There are many advantages of the Sharingan, and although it doesn't give an eidetic memory as it was written in many fanfictions, it does give an extremely sharp memory boost towards recognizing patterns and visual clues.
'...technically, it does give something akin to a photographic memory, you wouldn't remember or understand the words but you could still trace them from memory.' Hideki thought as he finished making the storage seal.
He picked up a pot of ink from his desk and placed it on top of the scroll, he channeled a tiny bit of chakra through the trigger seal, and with a puff of smoke, the ink pot vanished.
'Alright another one done,' Hikaru thought as he unsealed the ink pot just in case to check. He placed the ink pot away and closed the sealing scroll.
'I should be close right?' Hikaru thought as he opened his skills window once again. He skipped the newly learned fuinjutsu skills and honed in on the skill that was close to breaking through level 10.

'Almost there,' Hikaru closed the scrolls and went towards his storage closet again, the insects that he was breeding for training purposes were scattering around in their glass box. Hikaru had been forced to use different methods to try and upgrade his Sharingan.
When his Sharingan had just one tomoe, every level-up decreased the amount of chakra he needed to keep the Sharingan active. When his Sharingan reached 2 tomoe he got access to the skill Sharingan Genjutsu that could be used to initialize any genjutsu that the user knows. s\
'It would take me 300 seconds to gain 1 proficiency...' Hikaru thought as he selected one of the insects and focused. While it was fascinating in the beginning, it was a boring way to level up.
'Will I automatically upgrade to Mangekyō or will I get a Max level bonus...' The question had been in front of his mind for the past 2 years.
'Don't think too much about it,' Hikaru tried not to think too much about the possibility of getting the Mangekyō. Time passed slowly and the fact that Hikaru could not see the progress made him a little anxious.
An invisible pressure of expectation started pressing on Hikaru as he traced the bug silently in its cage. He stood still for around 5 minutes when all of a sudden it clicked. The already slowed down trajectory of the bug further decreased as his eyes started throbbing with a dull pain.
When he first started using his Sharingan it was accompanied by a small itch, similarly this time a dull pain like a needle poking him in the back of his eye accompanied the promotion. Hikaru closed his eyes in reflex and then used his hands to rub over his eyelids when he noticed the blood dripping from his eyes.
Unbeknownst to him the three tomoes in each of his eyes started circling around his pupil and slowly started merging. The pattern that appeared in his eyes after a bit was reminiscent of a 4-point shuriken with small jaded edges.
Hikaru felt lighter, lighter than ever as he simply stood staring at the world around him in a seemingly sharper quality. Everything from the colors to the details was enhanced by a grade as he looked around. He felt powerful and his body bursting with chakra as he walked towards the mirror in his room.
Hikaru stared at his Mangekyo Sharingan, the shuriken shaped pupils stunned him for a moment although he was pretty sure his eyes had already evolved. After a couple of moments, he realized he was constantly unconsciously pushing a lot of chakra into his eyes so he cut off the chakra supply as the side effects of Mangekyo appeared in his mind.
His Mangekyo vanished as his pure onyx black eyes were restored, he felt a little weak for a moment but he quickly recovered as he simply opened his status to see if there were any changes.

'I need to calculate the rate at which it decreases...' with that thought dominating his mind Hikaru opened his skills panel.

AN- For anyone wondering, the continuous use of the Mangekyo costs 0.001% per 5 secs of use. That gives Hikaru 138 hours of usage without the use of any mangekyo skills.
