12 Classes Start

Happy with his "accomplishment", not understanding the reality of how much he accidentally manipulated her into accepting using the lethal combination of his looks and smile, Hatada took out his materials.

"Introduction to Ninjutsu", "Introduction to Genjutsu", "Taijutsu: Theory to Practice", and "Bukijutsu: Theory to Practice" were the only interesting ones. Other than those three, the only things he actually had to pay attention to was the history class (though he had already read lots about history, he may have read things that the class doesn't test on) and the tactics/strategy class.

Though he had experience fighting in wars, or more specifically A war, it wasn't like how he had any idea ninja prefer to operate.

The other general classes were going to be complete jokes.

Hatada's past world was unlike most other "Fantasy" type worlds because it was closer to "Sci-fi" than anything else. The reason was simple:

The Demon King.

Due to the immense threat something like that posed to the entire human race, in addition to his ever present minions and aids, the entirety of humanity had an extremely long-term mindset (he returned on a millennia-cycle, afterall). The majority of the population was quite fixated on advancing enough to better combat the forces of evil, and so they did.

The one issue they hadn't solved was space travel. Their atmosphere was different from any other in that it was infused with mana. Due to this, any attempts to leave the planet ended catastrophically, despite them having quite advanced theories.

Overall, their knowledge of the general sciences and math were… advanced… to say the least. From what he skimmed over in the materials, they were learning stuff that kids his age on his old planet would be able to instantly answer without needing any work. This was due to the rapid acceleration of human cognitive abilities in his world (due to forced evolution by Mana Ring advancement, and natural evolution), and exposure to such concepts in most media, school, and conversation.

'Why isn't calculus listed in any of the future curriculum? I would think these kids would need to know how to calculate that stuff to better use their tools…'

It's comical how skewed his idea of what 6-12 year olds should be learning was, especially since he had "toned down" his expectations.

He shrugged, 'More time to study, I guess.'

"*Slam!*"

'Hmm? Oh, Naruto's just on time.'

The last one to arrive in the class was Naruto. Going by Hatada's internal clock, and the literal clock at the front of class, he was late by one second, earning the ire of the sensei.

[A/N: I'm just going to say Iruka is their homeroom, taijutsu and ninjutsu teacher. I'll make up others for the rest if I ever need to mention them.]

"Naruto, you're late," Iruka-sensei said.

Naruto clasped his hands together and bowed his head. "Sensei! Please forgive me, I couldn't sleep last night, and forgot to set my alarm! I swear it wasn't intentional!"

"...It's fine. Don't make it a habit."

"Thanks Sensei! When I become Hokage, I'll make sure to get you some ramen!"

A few kids snickered at Naruto's statement, though the majority of them had already heard his "favorite" statement, so they weren't surprised.

The only seat left in the room was next to Sasuke, so Naruto proudly took it. Before he could pester Sasuke with lavish claims of his future occupation, Iruka-sensei began his "lesson".

It wasn't really a lesson, but more of an introduction to what the school year would be like, and what was expected of us. He made sure to emphasize how the kids were the future of the village, and harped on about the "Will of Fire", which the whole room apart from Hatada seemed to be fully hooked on.

After 30 minutes, the first real class began.

"As you will find in the textbook, ninjutsu is a broad category, and is one of the main factors that differentiates a ninja from anyone else.

"Most ninjutsu is done with hand seals, and that is what we will be learning for the foreseeable future. To pass this year, you must be able to do each seal with perfect accuracy, and extremely quickly. Without such skills, performing any jutsus would be risky, or impossible."

A few kids shifted in their seats, both due to excitement about taking their first steps to being a ninja, and because of Iruka's last sentence.

"The seals are:

"Rat,

"Ox,

"Tiger,

"Hare,

"Dragon,

"Snake,

"Horse,

"Ram,

"Monkey,

"Bird,

"Dog,

"and Boar. Diagrams of these are all on page 20 of the textbook. We will be doing these for the rest of class, so I'd recommend you turn to it now."

The class frantically brought out their books and turned to the page Iruka said to. Hatada had already read through that page, so he began practicing the seals in order. Thankfully, they were all relatively distinct, so it wasn't a difficult task.

'Very interesting way of casting, but it's practical. The simplest way Mages and Knights could cast spells was through verbal chants. On top of that, magic circles were created by the caster, which helped to get repeatable results. Advanced mages could chant by just thinking, and could form magic circles instantaneously.

'I wonder if ninjutsu can be cast without seals…'

Hatada raised his hand, and Iruka came over. "Before you ask your question…

"HORSE! MONKEY! HARE!"

Hatada immediately made each seal the moment they were said, and Iruka nodded. "Very good, but you need to improve your speed. Now, what was your question?"

"Thank you," Hatada said, though he already knew his speed could be improved. "I was just wondering, can ninjutsu be cast without seals?"

'He just learned the seals, but he already wants to forgo them?' Iruka nodded. "Yes, it's possible, but only extremely skilled ninja can do so. Even our Hokage has to thoroughly practice a jutsu before doing so, so don't worry about it for now, Mr…"

"Nobokuni Hatada, Iruka-sensei."

"Good question, Hatada-kun. Continue practicing."

Hatada was satisfied with that answer, as it was exactly how spells worked. The only way to cast without verbally chanting, all while instantly creating a magic circle, was through practice. While the time it took to do so decreased as one became more proficient with the individual's experience using their elemental magic, it could never be circumvented.

I'll have to read exactly how each seal is supposed to mold mana if I want to forgo this process. While they are fun to make,' he went through the entire seal-list in a few seconds, 'silent, or in this case sealless casting is an extreme advantage I cannot give up on.'

If he did so, his combat system would get turned on its head. As a knight, and a Light Mage, he was relentless. If he had to stop, or put away his sword, just to cast jutsu, it would mess everything up.

Hatada continued to make the seals, just without looking this time. After a little bit, he began to speed up. 'Ah! I know, I'll do the leaf concentration exercise while practicing seals. I can already feel how they are moving my mana, so it will be an interesting test.'

Hatada reached into his pocket and pulled out one of the many leaves he had in there.

"(whispering) what are you doing?" Nisi whispered.

"(whispering) leaf concentration exercise, what else?" Hatada whispered back, leaning closer to her to not draw any attention.

"Eep~"

'What was that cute noise?'

"(whispering) w-what is t-that?"

"(whispering) you mean you've never done it? I thought the clans took training their young more seriously…" Hatada shrugged. "Well, the whole point of the exercise is to train m-chakra control. You're supposed to stick it to your forehead by flowing just enough chakra to make it stick. Too much, and…"

"*pop~*"

"-it pops." He took a leaf and placed it on his forehead, flowing the exact amount of chakra to make it stick. "If you haven't noticed, these seals help us mold our chakra, so this should make it a little bit more difficult."

He began making the seals, but was a little disappointed. 'Of course it isn't difficult, I trained this while moving my mana much more erratically and drastically… oh well. No point stopping now.'

"(whispering) can I have a leaf?" Nisi asked. Hatada nodded and handed her a leaf.

"I have lots more where that came from, so don't worry about breaking it."
