Kill You?

"Why did you dye your hair?" Sharon couldn't contain the question any longer; she had been holding it back for so long.

They were now at Nathan and Nara's marvelous penthouse.

"What? You don't like it?" Nara's tone was laced with a hint of defensiveness as she reached for an expensive bottle of red wine from the mahogany wine cabinet.

"No. I don't... it's not you," Sharon's frown deepened, disappointment evident in her voice.

Nara had beautiful long, stunning natural dark red hair, which made her look so gorgeous and vibrant. Now she had brown hair, which made her look so basic and boring, not to mention sad.

"I know," Nara replied with a sigh as she filled two glasses with the wine.

"So are you gonna tell me what's going on with you?" Sharon asked, taking a sip of wine and mentally acknowledging how good it tastes.

"How about I show you instead," Nara suggested. "But promise me you won't freak out."

Sharon frowned, not quite understanding. "Not sure I can promise that."

Nara chuckled dryly. "Come with me," she said as she led the way, firstly through some stairs then through a long hallway before arriving at a closed door at the end.

"Judith, open the door," Nara commanded.

"Opening door," an automated voice responded as the door unlocked and opened.

"Thank you, Judith."

"You're welcome, Mrs. Hill," Judith replied.

"Judith's a home assistant." Nara said to Sharon stating the obvious.

"Yeah. I know what she is."

"Right..Nathan got her installed to keep an eye on me so I wouldn't do anything crazy without him knowing. She's kind of like my babysitter."

"Oh.." Came Sharon short reply. 'Was it too late to find the nearest exit?' Sharon thought as she fidgeted with her glass of wine.

"Yeah. Come on in." Nara said turning around.

"Wait!!"Sharon called out nervously. "Promise me you didn't bring me here to kill me," Sharon suddenly voiced her fear.

"Kill you? Sharon, really, how could you say that?" Nara asked with a laugh.

"I don't know.. You call me after, what, like 2 years, make me pity you, then bring me to your home, serve me wine, then take me into a dark room; it kinda feels a little suspicious," Sharon said seriously.

"Are you kidding me, Sharon?" Nara asked with a raised brow. "If I wanted to kill you, I would have poisoned the wine."

"What?" Sharon asked in shock. Her skin turning pale and beads of sweat forming on her forehead as she shakily stared at the wine in her hand. Then looked back up at Nara. "Di..did..you..?"

"Offcourse not. I fucking drank the wine. What's wrong with you."

"No. What's wrong with you." Sharon shot back angrily. "How could you say something like that!?" She yelled unable to control herself but was secretly relieved.

"Your the one who assumed I brought you here to kill you."

"Well.. that's because you use to be fucking crazy and apparently you still are." Sharon stated angrily.

Nara face turned emotionless.

Sharon sighed.

"Look, I'm afraid." Sharon admitted "A lot of terrible stuff happens in this world. And why are you completely alone in this massive house Anyways? Why are there no staff or servants or something?"

"I have a housekeeper," Nara replied nonchalantly.

"Okay. Where is she then?" Sharon asked, looking around.

"She comes and goes."

"Oh, comes and goes," Sharon responded sarcastically.

"Sharon, this is ridiculous. Do you really think I would hurt you?"

"No...I don't know. It just...it's been too long."

"I understand, and I'm not forcing you to be here, you know that, right?" Nara asked crossing her arms.

Sharon sighed. "I'm sorry; I'm being ridiculous, I know." Sharon said, rubbing her temples. "I've been watching too many murder documentaries. And it doesn't help that your freaking crazy."

Nara burst into laughter, truly amused. Sharon joined in, laughing at her own silliness.

"But seriously, you're not gonna kill me, right?"

"I'm not gonna kill you," Nara chuckled. "I'm not that deranged, at least not yet," Nara replied with a wicked grin.

"Not yet. Good to know," Sharon replied with a nervous chuckle, and Nara burst out laughing once more.

Was Sharon truly safe with her? Only time would tell, but for now, in this moment, she allowed herself to believe that she was.
