as she raised her hands in a stop motion.

"... If you say so... anyways, in three days I'll officially hand over the hat to Tsunade. I want you to be there beside me." Oden said.

"Okay..."
