Chapter 15

Chapter 15: The Group Leader.

"Instructor! Are you sure about this?" One of the cadets asked fervently.

"Yes! Now get on with it and get this over with," shouted the instructor with a tired and frustrated tone.

And so the twenty individuals of Team 9 lined up. There was no proper formation within their lineup since all of them grew up with different martial arts, and they assumed their martial art's posture.

"You may be part of the Cheon Bloodline, but after your defeat here, your position for the throne will be questioned."

"Hmmm, you sound so pessimistic, Instructor, as if you're already certain of my defeat," replied Cheon Mujin, grinning as if he was hurt.

"You are hurting my feelings here."

"It's better to demoralize you early to avoid some failure."

"Hays! Instructor, is that how low you see my capability?"

"Are you certain I'll be defeated?"

"Of course, I'm certain! Even I may not be confident to take on twenty of these cadets, let alone you!" Shouted Instructor Ja So-hee, frustrated. He expected another banter from Cheon Mujin since they had been exchanging banters one after another, but he felt the aura suddenly go absolute zero cold.

"Instructor," called Cheon Mujin without his sly smile but with his slightly opened, string-like eyes revealing a snake-like iris.

"There's banter, and there's getting yourself killed." Even though what he just said was extremely disrespectful since his instructor was leagues above him in rank, no one could refute his words. In fact, no one could even move.

You see, Cheon Mujin is a hypocritical man. He hates anyone who disregards hierarchy, but he himself disregards it. This is because he is a hypocrite and an egotistical man. He sees himself above everyone, and rules and virtues do not apply to him, as rules are implemented to keep beasts at bay, and he sees himself far above a beast.

'This!... this... this presence, this is the same as the Great Guardian! No! This is something more!' Screamed Instructor Ja So-hee inside his mind.

Ja So-hee couldn't help but lower himself before his presence. It was like he was standing right before an imposing mountain with an overwhelming aura.

"Is what I would say, but you and I are close, right? This one hour of our friendship is enough testament to how close we are," then suddenly, as if it was only an illusion, the pressure disappeared, and Cheon Mujin's tyrannical aura vanished and was replaced by his old nature.

He waved his hands swaying and laughed as if it was all just a joke between friends, which was still disrespectful to the instructor, but he couldn't do anything since he was afraid that imposing aura would come back again.

"R-right," he stammered.

"Now, why don't we go back to the fight, shall we?" Said Cheon Mujin nonchalantly.

He faced everyone who he was supposed to fight but saw all of them on the ground with pools of vomit and pale faces. It seems that the aura he released earlier was enough to make them all fall to the ground. 'Pathetic,' he thought.

"I guess there's no need to fight anymore. Does everyone agree that I should be the leader?" Asked Cheon Mujin, who smiled at them with faint malice, which all of them felt pierced through their cores.

All of them fervently bobbed their heads without any resistance and submitted like defeated enemies.

"As Sun Tzu said, 'The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.'"

Chuckled Cheon Mujin as he oversaw the entire scene from the top of one of the highest buildings overlooking the academy's ground. Then his gaze landed on a certain infirmary where a certain main character was feigning sickness. He chuckled in amusement, then his eyes moved again and saw fast movement coming towards the infirmary.

The individual used a unique qigong technique that resembled a butterfly, and there was only one who had that kind of qigong technique inside the Cult, Seob Meng, the Right Guardian.

Suddenly Cheon Mujin's iris widened like a hawk, and his vision was enhanced to such a degree that it was like he was looking at Seob Meng in front of him, even though he was half a kilometer away from him.

"I've seen the manhwa; let's see how the live adaptation would fare," Chuckled Cheon Mujin as he took a seat leisurely, as if he was watching a movie.

Inside the Infirmary:

Inside the room where Cheon Yeowun was confined, the door suddenly burst open, and a man wearing a loose robe reeking of alcohol with a sword hung on his waist entered.

"Student! Your teacher is here!" Shouted Seob Meng while burping with his alcoholic breath.

"Are you not going to greet me?"

"Ah!" Exclaimed.

"Student Cheon Yeoeun greets his master!" Bowed Cheon Yeowun.

Seob Meng nodded with satisfaction, then he opened his mouth again, reeking of alcohol.

"Have you finished the homework I gave you yesterday?" He asked.

"Are you talking about the neigong breathing technique?" Asked Cheon Yeowun.

"That's right, what else would I be talking about? I told you to memorize it," said Seob Meng.

Cheon Yeowun cupped his hands and responded.

"Yes, master! I have memorized it!"

Seob Meng was momentarily surprised. He didn't actually expect Cheon Yeowun to memorize the breathing technique since he had just given it to him yesterday, and the breathing technique he gave him was very advanced, something that would require months to memorize. Yet here he was, saying he had memorized it in just a few days. He had said those words earlier to mess with the latter, but he didn't expect it to recoil back at him.

"G-good job for completing the task I gave you," stammered Seob Meng.

After this, the two conversed for a while, and then Seob Meng taught Cheon Yeowun his breathing technique.

Seob Meng taught him how to circulate energy, and by the time he was done, both of them were sweating.

"His blood vessels for energy circulation are ungodly wide and smooth. It's like as if he was born with a body built for martial arts," thought Seob Meng.

After teaching Cheon Yeowun a bit more about his martial arts and energy circulation, Seob Meng said his goodbye and disappeared with a flash.

Seeing this from afar, Cheon Mujin smiled deviously and said.

"Let's give the MC of this story some fright, shall we?" Then, as if a ghost, his body dissolved through the air, disappearing like a mist.
