Chapter 19

The whole drive home was silent, no talking just me sobbing.

When we get home l get out of his car and head straight for the doors to the lobby.

I enter the lobby, since the guys had gone out l assume they left the keys at the front desk. I went to Laura.

"Hey Lau, did Reagan leave keys to our apartment." I ask and she nods handing me the keys.

She starts fixing her hair and smiling and l wonder why is that.

That is when l realize that Ocean had followed me and she is doing all this to get Ocean's attention.

I collect my keys and go to our apartment, Ocean still tagging along. I didn't have any energy to tell him to go home, to just leave.

I reach the apartment and unlock the doors and we both enter.

I head straight for the fridge a get water for myself.

"Need anything, water, food?" I ask Ocean.

"Just water," he says and l give him a new water bottle which he tosses aside and get the water bottle that I had drunk from.

Of course he was going to do that, he always wanted to share everything that I had eaten or had drank.

"You still do that." I ask laughing.

"No l don't." He says laughing.

Both our laughter echoed in the air and for a second l almost told him that it was all good, we were good.

But l didn't,

Because it wasn't good, we were not good.

I was hurt and l could still feel it.

We both kept quiet for some time before he broke the silence.

"You haven't said anything. Please say something." Ocean adds.

"I don't know what to say Ocean, l am overwhelmed l need time." I say and he nods in acceptance.

My phone starts ringing.

"Hey Marlon.....yah l am home.....l don't think I can come....no it's okay l will just have cake, l am tired anyway..... oh tell Reagan to buy rolls for breakfast tomorrow.... yah sure bye." I end the call.

I walk to the couch and sit.

"I will go then." Ocean says and it doesn't take me a second to reply.

"No, don't go." I say and realize that was too naive.

"I mean if you are not busy, you know you can go if you want.'' l face palm myself for embarrassing myself.

"Oh, as much as l want to stay l can't. We have a family dinner today and dad said l should be there." Ocean says.

"No it's okay you can go." I say flushing with embarrassment.

He bids his goodbyes and leaves.

"Why did l have to ask him to stay." I ask myself as l take a second bite of my chocolate cake and ice cream.

After eating l watch TV until the guys come back.
