Chapter 2

Instead l went home

When I reached home, I was a panting mess and I knew exactly what to do to cover up my crimes. I took my bicycle inside the house so that even if he tries to look for me, he won't know where I live.

"What is wrong Hanna, who is after you?" my mom asks as I close the door.

"You scared me," I said as l held my hand to feel my pulse. My heart was beating a little too fast and l knew what I did was wrong but I could not tell my mother. She would have told me to go and apologise and I did not want because he started it, he should apologise first. I also knew too well that l was at fault too because I actually hit him and l left him bleeding but my stubbornness stood in the way.

Judging by the look on my mother's face she knew something was wrong but she wanted me to tell her and I was not yet ready. Dad was not home so it was a bit better I was not going to get a 2-hour lecture for being irresponsible and careless because unlike the normal circumstances the mother gives lectures and the father just agree with mom; it was the opposite.

I went inside, sat down and pretended to watch the show mom was a watching on the television contemplating on how I was going to tell her. A knock on the door brought me back to reality and something in my gut told me it was the boy I had hit.

Of course, it was him and his mother knocking and of course his mother shouted at my mother. I could not just stare so l went to the door and told his mother the whole story, to my awe his mother looked at him with a dead eye. She apologised for insulting my mom and demanded her son to apologise to me, which he did unwillingly.

"Spoiled brat." I thought to myself, I also apologised and we shook hands.

Neither him or me knew what the future held, if only we knew.
