Arcana Three: Eye of The Empress

The Three Pillars of Humanity are three powerful institutions that all fulfil specific roles in order to keep Humanity from destroying itself, or from being destroyed by outside forces. All three exist within the Mirror World, and are governed by The Empress. The Empress is the title given only to a woman of great character and power and influence, to live in and guide the Mirror World from The Grand Tower that stands at the very center of the planet. This was agreed upon by The Three Pillars as it has been discovered that the lifeline of the planet Earth and likewise the Mirror World was entirely feminine, therefore it was only right that a feminine power be the one to lead it.

The Empress is changed every century by a vote from The Three Pillars. One candidate must garner an absolute unanimous vote to be elected Empress. If they are rejected by even one of the three, they cannot be Empress, and they will not be allowed to be a candidate again.

The current Empress stands atop The Grand Tower, an illustrious structure that reaches the very Stratosphere. Her blue eyes can see everything that happens within her domain. Her name was Veronica. Her white hair and lithe body, in a different time, could have belonged to the goddess Euryale, however they were not the reason she was here. No, not at all.

She heard a knock on her door.

"Empress." The small man bowed in courtesy.

"Rise." She spoke gently, no more than a whisper but with an Authority. "What have you found Fidsley?

Fidsley raised his head to look at her. He was no more than 5 feet tall, yet his moustache curved above his head. He had wrinkly face that signified age, and he wore old garbs made of leather and wool. "The Grandmaster of Arcana Academia has not left the institution in the past week."

"Interesting." She looked out the window again, her crystal dress swaying as she walked. "What could be the reason for that?"

"Empress?" Fidsley asked.

"Fidsley, remember that you reported to me that he left twice every week the previous year."

"Yes, Empress."

"And did he ever fail to do so?"

He thought about it. "No, Empress."

"Then what could be the reason?"

"Maybe because the new school year has started?" He offered.

She shook her head. "That wouldn't be. If that was, then he wouldn't have left last year as well." She closed her eyes to ponder.

"Empress." Fidsely cleared his throat. "Why do we do this? Spy on the Grandmaster of Arcana Academy."

"If I tell you, I have to make you take an oath of secrecy." Veronica told him. "That's easy to arrange. So, Fidsley, keep this a secret, would you?" He nodded. "Simple really. I can't see him." The small man raised his eyebrow. "Even with the power vested in me by The Grand Tower, and my own strength, I cannot see him. I can see the other Grandmasters, but not him. When I do see him, however, the other reason surfaces."

Veronica sighed. "I want to be the one to kill him."

"Empress?!" Fidsley started to back away. "Why? Why would that be necessary?"

She walked towards him. The door swung close violently, locking itself due to Veronica's influence. "That I cannot say." She lifted him up and looked at him eye to eye. "But this is our secret, Fidsley. Break it, and you will die. I see everything. Only he is the exception." The door swung open and the man scrambles to his feet. "Go. Continue watching him. I want to know everything. I need to break his armor. I need to know how to kill him."

After Fidsley left, Veronica returned to the window, her all seeing eye focused on a certain red-haired girl inside the academy, currently being taught by one of the instructors. "Don't think I forgot about you, sweetheart. There's just no way you're human, but you are." She smiled. "Maybe you're the key to killing the man. I'll see you soon-Woah!"

The instructor in her vision suddenly turned her way, as if she knew she was looking at them, but she dismissed it. After all, the instructor was blind... She realized that made it all the more terrifying. She decided to stop for today and go down the tower.

"I need to see this for myself. What better way than to cause... a little mischief." With a wave of her hand she unleashed a little annoyance to the Mirror World. One of the tools given to her is that she holds the keys to the Mythical Beasts' inhibitions and will. She cannot completely control them, but a little influence on the mind of mindless beasts are usually enough.

"Go. Let me see her power bloom."
